When did this turn from being about cyber-enhancements affecting the human condidtion to fun things to do with root vegetables?
I don't think the kinds of additions you mentioned make a person any less human, since to some degree, they exist already. In prosthetic limbs and artificial hips (not so much wearing glasses - i think that was reaching a little too far?)
The real ethical question arises from AI, if a person would be willing to go that far. We all must know by now as computer users that they can become corrupted by viruses or breakage. It's one thing to programme traits into your own system functions, but you leave yourself vulnerable to outside malicious influences too. How much of yourself would you be then?

Let me check – the first mention of 'vegetable' was in the post #12 but the actual root vegetables came to the table in the form of vegetarianism by the post #18. Eating healthily is a vital part in transhumanism, you see.

To answer your "real question": we are vulnerable to outside malicious influences every day online and offline. We're being brainwashed every day by something; it's just your decision to choose the brainwashers. You would still be you with an outside cybernetic virus but you would be ill.

The question has nothing to do with ethics to be frank, my fella.

I know it's not the same, but we are already getting affected by outside influence which changes how we are inside. It's not the same as a virus or malware etc, however, through constant advertising, political statements, even our friends and parents - our own opinions and mindset get affected by all this, "reprogramming" us, however slightly.

Just finieshed Robocop 2014. Good movie in dire need of better action and definite charismatic badguys. Otherwise pretty correct attempt, second best in the franchise.

The point: if we are what our brain makes us, cybernetics could technically augment us to the point that we could eradicate unnecessary or malignant personality traits in a sense that perhaps schizophrenia could be held in check.

Just like when they lowered Murphy's dopamine levels when he got overexcited and couldn't function properly in the remake (mind you near nonexistent levels of dopamine weren't so appealing to his already traumatized family... almost spoilers).

But seriously, chemical imbalances could be controlled. Long term, we could define what we would or want to be personality wise. I do not however advocate a simple throwing a switch solution. And I do not think that would even be circumventable.

Also, the human body is not the pinnacle of effectivity and is most certainly not sacred or efficient in design.
