It seems Xbox One has its own problems on launch. Let the war begin.

I'd say it's premature to say how bad it is, this short after launch. A good chunk of people could just be trolling. Unlike the PS4 launch, I find it a little hard to belive consider the PS4 problems where cropping up in early release systems. There was no mention of these problems beforehand with the XBO.
While I understand new tech does have a failure rate, I would be hesitant to say it's on the same scale as the 360 and RROD, like some people are claiming.

I don't know why people do that in the first place. There isn't one piece of 1st generation technology that goes off without a hitch. There's always a problem with it. So the Xbots who were jumping at the PS4's failure rate can now deal with their own failure rate. It was to be expected, that's why people get a warranty.
That's why I love early adopters. You people can buy the broken and defective ones so the companies can see the problems and fix it. While I buy the console months later with no problems at all.

Picked one up last night at my local Microsoft store. I was on the backup preorder list so I had to get there around 8pm. The way they handled it though was a mess.
They had us outside the mall in the cold in a line which I was on the later half of. They then said "hey we're going to flip the line to the door over there" so basically everyone who got there earlier was now behind me. This guy in a really legit Master Chief suit then gave us cards which listed games, warranty, accesories and pens to check off which we wanted. They had a bundle where you get a 2 year warranty on everything, 2 games, and a year of xbox live for $199 which in the end saved about $60 ($70 if you count the $10 gift card they always give you when you pick up a preordered game [i had forza preordered]). After that line which is also the line they rang you up on and gave you the UPC of your console itself, you got on a short line that had California Pizza Kitchen, Dominos, and drinks and had to wait to get into the mall itself. Once in the mall they divided us by "paid already" "didn't get to pay while outside was happening" and some third line across from the store. Some pretty shitty DJ played, we were crammed together, some guy kept bitching to me about the initial line flip. They did giveaways. One prize was a $500 gift card, madden 25, cod ghosts, a year of live, a year of xbox music. Other prizes included some small dell laptop, some tablets, beats pill, etc. Of course I didn't win those but I did snag two t-shirts that they were tossing into the crowd. Neither were in my size but I guess I could just sell them. They also gave out these obnoxious Xbox One Foam Fingers so I just gave mine to the person who was with me which led to a decent amount of nonsense. Eventually got my console and left around 12:15.
Setup on the console was short and straightforward. Downloaded Killer Instinct and played some of that. It's ok. Then hopped on some Battlefield 4 before I went to bed and the increased player cap certainly improves the game. No longer is the entire game spent trying to find someone. You can turn Kinect off. It is actually pretty neat to navigate with Kinect and to turn off and on the console with Kinect. So far I'm really enjoying it. Updates and games download extremely fast (KI is about 3.25 gigs and I don't think it took more than 10 minutes). No issues so far!

Sounds good ninjarock. I'm hoping to be on this evening. If you want to play some killer instinct or battlefield 4, hit me up. Gamertag: kabal31082. The same goes for anyone else who got an Xbox One.

Added you.
Played some Forza 5 finally and that game has fantastic gameplay and just looks beautiful. Really great racing game and I can certainly feel the step up in gameplay from Forza Horizon.
I have not gotten around to Dead Rising 3 yet. I have to pop that in at some point.
Also, Skype is pretty awesome on Xbox One. I haven't tried seeing if I could snap it for playing games at the same time. I know regardless of snap you can continue your call and speak to the person without seeing their video while you play a game though.

Anybody hear about this?

Personally, I find it quite pathetic and overall desperate.

I'm sure everyone has heard by now that MS is doing what it said it would never do. They are going to release Kinect-less Xbones starting June 9th for 399$. I might get one now that it's cheaper and doesn't have Kinect.
MS is also doing away with it's Xbox Live paywall where you have to be a member of Xbox Live just to use third party apps. So good news for Xbox users.

I think it's a bad idea to ditch kinect. A lot of people who adopted the system early really do like the features it adds. I was reading that 80% of current users actually use it regularly. MS is just pandering to the Sony fan boys and the other 20% that want nothing to do with it regardless IMO.
Not to mention that MS is gimping the majority of the multi media features they advertised with the system by removing it.
IMO MS would have been better off finding a way to get the price down to $400 with kinect. It's not like it's a struggle, they where offering Titanfall bundles which even included a game at $450, so scrap the game and take a temporary loss to move the system.
I also don't think MS really through this through ditching kinect. I think this is all a reaction to the industry article a few days ago that said MS could over take Sony by 2016 if they ditched kinect. Just like last year at E3 when a support group for the Military came out against the XBO because of the DRM policies and saying the XBO was anti service men. MS was very quick to jump on that and change things around. I think this is no different.

Pretty much the same. And the whole apps thing without live is pretty cool as well. Now, if they just launch some games that interest me, I'll probably try to get one now.

Xbox One without Kinect is such a good move. Still waiting for some games to buy one though.
Right now I'm only interested in Killer Instinct and Magic 2015.

I think them offering Kinect-less Xbones is good for everybody. People want options, and this gives them an option. It drops the price and is going to make Sony step it up.
I personally never saw the need for Kinect. All I care about is games, not talking to my console, or making video calls with Skype. Now I don't have to spend an extra 100$ on something I never wanted. I know a bunch of people who were turned off by Kinect, but maybe this will bring them back.
I'm not surprised it happened though. I knew they would do it eventually, and I'm happy they did. I am surprised at how soon it happened though.

I'm sure 100 cheaper and the new live policies, MS will see a nice boost in Xbox sales.
The problem now is that developers are not compelled to support Kinect. It's the same issue with every add-on. The idea was to ENSURE that everyone with an XB1 had a Kinect, and now that's gone by the wayside.
It's the same reason why PS4 isn't getting that much Move/Camera support.

It's not like they are going to stop supporting it altogether. If 80% of users are using Kinect daily, that 's still quite a lot of people.
