hey all...i was just wondering if anyone but me thinks that this site should have a bit of a makeover and updates. i noticed today that the MK Warehouse is down? whats up with that? if its not to return than why not remove the link?

i noticed for a long time this site has not updated some things. i am not saying overhaul it or anything but little things like the game select menu is missing games in the series...has been for quite some time actually.

some new themes would be nice

the same member poll has been on the front for many months...new poll a week would be nice and maybe even archive the polls too...that would be something different

little things could be updated to make the site more fun and accessable...what does everyone else think? do you have any ideas?

I wouldn't mind a joke theme, like a Mokap or a Hornbuckle layout.

I wouldn't say a new poll each week, but yes, some things are brutally outdated.

Version 8 has been years in the making, but it ultimately keeps getting pushed back. There are a lot of factors that play into the reasons why. Getting all or most of the staff together to discuss the changes, outline the time table, etc is not easy. We all have different schedules and have busy lives outside of MKO.

Personally I'm in no rush. I like the design of the site. There are some features of convenience I'd like to be added, but nothing major.

the reasons are understandable but for others paying for accounts i think they deserve it. i myself don't have a flawless account because i don't see the worth in it. i love the site the way it is...don't get me wrong but if the staff can't get on the same page than why not get a new staff? just suggesting it. times are tough and i understand that but understanding does not make up for its flaws.
here is a random question...if the staff and or owner of this site was offered by the WB or MK team to buy this site...would it be considered?
another question...are you guys going to E3 this year and if so will you stream it?

There are other mk website such as TRMK and Kamidogu that have some really cool feature, and are regularly being updated. The lack of updates have made MKO slowly become unpopular over the years and this is really starting to show. Making features and updates can't be that hard. It's doesn't necessarily have to be a totally new version. But please.....this is starting to get old.

Is it really necessary for the whole staff to come together and discuss the changes, outline the time timetable...etc? Can't one or 2 web designers just call all the shots, and then show the results to the rest of the staff for approval? Just a thought.

I lol'd at the new staff comment.

Anyways, we're not in disagreement about the proposed changes for V8 but the main people who have the final say lead very busy lives and MKO is not their top priority. There is a great deal of work that goes into redesigning a site, adding certain features, etc. I know I'll get yelled at for saying this but in the end this is a fansite. You can't expect people to drop the important things going on in their lives in order to make MKO the absolute top priority.

As for your other questions, the decision to sell the site would be left to CCShadow. E3 is always a possibility, but there has been no interaction with Warner Bros. yet that I am aware of. Midway was much more hands-on with the various MK fansites.

In the end it comes down CCShadow having the time to get to the site and program in the features and some of them can take a great deal of time. MKO does not use a site template. It is created from scratch using a special code CCShadow created. He is the only one who knows it extensively enough to add the new features. He wants to do everything at once. It was hard enough for him to find time to be at our meetings and he is the one doing most of the work and has the final say. I'm starting to feel like a looping record here.

As for the rest of the staff, not everyone has been at every meeting, but all of us still have a voice and we have areas that we are in charge of. There have been meetings about site design etc, that Crow and myself have not been to as we have very little to add on that subject.

All that said I can still understand your aggravation at the long wait since V8 has been discussed openly on the forums by other staff members in the past. I can't tell you one way or the other that V8 will be launched in time for the next MK game or ever. Wish I could, but I can't.

Even if V8 never saw the light of day, the important thing is the updates, and even that's not all that relevant since there's nothing to report at the moment.

Personally I love the shit out of this website, I don't really care for re-designs or little extra features. I don't pay for my account so I can't speak for people who pay.
