I liked the movie, but it wasn't as good as I hoped.

I wanted to see more character development, a longer battle time like more stalking, the combo of the girl with the 3rd predator seemed kind of wrong to me.

I think the predator should just have ignored her or allowed her to live instead of becoming hunting partners.

I think the first 2 predators should have lived longer and killed more aliens, I think they died too fast.

The aliens grew up way too fast, and also there weren't enough humans to make that many aliens.

I loved the fight with the second predator and the final fight was pretty kool too.

I think the movie went by too fast.

It was a kool movie and I enjoyed watching it, but it left me wanting a bit more.
AS a percentage what would you guys give it?

The original story for Alien vs Predator was a book. In the book, the Predator's do end up taking a human woman with them and training her. You can't just look at the movies and consider that the end all be all Predator/Alien reference. Both of their backgrounds have been expanded upon in many different books.

Any reviewer that said it destroys both franchises, needs a reality check. There's not a lot of people out there that think Alien: Resurrection has any part in the Alien series. For a lot of people, the Alien series went downhill on that one. And, there's only ever been 2 Predator movies. The last one being in 1990. I'm quite sure that for something to be a viable franchise, it needs more than 2 movies over the span of about 18 years. This movie didn't do anything but make a half way decent movie featuring both sci-fi monsters.

The movie started out fairly slow. And this was to offer some reasoning as to why humans were there in the first place.

The actuall character development was not there though. They majority of the characters were basically meat bags for the Aliens. And this was to be expected. If you want Aliens, you need people that are meant to die.

I thought the background story as to why the Aliens were on Earth to begin with, was done fairly well. The movie obviously didn't follow any of the books persay, but a lot of ideas were borrwed from the books. Such as the female lead character who proves herself worthy and gains the respect of the last Predator.

The PG-13 rating did hurt the film in some respects. The movie was no where near as gory as any of the previous films of either the Aliens or the Predators. The director actually was pushing for an R rating though, it was Fox that wanted the PG-13 rating.

The fight scenes were done in the "Gladiator" style. There were quick cuts and a jittery camera angle so it was hard to make out what was happening sometimes. But again, this is due to the PG-13 rating that Fox wanted. The movie was still good, but yeah, it would of been better with the R rating.

All in all, I was going in expecting it to realy suck, but it wasn't that bad. So I was pleasently suprised. Percent value, I'd give it a 80%, so like a B-.

I have stopped caring about movie critics review's becuase they are bunch of BS. Movie critics and regular movie goers have different views about how an entertaining movie should be made. I saw the AVP yesterday and I liked it very much. Even my girlfriend, who is not a big fan Alien and Predator series, liked it. I think it is worth to see it again.
Edit: Comic book fans are the same as Movie Critics. Their expectations are way too high.

Having not read the books or comics (Though I played the games), AVP was a pretty good movie, though far from as good as the original Alien, original Predator, or Aliens. The fight scenes were awesome, especially the one between the "Grid" alien and the pred with the cool mask. The FX were good, I liked how the laser sights deflected through the predator cloaking field. The characterizations were nonexistant, but that was alright, I wasn't expecting much. The only thing that really pissed me off was when the girl and the predator decided to be friends.

I saw a preview for Resident Evil: Apacolypse and man did that look awsome. Shes all cybernetically enhanced and the characters are all so cool. Anyways i was thinking of RE:A throughout most of AVP.

When they first saw the predators, they reminded me of jamaican men in costumes. The cold scenes were sending chills up my spine and i was cold and wishing I brought my sweater for most of the beginning of the movie. The fight scenes were awsome, but it was so annoying how the camera kept shaking and it was making it hard to keep track of things. the history lesson it taught was pretty cool as well. A single Alien vs a single predator was not as one sided as I had thought. Aliens actually could hold their own. Unfortunatly, my favourite character, the lesbian with crazy hair died, go figure, (but she does say a funny saying about a condom and a gun, which gets me wondering what lesbians need condoms for, but thats besides the point.) When the main character, Licks (what a funny name lmao) teams up with the predator, I wasnt shocked at all. I mean they were both black (not meant to be offensive). And there is a scene where he stares at her ass as she walks by right after she shoots her friend. The movie was very predictable, and that sucked. The ending was so obvious, i mean, you can't let one of your franchises fail can you? Oh yeah, and the pg 13 rating was very obvious. The battles still looked great imo, but you could tell they censored the language, and man this movie was suppose to follow the course of every other hooror/action movie. No damn topless scene. In the rated r version, the alien keeps burning Licks shirts with acid and she has to keep taking them off till shes topless. PS Alien blood was neon green and alien skull shields are awsome!

Well... it was alright for the price I paid. $6 to see that and I, Robot at a drive in. The main thing is, it was way too rushed, and almost zero consistency with reality. This was stated in an earlier post concerning time vs. facehugger/alien growth. The characters also had zero time to expand at all, as well as the story. It started, everyone got killed except one person, and it ended. The fight scenes looked like they could have been killer, but they were very choppy and quick. It seemed like they liked to use the Alien face to face with Predator shot a lot. Alien Queen was a bit too big, seemed bigger than in any of the other movies. Glad to see the Predators were on our side, they look so sweet.

The aliens did mature way too fast and that shot was so very overused. Character growth, bleh. i don't care for it. i thought the movie did fine without it.

Well, they could not make it exact for the time with the facehuggers. If they did, you would of had the humans running around for 45 minutes with no threat to them other than the Predators, and the Predators would of owned them in 15 minutes. So then we would of had another 30 minutes of the Predators twiddling their thumbs waiting for an Alien to show up.

The object was to provide a story as to why humans are in the middle of nowhere in the quickest time possible, get the Aliens and Predators on the screen together quickly as possible, and then create a big enough threat to the last Predator, and the last human. I thought it was done very well. If they had actually been correct in the timeline, it would of been boring waiting for about an hour and a half before the first confrontation with the Aliens and Predators.

The entire sped up alien growth time is my only real complaint. But its possible it took them hours to get out and around, but we just don't know. Lance Hendrickson (bishop) 's death was cool in how the Predator was going to spare him, but he attacked the Predator and the Predator was like okay fuck this... the battles were awesome, and the Predator and human woman teaming up is consistent with what happens in the books (the predators make her part of their clan in the books I think) and things like this happened in the comics as well... One predator fights another to protect a human in one comic... so that little bitch about the movie holds little water... I thought the movie met the my expecations, but didn't exceed them... I give it a B/B-...

SPOILERS
I kinda found that scene kinda darkly funny, yet stupid. You could tell Lance was getting on the Pred's nerves when he set him on fire, but the Pred didn't even yell in pain or anything, all it did was singe his dredlocks a little. With that display of limited patience, I was thinking that he'd just laser the human survivor when she tried to stop him from exectuting the near dead guy, not that I expected that to happen.

But yeah, my only complaints were the friendship thing (never read any of the novels), and the fact that the competance of the characters varied from scene to scene. The one genericly masked pred was axed as soon as the alien appeared, and the scarily masked pred who had kicked alot of human ass earlier was also killed in fairly short order. And generic looking pred II seemed ninja like with his ability to kill things sneaking up on him, yet in other scenes, he was tossed around like nothing. The aliens were dumber than they were in the original movies, except for grid and the queen. Still, it was a pretty good movie.

*Spoilers below*

I enjoyed the movie a great deal, it wasn't shakespeare or a movie on the intellectually storytelling realm of even the first Matrix but it was a fun movie all in all. I laughed during some of the cheesy parts of it but it was fun not really detracting of the film. I mean, it does not contend with the first movies of either franchise but watching the third predator pull some bruce lee/ninja shit on some of the aliens was just cool. I do have to say I did chuckle during the part where the Predator took off his mask in front of the woman... I almost expected a romance scene to follow and that was very amusing to me. Like I said, it was fun, I was not disappointed except for the fact that one goddamn alien took down two predators. The Alien Queen fight at the end was badass and I love the ending with the revelation of a PREDALIEN!!! I'm definitely getting it, I agree something was missing with it not being R so I will be waiting for the director's cut of this baby.

This was a fun movie to watch but it could have been made so much better and it felt really really short. The storyline is pretty gay and the movie isn't scary at all...which is the whole purpose behind Aliens and Predator, as people said "The two scariest monsters ever." Don't get me wrong though it was a good movie just isnt really what I expected and the ending was very predictable...7.5/10

Well this is a little late but I feel I should give my review of this movie so here it goes....

From the beginning it started off great, show how everyone (well not everyone)but most of them how they end up where they are.Actually i take it back it only shows like 4 people before you get to the ship. But for what I saw of this movie I liked.Cause you have to understand that this movie is not based on a book or from the comics or video games. So there for you can really say oh they did this wrong or didnt.

This is Paul w.s. Anderson's verison of AVP.So I have to also they note that this movie is not finish so its hard to really review a movie that isn't complete. We all know this movie was still getting edited up to a few days before its release. Why just a few days you might ask.Cause from working at a movie theatre you will find out that places like amc and carmike and so on get the prints of the moive 3 or 2 days before its release.

But if were going to review this based on movies before it,comics and videos games before it.Then yeah I feel Paul got alot of things wrong. But since its not I give this movie 8 out of 10.or 2 and a half stars.

The acting sucks but this is a versus movie not some award winning movie.I mean come on if you guys went it wanting a great plot or whatever then I think you should really thought about the type of movie you were walking into.Granted alot of things felt short i.e the fights, the scene where it takes place 1000 years before, and just the movie was short. But for the people saying it would have been better if they movie had been rated R I don't think so.Lets say they put a R rating on this movie it still would be the same movie.Sure I can't say I know what they were thinking(fox and paul anderson)But I do know PA was shooting for a R rating so try your best not to blame this all on PA.

I liked the ending even though I know something was coming up for there to be a second movie and just like the first one I will buy a ticket for the second movie a week before it comes out(assuming there will be one).

So in short, its a good movie just to be a movie so IMO B-.

so for a alien movie its a C-

For a predator movie its a B-

But until I actually see the entire movie on the dvd my opinion will be the same or change, probably change cause I feel PA AVP movie wasnt this and we probably wont see what he really wanted us to til the release of the dvd.So I just like to also add that I heard from a AMC manager that he had talked to a person at fox and they said there is like 45mins of unseen footage with longer fight scenes.
