I'm ashamed to admit how much I enjoy the entire franchise. Terrible representation of what I think of as a good 'Resident Evil movie,' but unto themselves they're a lot of fun. Will probably wait for the DVD, but I'm pretty keen. The last one was really good. I like the aesthetic direction they've gone in.

It's not out here in the UK until the 28th for some godforsaken reason.
I imagine they want some of the cast over here to promote it or something and it would be easier after the USA release.
Very annoying having to avoid sites I've been frequenting since early development of the movie.

But anyways I love these movies, I'm excited for Jill and I love Milla Jovovich so hooraaaay!

Sorry fans but these movies REALLY need to stop being made. I just don't see how people like them. I really don't.

I've enjoyed the franchise, but Apocalypse and Afterlife were two of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I'm just hoping the franchise will end soon so they can reboot the series as more horror and game loyal.

The involvement of some zombie dragons, or whatever creatures they were in the trailer, made the movie lose a chunk of credibility in my eyes...

I've never seen one single Resident Evil movie... I have no idea why Retribution strikes an interest all of a sudden for me.

I've seen that this and the last movie are trying to input so many elements from Resident Evil 5 in the films and it looked horrible. I'm still trying to see what is it that's making me kinda want to go see this movie. I don't want to, I doubt that I will, and probably going to wait for it to come out on Netflix to actually see it. I will agree with the others, they should have stopped making these movies.

I will admit something did make me laugh with the commercials. When they were first previewing it, they showed one of the infected, which I believe was Alice's old partner, with her mutated mouth opening up, they censored it after seeing that commercial again. She just looked like a typical zombie instead of having that mouth thing going on.

Like a one second glimpse was really horrible.

These aren't just maladjusted transitions of Resident Evil to the big screen, these are overall bad movies.

I am not interested in the director's self-indulging masturbatory fiction of elevating Mila Jovovoich into superhuman heights.

Battlefield Earth was more entertaining than everything after the first one.

the movie was good. i actually like it better than afterlife. for me ada wong was my favorite character in the film. there is also leon, valentine, few other reconizabile names.

if you think it's like the games your wrong but they do try to incorperate things from the games like monsters, guns, characters.

the ending was cool.

it was more action than horror but i knew this before i went. the action is good, fighting scenes are decent, cgi effects are sweet.

would of liked it more if leon was more comedic like how he was in re4.

they showed a cool trailer of devil may cry reboot trailer.

overall it was good film. i'd give it a 7.5 - 10.

1 Resident Evil: Degeneration 9.0 -10
2.Resident Evil: Apocalypse 8.5 - 10
3.Resident Evil 8.0 -10
4.Resident Evil: Retribution 7.5-10
5 Resident Evil: Afterlife 7.3 - 10
6.Resident Evil: Extinction 7.0-10

i have not seen Biohazard 4D-Executer. so i can't tell you how that is.
i have not seen Resident Evil: Damnation yet because it's not even in japan yet.

there's talk about 1 last film if this one does good. which how they ended this 1 there's a big chance of another film.

hum... but you haven't even seen one, where does that opinion come from?

I truly wish Apocalypse had never ever been made, it was abysmal in too many ways to list, and it was really what set up the future of the series as a Superhuman-Alice action movie. The first resident evil movie is a fine action thriller, that could have actually connected to the games.
Apocalypse was probably my biggest disappointment in theatres ever.

You're alive??

I wouldn't say the ones after the first were less entertaining than Battlefield though. IMO

I hate the live action films, but please, anyone here who agrees with me but has been holding out on watching Degeneration for that reason, stop and go watch it now.

Degeneration was spectacular, how any video-game movie should be. Also, it actually tied into the games.

I thought Degeneration was absolutely awful, worse than any of the live action films. It fit into the games with Claire and Leon's characters, sure, but I felt the story was lousy, there was no decent action or horror scenes, the animation and lip synch was shit and the story bored me to tears.

Old school RE fan. Loved the old games. I have never been a fan of what the movies have done. I am actually in the thinking that they have just destroyed the story.

That being said. I love them for what they are. I accept them. I enjoy them. Nothing more, Nothing less.

That being said. Degeneration was AMAZING. canon to the story. handled the characters and universe, respectfully.

Cannot wait for Damnation. and then RE6. I have days booked off of work, for that bad boy.

I kinda stopped caring for RE after re 4 and Resident evil extinction. Never seen any after that and never got around to beat re 5. I like the story for 5, it's just the fact that it went more towards the action. Wasn't that scary. Steroid Chris made it feel as if nothing will be scary at all cause the old games you were just a guy with some combat training and that's it. Just a cop in a dying city confused on the shit is going on. That'd be scary. In RE5, he fucking knows everything inside out.

Just didn't like it. Oh, and the first RE movie was the best one in my opinion.

Agreed. I hated it.

I'll see this movie though. I've seen them all so far. Why stop now?

I just watched Damnation, as you can buy it off the PSN now before it comes out on DVD on Tuesday. And honestly. That movie was WAY better than, RE:R.
Btw, I've had, Cabin in the Woods, now off of psn for almost 2 weeks before it comes on on dvd and blu ray on Tuesday, just saying ;) lol

I use to hate these films, but watching the trailer for the new movie is just surreal. I look at the first film and think, "how did we get here?" I don't know if it was because the creators had no faith in the source material or if someone just wanted to tell their own story by riding on the ideas of Resident Evil, but for whatever reason, the first RE film completely distanced itself from franchise's characters. Fast forward ten years later, we're seeing a live-action version of Leon and Ada. It kinda trips me out.

Sure, they've been incorporating the game's characters since Apocalypse, but back then, it felt like the RE characters were taking seats in Anderson's world. The new film is the reverse: it looks like the actual Resident Evil series if it had eaten all of Anderson's shitty ideas.

And if anyone like's these movies, this is not me judging you. The storyline from the games isn't exactly perfect either. It's the characters more than the story that keeps me coming back. And anyway, the necessity of the video game movie is dissolving. With the level of graphics, writing, and voice acting in games today, the idea of a game adaptation kinda feels redundant. Although I was dissatisfied with MK9's story, it still beat the shit out of the two films.

These movies are a demonic child which should have been aborted before birth. I'm sorry, but I can't stand them. Loved the first because it actually was engaging and had it's moments it was scary, but what they've done to the series since has been an utter joke. If Anderson really wanted to provide Fan Service, he'd stop making the films and put a bullet in it's head. I actually laughed at some of Claire Redfield's dialogue in the last film and don't get me started on Wesker, I've seen more believable Cosplayers.

For characters such as himself, Chris Redfield, or even Leon, none of them should ever be considered laughable. To me they're as iconic as the likes of Sub-Zero or Scorpion, and should be given decent, engaging portrayals on the big screen as opposed to vomit watered down with piss portrayals. Even with the enemies Alice faces, NOTHING is explained. Like the Executioner in the last movie, how in God's name did it go from having a barren, wasteland desert type world where the zombies didn't even look remotely human to them suddenly being able to spawn mandibles out of their mouths and grow to gargantuan sizes? I know in films like this you're supposed to leave logic at the door, but seriously, don't get me started with these films. They throw things in just for the sake of it hoping it will be cool, when personally I think it just falls flat on it's face.

Reboot the series with a new director, start off with the mansion incident, move on to the Raccoon City outbreak (covering Jill, Leon and Claire's stories) and then jump from that film to Re4. Cover the golden stories, put the good shit to screen, and hopefully allow this horrible attempt at a RE movie to rot away 6 feet under.

Yeah but we got Dredd 3D early so I say it good deal

I have watch the first 3 resident evil and there all right if you watch it in right frame of mind but problem I got with is they choice stuff from game and stick it in movie for no good reason apart from that it looks cool. So depends in my mood because if I want to watch film just for action then I would be happy to watch resident evil movies but only if DVD is cheap or on telly but other times I wouldn't bother.

I'm giving new one a miss for now but might watch it in future.
