It's always been enacted as 18 and older to be viewed due to its content and best suited for mature people, but does anybody beg the differ? If sniveling kids were to watch it, they'll get a completely different concept and think women should really be oppressed. Your thoughts and opinions?

How do you figure they would think women should be oppressed???
A lot of people say porn degrades women and it's not true. Men star in porno films too, and nobody is holding a gun to either of their heads making them do these things.

Honestly, I think the appropriate viewing age for pornography should be early teens, around 13 or 14. I mean, by that age, you've most likely seen pornography/seen a naked woman/had sex. And I belive most teenagers around that age are mature enough to handle it. I'm sure soccer moms will disagree, but they're Communists anyway.

Dunno about newhere else but the viewin of pornography carries an 18 certificate.....

However, the legal age of consent is 16yrs old..

So, in theory, ur able to legally HAVE sex at 16yrs, but unable to WATCH it until ur 18

Hmm okay then.

A good question...Very hard to anaylize. Generally, in porno films, women are portrayed as slave-types, granted, no one is forcing them, but young children have to big of an imagination, and a lack of common sense, so their perception of these films could have a HUGE impact on their view of women, and how they are treated.

I say researchers just run a few experiments. Take an infant and raise him in a different household every week. Every seven days you move the child to a different family over the course of ten years. This way you don't have any of that "parental concern" stuff getting in the way. Now, every day you force the child to watch Ron Jeremy films over and over and over. Then, after ten years you let the child out into the world to do normal things like go to school, make friends, and watch porn. All you have to do then is observe how this child grows up over the next decade. If he's normal by the time he's fully grown then you have an answer. If he freaks out then you can "terminate" the experiment and start over with a different child.

There are just as many "women in power" porn movies as there are "women enslaved" movies. It's not about degrading any gender, it's about fantasy and that seems to be a popular one. I do understand how that can affect someone's views on the opposite sex however it just depends on the kind of porn you're watching. If you're too young to know the difference between fantasy and reality then you shouldn't be watching such things. So bottom line there is educate your children before exposing them to sex films. It's just sad that it's not always up to the parents when they are exposed to them.

As for what age to do it, people mature differently so you can't really answer this question. The only thing you can do is set an age where MOST people would be mature enough to handle such things, which is what the government has done and that's 18. Some people never really mature, and some can mature as early as 12.

As for actually having sex, I don't like the fact that people under 17 are having sex but I know they do anyway. That has nothing to do with maturity, it has to do with consequences of those actions. Having a baby or aquiring an STD at that age can be devastating to your future and screw up opportunities you could have had. I don't care how mature you are, if you have a baby when you're still in school, you have a hard life ahead of you.

Does it really matter??? Anyone with internet has pretty much unlimited access to porn... sure, u can't walk into a sex shop and buy some... but you don't really need to anymore...

Well, my opionion, is that by 13 most people have seen a naked member of the opposite sex (most likely not in real life but stil). And usually 13 or 14 is the age children learn about sex. I think they just don't want people those age watching it because it would be a lot easier to get hooked on.

Otherwise, I don't think it would be too much on a teenager. There's always that kid in middle school that spreads around the truth about sex. There's no way to escape it, so, there is not much point in restricting people from watching people get naked.

But having sex before getting out of school, is a touchy subject. If you are really careful, you couldn't totally prevent something bad happening, but you could reduce the chances by a lot. But those risks are still too much, in my opinion, for a student to be worrying about.

Keep at age 18. Teens these days don't have enough sense as it is to be granted freedom to oogle boobies on the internet all day. It degrades women, promotes oppression, blah blah blah... Anyway, pornography can be a very dangerous thing at times, and I think they should keep the age limit that they have. I've known too many people's lives screwed over by it (pardon the unintentional pun). Fatality.

it wouldnt matter at what age since kids have so much freedom now adays, you'd be lucky to ask a girl(<18) how many guys shes been with and be able to count them on your hands... no matter what age you put it all kids are gonna watch it, the sad thing is that it can warp their sense of sexual independance. I mean is there a difference in sexual terms between a 13 year old virgin and a 30 year old virgin?
