I really only liked Mario Kart double dash, I loved how each character had their own special item, and u could choose two characters no other mario kart game compared to that game imo. Im a sucker for nostalgia

Damn, picked it up today and it's pretty awesome so far...

I hate the fact that I do not have a Wii u...damn it!

My only complaints with this game are that I absolutely hate what they did with the N64 Rainbow Road and Birdo, Diddy, and Dry Bones were cut. Otherwise, it's flawless.

I got this few days ago and its helluva fun, but to be honest im not all that impressed overall.

Sure the graphics are great and there are a few good new tracks, but I dunno. It just doesn't feel that much different from the Wii version. The gliders and couple of new items are fun but hmmm I cant help feel underwhelmed.

Also Koopalings too many of them for my liking plus Metal Mario, Gold Peach and Baby Rosa are waste if a slot that coulda gone to others. Id have took out at least those last three 3 and left in Honey Queen, Birdo, and Wriggler and maybe dropped a few Koopalings.

Also, they should have included a Bowser Castle as Retro Track..

I would've happily accepted the one from Double Dash as a retro track, as it's my personal favorite out of the older games. The new Bowser Castle has claimed that #1 spot though, it's epic.

I'm loving this game. I finally bought a Wii U just to play this and Smash Bros when it arrives. This is a much better game that Mario Kart Wii. That game was shockingly imbalanced.

Agreed. I'd prefer them to be in over all of these Koopa characters. There's far too many of them. The unnecessary baby characters are pointless as well. Just like Pokémon, the games are being plagued with them.
I don't even think they used the full N64 Rainbow Road. It's nice to have it included but they could have done a better job with it. I'm also disappointed with the ramp on Royal Raceway. I can't believe they cut it down. The jump is so much less epic now.
One other minor thing that I've noticed is that the power up randomiser is heavily flawed. Giving you triple banana's or coins when you're in 10th or below in a race is extremely grating.

Royal Raceway was known for its epic long jump and landing right by the castle. The new one looks beautiful, but it doesn't feel the same.
And yes, Rainbow Road 64 was destroyed in this game... Image wise it looks amazing, but the whole 3 laps in one makes it horrible. That was the main reason I hated Rainbow Road in MK7.


And is it just me, or does the new Rainbow Road feels more like a futureristic kind of track.. Than an actual Rainbow Road?

Am I the only one that is a bit sad that they didn't add more Mario Kart Super Circuit tracks?

I loved: Yoshi's Desert, Ribbon Road, Bowser Castle 3, Sherbet Land, Sunset Wilds, cheep cheep island, etc.

That game had some of my favorite tracks.

That was the deciding factor me for. A Wii u system, plus Mario kart 8+free game+Wii remote (never owned the original Wii) for only $30 more than the system by itself. Seperetly it would cost an extra $100 for the stuff they are giving you. Just too good a deal to pass up if you have cash to burn on games.

Is it just me or on Mario Kart 8 the selection of items sucks?

Example:

Mario Kart Wii - If you're on 8th place or below you would get good items.

Mario Kart 8 - The item selection when you are behind is so bad. You rarely get good items. I remember being on 10th place and they gave me 3 mushrooms 2 laps in a row everytime I hit an item box!! I was so mad.. I caught up to 8th place at the end!
I just think the item selection is so bad on this game.
