Keep the conversation on Zelda people.
I picked up the game earlier today. Bundled edition with the Wiimotion+ gold controller. Bonus soundtrack. It's so shiny....
I'm having zero problems with the controls. They're flawless. The only thing that bothers me is that this game controls SOOOO well... but it's what the Wii should've been from the beginning. If this game had come out three, four, five years ago, we'd have a much different gaming landscape today.

If this game came out years ago, it probably wouldn't have such good controls. But indeed, the gameplay is awesome! I have no complaints about that. It's the way it is presented though. The storyline is boring, the constant dungeon running is alot more tedious than any of the past games - there's literally NO free-roaming elements in this game! And though the dungeons are quite well done, then I feel the game is missing alot.

I absolutely LOVE Zelda. I wish I Still had my Wii so i could buy this game.

I'm having a TON of problems with the controls. I have to CONSTANTLY recalibrate them... they dont respond well... I think they are kind of awkward... the Bird maneuvering for me is a total nightmare... and the rolling of bombs and jars so far is very awkward as well. This might be bacause i have the old wiimote w the Motion plus attachment instead of the new ones that have it incorporated, so it might be a bit different. And of course the clunkyness of the 2 devices attached toghether doesnt help...
Story wise however i'm loving it (so far, just made it to Eldin)... and what I like most about this game is the pace. It's substantially slower than most recent Zeldas, they arent rushing you to go here or do this and that, there is a ton of exploring and going around investigating... just giving you an ooportunity to get lost. Thats my fave thing about Zelda games. I spent like more than an hr finding my bird!!! The game is actually substantially more difficult than Twilight Princess as well... which I am REALLY enjoying!!! I put no effort in TP... I just cruised thru and therefore didnt enjoy it as much. This game is really sinking in, really marinating on me. I lose, I fall, I lose my shield, I die, I cant find stuff, I get lost... I love it.
One thing that is killing me tho and I dont know if its me or what... but the graphics sometimes are so awful!!! I get like buggy white little spots on the screen or sometimes lines on the shading and stuff like that... things that should NOT happen on a game of this caliber... things that look like they appeared in Doom... the original PC Doom.... I even changed TVs cause I thought it was my old crappy one... but no... the plasma flatscreen is the same... Am I the only one on this?

A tip on the controls that may or may not help. This game uses WiiMotion+, but sometimes the controller will try and use IR even though the game doesn't use it. I read a few people had problems like what you described and what they did was they covered the IR sensor with either their finger or, more practically, black tape or something similar and the problem was instantly fixed. Also, shaking the remote too much or too far will throw off the calibration. The game only needs subtle, but deliberate, strikes and movements. It's not supposed to be a waggle-fest.
You can look at these videos just to check and see if you're doing it right (because at least ONE professional video game critic did NOT).
Controls Demonstration
That's odd to hear about the graphic problems... because I've encountered none of what you described. Granted, I'm playing on a big-screen SD TV, but the game looks great. The only graphical "flaws" I encountered were just the result of it being on the Wii. Never saw any glitchy spots or odd lines or anything thus far.

Yeah, I get evenly spaced vertical lines... especially in dark areas like caves... where its lighter/darker... essentially like bars of shadow... I;ve tried all the tvs in the house (4) and its always the same.
And those little blinking white points, they bug me to no end. I feel like im playing a Gamecube game.
However, beyond that, I am REALLY enjoying this game. I love so much how it encourages you to explore and get lots and just look around and talk to people. I love how many nooks and crannys there are... Im loving the story so far... even though I'm not far
The wold itself is great too, the characters are interesting, they look cool, the landscape and world design is great, the puzzles are AMAZING and the dungeon are blowing my mind! Trully a great challenge.
Also, I am really loving the weapon upgrade system. Unlike past zelda games, they really give u motivation to go out there and catch bugs and get items. It really puts Twilight Princess' bug side quest to shame... and I liked it! hahaha

Just learned Farore's Song
, the buildup is really good and all my boss fights so far have been great!!! Unlike Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, they actually went outside the box and instead of recycling fight mechanics and techniques from other bosses, they came up with new ones (at least so far) Just learned Farore's Song

Could not be bothered with Zelda games since the early 90's, but Zelda is THE definite console RPG game.... what has began loosing the RP element from the game but that is another story altogether...
It will probably be a godsent for the fans, and a solid game likely, but to invalidate Skyrim???

Hows the soundtrack? I love all the Zelda soundtracks, so the bar is pretty high.

I havent listened to the attached soundtrack, but from what i remember in the game, its ur typical Zelda soundtrack. A lot of familiar tunes, that are meant to remind you of different times across the Zelda saga.
This game doesnt have little awesome melodies like the Bolero of Fire or Nocturne of Shadow, but it has some good BG music, but the best IMO is the character music, Fi's theme is a personal favorite and I also like Groose's.
Nothing will ever come close to Gerudo Valley's or Twinrova's themes... but the music is nice nevertheless.

Sweet I'll probably pick it up over my winter break from school. I've heard nothing but great things about it. My favorites are the Fire Temple theme from OoT, Final Hours in Majora's Mask, or both Arbiter's Grounds and City in the Sky from Twilight Princess.

The game looks fantastic. To be honest, I've never actually owned a Zelda game despite Nintendo being the first system I always MUST get per generation. I don't reallt know why, I guess I alwsys spend my money on all the awesome Mario games. But since most of the main stream Marios are going to the 3DS, I turned my attention to Skyward Sword.
The gameplay looks like the most fun one can ever have with motion controls. Sure, Wii Bowling was fun and shaking the Wii remote to make Mario spin was... something. But THIS is like Wii swordfighting crazy monsters, man! I hear that this is one of the best games for the Wii and probably the best Zelda game of all time, which I believe after seeing five minutes of the game. It was tough not to watch an entire playthrough, but I don't want to spoil too much.
So Skyrim has a lot of cool stuff and MW3 is another Call of Duty game that people go crazy over. Well, that's not really what I care about; I care about fun, and when I look at those games, I don't see the fun the way I do when I see Skyward Sword. So I'm just going to forget about all the other games; The next game I'm getting is Skyward Sword.
