To ease the heat in here......

Sequel, or retread of the first game with details added to continue the story? Does anyone know yet?

Considering what we know (which is the picture with the Black and White Kyurem with a logo that has a 2 on it)... I'm betting it's a sequel (because of the 2, and 2's are usually sequels) to the original BW, and hopefully it'll have a new area and take the Gold/Silver/Crystal where you can visit the original region (in this case Unova) after beating the elites...

This is Pokemon, not another series. Slapping on a 2 might make games from other franchises a sequel, but Pokemon has never done sequels, so there's a lot of reason to doubt there. The 2 could mean fuck-all, you know.

Scoff all you want, you don't know anymore than the rest of us, especially with something as unexpected as this.

Except of course that this is the first time there's been a 2, and if they have been changing/adding things with every generation

And I never said I know anymore, I'm just using logic...
Weren't G/S originally going to be called Pokemon 2?

My logic is just as sound as yours. This is the series that has used the same formula for sixteen years, after all. It's safe to say they aren't willing to shake things up too massively.

yep. They're basically sequels to R/B/Y, just no "2" slapped on

This is the first sequel within the same generation, so it should be intriguing. I'm hoping it's not just a rehash of BW's story with a modified legendary.

I haven't played the Pokemon games since Y/B/R, G/S/C and Stadium/2 but I'm always interested in where the series is going to. Instead of constant remakes, could it be better if GameFreak focused in creating sequels for the classics once in every while i.e. Blue 2 and Red 2?

Interesting. I was going to say that Gold and SIlver were like sequels to Red and Blue. Everyone was so sure that the third version would be "Grey." I'm excited to see that they surprised us with two sequel titles to choose from instead. "Cash grab by Nintendo?" I have to disagree. But if you're one of those people who must purchase the same game twice, then I feel bad for you and your affliction. I still never beat Pokemon Black and I've never picked up the third version from any series. But I am excited to see what happens next.

I hope the Legendaries are just new forms and not entirely new Pokemon.

So I just remembered something else regarding a Director's Cut (Pokemon Grey Version)...

With Generation 3, the games were released in this order:

Ruby/Sapphire
FireRed/LeafGreen
Emerald

While B/W 2 are obviously not Generation 3 remakes, it's possible that Game Freak could be doing this again, and releasing the Director's Cut after the second games of the Generation...

Unless B/W 2 is the director's cut... which would suck.

I'm hoping there's a new region, and then we can re-visit the Unova region directly after. G/S style.

Also to ninja dude getting all pissed, the R/S remakes will come. They're gonna be on 3DS. Just look at past patterns, remakes are never on the same system as the previous remake. FR/LG on GBA, HG/SS, on DS, next will be R/S on 3DS. Be patient, they're doing their normal cycle, but with some additions.

If Pokemon Grey would come after B/W2 games, should it be a chronological prequel to them? I.e. if B/W2 will leave things unrevealed.

It could very well be a cash grab by Nintendo. You'd have to be very naive to think that they wouldn't pander to the people who buy both games just to make a little (or a lot) more cash.

Ruby and Sapphire combined sold 13 million copies.
Emerald sold 6.32 million on it's own.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl sold 17.57 million combined.
Platinum sold 7.43 million on it's own.

See the pattern? It's hard to disagree with the figures, isn't it?
