Resident Evil: Retribution
I saw this movie, and it was so pointless. It's like, every single Resident Evil movie has been about getting from point A to point B, and having as much action as possible with as little character development and plot as possible.
And in the end, every movie ends with a stupid cliffhanger that shows you that the past 90 minutes made no difference in the plot, and that there's something "bigger" about to happen, but then you watch the sequel and nothing happens.

I like the RE movies. You have to take them as a separate thing from the games. Loosely inspired by the games at best, they are their own creature (no pun intended).
I LOVED Afterlife. I thought it was fun and its actually a movie I enjoy watching many times. Its like the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, they arent meant to be taken completely seriously, you just enjoy the ride. And in that aspect Afterlife was great.
That being said... Retribution was a big blended cup of WTF!!?!?
They basically tried to do a sampler of monsters/situations and characters.
Why Wesker is alive and helping humanity goes totally unexplained.
The movie has patches of brilliance but its ruined by the overall lack of cohesion. The suburbia scene i think was really well made. That scene where Milla Jovovich goes "I love you" a she tries to smile and a tear runs down her cheek was great. Same when they try to escape and Rain helps them,
The whole Clone-factory thing creates about 583458 plot holes in the story tho. Why not make an army of Super Alices instead of lame zombies and superlickers?Or an army of Plagas Rain instead of just one? or even an army of Jills?
How about the mysterious absence of Chris and Claire? Of course the actors did not want to return or they were asking for too much money.
Speaking of plot holes, why is the Red Queen suddenly trying to annihilate humanity? Originally she killed everyone in the facility to preven the spread of the virus. Why is she all of the sudden attacking the world?
Oh god... and those Barry and Leon... most obnoxious representation of videogame characters ever. I wanna say they are as bad as Sindel.
That whole A-team thing was stupid.

The next movie will better have Chris & Claire back.
Even bring out Sherry & Jake Muller from 6.

I will agree with the others, they should have stopped making these movies.

You probably might have an issue with this, but it's all right.
My boyfriend and I will go see a movie as long as it has a good rating on Rotten Tomatoes. So far, that site hasn't steered us in the wrong direction when it comes to ratings.
All of the movies haven't been rated past 40% on the Tomato meter, and we tend to steer clear of those that suck.
We went to see Dark Shadows since I'm a nutcase when it comes to Johnny Depp, and Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 38%... I have to agree. Looper was 93%, I have to agree.
That's just how I sometimes judge movies. It might not make sense, some might dislike how I judge movies, but that's how I roll!

My flatmate & I completed RE5 co-op mode last night, and we watched Damnation about a week ago, we're on a huge RE kick at the mo. Love the newer games and the CG movies, they definitely know how to tie in the storytelling inbetween game & film to get a full picture of the RE world: much better than the Matrix tried to pull off.
As for the live-action films, i like them, BUT... they really have nothing in common with the RE franchise apart from character names, zombie dogs and women in tight clothing. They might as well call it Residual Evil (all the stuff that's cut out or left over from the ACTUAL games that, when shoved together makes little sense because of poor exposition). But these films are still an enjoyable watch with bucketloads of blood, so i'm happy.
