Official New Wave Of American Heavy Metal (NWOAHM) thread.

Over two decades ago, a music movement called the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), spearheaded by bands such as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Motorhead, took America by storm, and its influence on American metal bands made itself obvious in the form of bands such as Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth.
This time, it's America's turn to use its Metal music to do the same to the rest of the world. The New Wave Of American Heavy Metal, the successor to the almost-defunct "Nu-Metal", is starting to rise. This time, it's bands such as Chimaira, God Forbid, Lamb of God, Unearth, Killswitch Engage, and one of my personal favorites, Shadows Fall, that hold the future of Metal in their hands. I didn't even notice the NWOAHM until I read about the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal tour with KsE, Chimaira, and Shadows Fall in Europe somewhere.
Since Metal is somewhat of an underground genre of music, I don't expect this thread to last very long, but I don't care. I'm making this thread so that I can start a discussion about some of my favorite post-Nu-Metal bands with like-minded people. What would your favorite NWOAHM bands be? My top favorite of those would definitely be Shadows Fall. There is no denying the talent of Jonathan Donais once you hear his kick-ass guitar solos.

Finally, something worth talking about (even though the word official is in the title, but I'll exuse that
)
Seriously though, this is something I actually have talked with friends about for the past few months. It does seem that both Nu-Metal and Rap are starting to lose their grip on the majority, and real metal seems to be moving back up the ladder. Unfortunalty this comeback is being a bit dwarfed (heh I said dwarf) due to the sudden craze over EMO. But I don't think it'll take much longer before metal rules surpreme once agian. More and more I'm seeing old bands arising from the ashes (ex. Exedus, Fear Factory) and coming out hard. More and more am I hearing metal back on the airways, and even back on Headbangers Ball. The only thing I am somewhat afraid of is the possibilty of metal becoming the mainstream. It's been on the backburner for so long that if it was to become overly popular, what would we have to want after that? Truthfully I'd like to see it happen, but it would seem almost to good to be true. But we're going to have to wait and see. In the meantime, I'm going to keep growing my hair, redye my Dimebag goatee, and finally going to learn how to play guitar (even if it kills me!).

Metal Forever!!! Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, MotorHead etc...etc,..etc.. I can't get enough of it.
Listen to their earlier works, absolutely awesome. 80s to early 90s was the best time for music. I'm listening to The Best Of Both Worlds: Van Halen(they're new CD), and although it isn't "Heavy Metal" it still kicks ASS. For all of those "fast-fingered" solos, you owe it to Edward Lodewijk Van Halen's "Eruption". He's 47 now dudes, and his three new songs "It's About Time", "Up For Breakfast", and "Learning To See" have fucking fuel in them. Don't ever forget Van Halen.
