GTA introduced to us the wonderful world of crime in games...Driver took it to the text level by being able to semi freely roam in driver 2. But then the ground shook and GTA3 was released and since then there have been many spin-offs but the good thing bout this genre every one the the GTA spin-offs had its own twist i.e. Mafia was so old school that it ruled, True Crime focused more on fighting crime, Getaway had duel stories,, and GTA Vice City is the hottest sellin game of all time!! and Driv3r is gonna be more about obviously driving than all of the previously mentioned games...
Now seein as though this genre is never gonna die( There are sequels already planned for getaway, True crime, and GTA as well as new franchises as NARC(MIDWAY), GOdfather(EA), as well as efforts from Acclaim and eidos coming soon) what do u think of this genre...i myslef have beaten all the mentioned games including GTAs 1,2,and London 1969... how do u think this genre is shaking up the Video-game world...also which one is ur favorite??

I tend to like those sorts of games, they're usually pretty fun to play. My favourite (that I've played, I don't own any consoles and haven't for a long while) is probably True Crime. I'm not hugely into video games, so I mostly care about eye candy, and being able to smack some guy senseless then give him a stepping sidekick to the face and knock him through a window is cool as hell
As for how it has/will affect the gaming world... Beats me man, I just play the things from time to time.

It's getting annoying now with all the crime games.True Crimes was just hype,Getaway was just non stop cursing and stiff, and Mafia I havent played it.There should be only one Crime game and that is GTA and maybe Driv3r it looks okay from the trailers I've seen.

In my case, crime-based games are like therapy. U
?
Lets take GTA for example:
Whenever I come home from driving pissed off at an idiot driver I pop-up the game and release my anger. I actually recreate the scenario then do all those things I wanted to do in real life. If it was a pedastrian crossing the street on a no-crossing light,..well you get the idea.
However, I do seem to have a growing back-firing problem going on lately. Last time a pedastrian did that, I actually ran over him. Then I took on the other pedastrian and he didn't cross the street.
...I was wrong these games are not helpfull....or are they? 0.o

thios is very true. the notion that violent games cause us to be more violent is not true. it can be, but only in extreme cases where the person involved is unstable to begin with. also if u look at the numbers of people who play violent games to the paltry handful of violent incidents where games can be blamed ucan see utterly no comparison. there is such a tiny nuimber of those events compared to the millions of people who have played violent games. psychologists actually see such games as a way to RELEASE violent urges is a socially acceptable manner just the same way as punching a pillow or going for a run is when u r mad.
