you should't have to go that deep although there are some bad bugs out there. what o/s are you running? is it up to date? do you have the spybot1.3? and if so, have you immunized while using spybot. that helps from some re-accuring probs.

With the PWSteal.trojan thing, its a Trojan Horse Virus. That means you have to get ANOTHER scanner that deletes Trojan Horses.
Sorry, but I dont know of any I could reccomend!

hmm if Norton antivirus detected the virus it should be able to remove it, if it came up access denied to PWsteal when norton tried to remove it it means it's being used and is in memory, just restart in safemode and run norton again it should be able to remove it. also check what programs load in the startup, there should not be any programs loaded from the system directory ie any from C:/WIndows/sytem32/"name of exe file" this is a virus, startup is only for applications not files or programs contained in the Windows system directory, if you have any un-tick them
to check your start up if you dont know how do the following
1.click on help and support
2.under pick a task choose use tools
3.then choose system config util from the left panel
4.click on open system config util form right panel
5. then click on the the last tab that says startup.
