Hmm, he might pull this one off.

Hell, even Uwe Boll had an absolutely genius narrative stroke in his Auschwitz movie that was genuinely "damn, that's really, really smart". Only if he could bring these moments on momentary basis.

I watched Mortal Kombat, Event Horizon and Resident Evil: Afterlife last week, and really had to lament on the fact that this guy clearly has some talent. It'd be nice if he could wear his influences a little less obviously, but getting away from adaptations where that is more intrusive, the guy could at least be making some very satisfying popcorn, genre cinema.

Not sure if a film based on Pompei is the departure from licensed adaptations he needs, but I suppose it's a start.

Can't read the link, on cell internet. Is it about Gnaius Pompeius Magnus? aka Pompei the Great. I always liked Pompei, far more than Caesar, though Crassus is the only triumvirate member I truelly identify with.
