Oh, and for the very few people here who know BTE through me, have any of you bought/downloaded their new album? It's different, a little catchier (just catchier, not less metalish), and Shawns vocals have improved alot. A few of my favourite songs off it are - "Plague", "Redeemer", "Absent", "Within" & "...Of Every Strain".

BTE being something else us citizens of Massachusetts (Massachusetans?) can be proud of, along with Shadows Fall.

But anyway, yeah, their new album is just a lot more straightforward/less "creamy" (speaking of melody) than "Against the Elements," and yes, the vocals are a lot better. He seems to struggle a bit less (though not without) with the high notes, and you can actually pick up on some/most of what he's saying. He sounds like he's got some control and he's not just growling/screeching incoherently.

Anyway, I like "Fleshengine Breakdown" (straightforward rock), "My Fall" (good to listen to when I'm in the dumps), "Plague," and "Redeemer." The title track is ok too.

I like Nightwish as well. Better than Evanescence IMO. Or are they going by "Mightwish" as mentioned above? Fatality.

I think this is another Mammoth. It's members are HUGE, they don't even need bodyguards. They sang a song called "I can't take the hurt anymore", it was on "Dollaraclip", a show about poorly-made videos on MusiquePlus, here in Quebec.

To Scorpion_Ninja987:

Those were to different comments I stated but I guess I wrote it wrong. My fault. (1)AFI is crap. (2) I can't stand death metal. I tried to make 2 different opinions but I guess wrote it out wrong...sorry.

To xcarnagex: I know they were a big influence on slipknot but it still doesn't change the fact that it gives me a headache lol.

-Sorry guys im a newb I dont know how to quote.-

Before I say anything else, yeah, "My Fall" is a great down and out song. Very Gothic metalish in the approach to the vocal lines and general flow of the song, if only all Gothic metal sounded as good as this then I might like more than 2 or 3 bands (Poisonblack, Sentenced, Moonspell) tongue

Unfortunately I overplayed Fleshengine and kind of ruined it by the time the album was released (I had the track a couple of months before the album was out), but it's a great song anyways (I wouldn't have played it to death if it wasn't). Shawn makes me think I'm listening to oldschool 'Tallica in that song, it's great. Even has the trademark "Oh yeah", heh.

I noticed that he was struggling less, the singing in "Absent" shows he has much greater control over his voice than he used to, some reasonably tricky lines in that. A huge step up from the first time I heard his vocals on their demo. I like the fact that they're more straight forward, my only one complaint is the lack of bass in the album. "Against The Elements" had alot of great bass lines (especially in "Mourning In Magenta", "Drowning Sun" & "Bastard Screams"), the bass on "Insect Song" though seems to be there for one reason - Make the guitars sound heavier. I'm a bassist though, so I would be picky about that...

Yeah, we're fans of Dark Tranquillity, thanks for comparing us to them! They're an obvious influence as far as guitar harmonies and groove go, but obviously we have a death metal influence as well.

yes, I am the drummer

glad you like it!

Top Metal Bands:

KITTIE!!

Jennifer just OWNS ASS on the bass!

My favorite albums from them are ALL of them. But the best outta the 3 is definately "Until The End" They have grown SO much since "Spit" and you can definately tell that there was alot of time and effort put forth into making this album. Although I can't forget about "Oracle". GREAT to blast anywhere and headbang (especially on the headphones in class) I encourage ANY of you that has ever doubted Kittie or is hesitant about buying this album to GET IT. You will NOT be disappointed. They can rock out just as hard as ANY male group.
Favorite songs: Charlotte, Raven, Wolves, No Name, Into The Darkness, Look So Pretty, and Burning Bridges.

And:

OTEP BABY!!!!!

I just LOVE her view of art and the way she expresses herself through her art and music. She can roar like NO OTHER woman on Earth! SEXY! Otep is definately a force to be reckoned with. "House Of Secrets", EXCELLENT! GENIOUS! Awesome album!
Favorite song: "Warhead" (INCLUDING THE VIDEO)

Others: Arch Enemy, Lacuna Coil, Pantera, Metallica, Megadeath, Killswitch Engage, Poison The Well, Crisis, and others that I cannot think of at the moment...

OH!!! Look for this concert coming soon to kick your ass at a city near you!!! grin
