Does anyone here watch the show Mythbusters? Its a show on the Discovery Channel where they basically test myths to see if they are real, or fake. They don't just figure it out through some calculations or anything though, they actually literally put the myth to the test. Some myths they've done are...

Which gets you wetter, walking or running in the rain?
Could an ice bullet actually work shot from a high power rifle.
Does the 5 second rule actually do anything?

One of my favourites that that they did was seeing if dynamite could actually clean a cement truck while dried cement was stuck in it. They went through with the test, it worked, but not great. They ended off the show with seeing how much you would need to blow it all out. The answer : Enough to blow up the ENTIRE cement truck. I'll just say that the episode ended with one huge boom...

I remember seeing one where they tried out to see if the shark from JAWS could really do the stuff it did in the movie.
... the frightening thing, it actually could, for the most part. The only thing that really didn't work was shooting an oxygen tank with a bullet to make it explode.

Other than that, I haven't watched TV in about a year, so, no, I guess I don't watch Mythbusters, at least not anymore.

Yeah I remember that one. The shark would probably kill it self doing the whole ramming into the side of the boat thing though.

Well running in the rain is faster. The myth was "Does running in the rain get one more wet as opposed to walking".

Anyway, I love the show but I only seem to catch it on occasion. Luckily I usually catch it on a day where they are airing a new episode.

Yeah great show.

If you were to fall off a building, grab a piece of plywood and sail to the ground - BUSTED

Quicksand is too fast and can't escape if you were sinking - BUSTED

Could a large amount of ping pong balls bring a sunken ship to the surface - CORRECT it actually does with a shitload of ping pong balls

Would a sinking boat/ship drag you under water if you were in the water (like the end of Titanic) - BUSTED

I've seen one. it was "Can someone actully swing over the top of a swing?"
The result it didnt work. Cool thing is they used that one Crash Dummy, attached rockets to the swing, and the swing went around with a blast!!

Yeah, great show, I watch it every Sunday, when a newer show airs, at least, new to me.

That cement truck episode was good, that 'boom' at the end was awesome. I don't think I've ever seen them laugh so hard.

Did anyone see this past new episode? The headline was "Breaking out of jail with salsa."

How the hell could you even do that!? I hope someone saw it and if so please explain.

What they did was spread the sulsa in big clumps around the bars and use some type of current (I think it was DC) to basically shock the salsa. It worked damn well too, Jamie had what used to be an about 1 inch thick bar made shrunk down to a couple mm's, maybe not even.

I saw a new one tonight, testing if bullets shot straight into the air could come back to earth with deadly force. Turns out nope, lucky for YoSimmity Sam, he hasn't killed anyone.

I like the one where they make a gun out of an umbrella.
It was pretty much a BB gun, just more powerful.

Anyone see this past Sunday's episode? There were more Vodka myths busted and for the first time ever, a myth that was not only busted, but confirmed and plausible! It was a myth about whether a bullet fired from a gun straught up into the air, would be lethal when it comes back down.

- MythBusters Stars Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara Are Leaving the Show

It's the end of an era for MythBusters: Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara are leaving the series. Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman announced the fan-favorites would depart the show at the end of the Thursday, Aug. 21 episode of the hit Discovery program.

Kari and Grant took to Twitter to share their feelings with fans after the announcement.

"I guess you guys are finding out the news right about now. After a decade of the MythBusters, we are no longer with the show," Kari said in a series of tweets. "Thank you to all the fans who have supported us. The show is taking a new direction. It was an amazing run. I learned so much about myself and the world. I love you all @MythBusters. I am sad for an ending but there will be exciting new adventures for us."

Wow! Any fans of the show? What do you think?
I'm still reeling from Scottie's quiet departure.

- 'Mythbusters' reveal new format, explain cast changes -- exclusive [SPOILERS]

Mythbusters fans, here are the answers to your long-simmering questions: What’s the deal with those cast departures? How will the show’s format change now that co-hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman are on their own? What myths will be tested in the upcoming season? What’s the one myth the team regrets? How long will Mythbusters continue? And are Adam and Jamie still really not friends?

Like the show itself, interesting deconstruction of the process and very informative about the new direction, and Build Team departure.

Great read. I haven't watched Mythbusters in a few years due the show's shift into a more "scripted" tone, but it looks like they're reverting back to the classic, non-family-friendly- sketch-like days of old.
