Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag confirmed by Ubisoft. The rumors are true: Ubisoft's next Assassin's Creed game is called Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. The publisher confirmed the title and offered a first official look at title art on its Facebook page, promising a more complete reveal on Monday, March 4, 2013, at 12pm ET. The art jives with leaked materials that were shared by Kotaku earlier this week. One poster offered a look at an Assassin-hooded fellow fighting with what appear to be pirates (a Jolly Roger flag is clearly visible in the background). The reverse side of the poster shows what appears to be a map of the game's world. In related news, All Games Beta shared a trio of box art images that suggest the game is headed to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U; the PS3 version apparently includes 60 minutes of exclusive content as well. http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/730183/assassins-creed-4-black-flag-confirmed-by-ubisoft/

Honestly I am very excited to hear this news, I can't wait to see where the story will take us from the ending of Assassin's Creed III. Assassin's Creed is my favorite franchise since it came out in 2007 besides Mortal Kombat for course lol. I just hope the new hero will be more like Ezio in terms of character than Connor was.

Another Assassins Creed game? You could have cut me off of any social media and anything using electricity after AC3 was released and I could have brought this news today. I've never been a fan of these games and probably never will be.

Every year, like clockwork.
I have given this series a lot of chances. I hated the first one. the second one improved a lot of my problems with the first, but still failed to win me over. AC III is the straw that broke the camel's back. It was...a cobbled together, very unfinished game.
No mas.
...Well I like the news.
Assassin's Creed is one of my favorite series. I'm not sure how I feel yet about not expanding on Conner, but with the current direction of the storyline I understand the need for all new things, assassin, time period, ect.

I just feel that it's too repetitive and hopefully that the third one isn't.

That's great, I love the series. I have III, but haven't had the chance to play it yet. Have too many games in my backlog I'm trying to clear up.

The existence of the next Assassin's Creed title was confirmed without an official title on February 7, 2013. The next Assassin's Creed, potentially titled Assassin's Creed 4 or Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flags (see rumor section below) will take place in a new time period for the franchise, and stars a new protagonist. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the "all-new Assassin's Creed hero, within an all new team and time period" will be "another major leap forward for the franchise" when it releases some time before April 2014.[1]
"It is the benefit of multiple teams working on multiple chapters of the product," Guillemot said, "each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin's Creed game."
Ubisoft Montreal has traditionally developed Assassin's Creed games, but a new team is developing the next Assassin's Creed. Guillemot did not specify which "new team" is behind the development of the upcoming Assassin's Creed title, or whether it will release on current or future generation platforms.
Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flags Rumor
According to a Reddit user who oversaw a Power Point presentation on a flight, the next Assassin's Creed will focus on pirates and be called Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flags.
Here is the entirety of the post:
"I was on a flight where the lady in the row in front of me was working on a powerpoint presentation on marketing strategies of several gaming titles. And one that stood out the most was AC4: Black Flags, aimed for release 2013 Holiday season according to her slide. It already had a cool looking logo for it. Unfortunately I didn't take any photo, just wanted to share it with all the AC fans, and give those who are trying to figure out the next story line a little hint."[2]
Contradicting this rumor somewhat is another tale of leisurely espionage from a second Reddit user, who claims the Black Flag(s) content is DLC.
"Whilst sitting in a San Francisco Cafe, I happened to overhear two advertising designers discussing a new piece of ACIII DLC, titled Black Flag, that will focus more deeply on naval combat. According to them, the tagline stands as "Survival is the Only Thing Worth Dying For," and the commercial being pitched involves an Admiral of the British Royal Navy attempting to arrest Connor Kenway on the high seas, whilst a Johnny Cash song sets the tone. The DLC is apparently nearly six months out and still in early development, but seems to be a definite project that Ubisoft is working on."[3]

It will be interesting to see where they take the modern day setting after the end of AC3. History wise though apparently it will be a prequel to AC3, AC4 will star Edward Kenway, the grandfather Connor and father of Haytham Kenway from AC3.
I'm not sure if I'm sold on getting the game though. The naval battles where the one thing about AC3 that I wasn't crazy about.

I'm hoping this is just a massive expansion of AC3. I dont want them taking the story too far after watching the end of AC3. They didnt exactly end it on a cliffhanger but they had the ability too. If they do an AC4 i dont wanna see it until the next gen gaming.
I for one enjoyed the Naval Battles immensely but it left a lot to want for. Not enough weapons, and not being able to hijack other ships pissed me off. One boat vs an entire armada and being able to come out on top isn't too realistic. The ability to control an armada of your own would be nice. Also the ability to command different ships would be very cool. The game has endless possibilities and endless locations that could be traveled to. In saying this I wish they would have made a completely new game for a pirate genre that I think could make a ton of money. Assassins Creed has been exhausted

i thought the trailer was bad ass. i know alot of ac fans are mad at this becoming a yearly release but seeing as i still havent played 3 yet ( waiting for price drop) i would prefer a yearly release of this instead of another brainless call of duty title from activision.
at least with ac they can do alot with the series and a part of me wants to see a viking and cowboy/western type version if they decide to go the spin off route.
or even better something with like norse mythology or greek mythology would be fantastic

2 and brotherhood are fior sure the best in the series, after that they got kinda stale and uninteresting
give brotherhood a shot you will probably like that, but you should play 2 to get the story maybe give it a chance it was the most ambitious in the series

i think thats because ac2 expanded into 3 games instead of just one
me personally i loved ac2 and brotherhood also
revelations was ok but i still think it couldve been a large dlc or something for 2

If you take like a year off playing AC then you might enjoy revelations more but still, it was underwhelming and tried too hard

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm?
What is ‘Assassin’s Creed: Rising Phoenix’?
If we didn’t know any better given the leaked image revealing something called Assassin’s Creed: Rising Phoenix, we’d say Ubisoft has a few leaks in their studio. Although the image spotted online seems to reveal a currently-unannounced project in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, there’s no further information on what it could mean.
But given the logos seen in the Rising Phoenix screenshot, we’d bet that those die-hard Assassin’s Creed fans will have more than enough to go on in spinning some crazy theories. Could Desmond Miles’ story not be over just yet?
The image has been discovered by Eurogamer, yet it isn’t known at present if it was leaked by someone within the studio, or simply dug up online. Credited as intended for circulation within the studio only, the image is also branded with Ubisoft Digital Arts’ name – the branch of the company responsible for series development in non-game areas.
To date, the studio has only been put to work in producing the live-action Assassin’s Creed: Lineage short film series exploring the Auditore family leading up to Assassin’s Creed 2. Since Ubisoft is still in the honeymoon period of their Assassin’s Creed 4 announcement, it seems highly unlikely that Rising Phoenix is anywhere ready to be detailed.
Whatever the case, take a look at the image for yourself, and see if anything jumps out:
Given that a PlayStation Vita-exclusive dose of Creed is expected this year, along with a possible social media tie-in game, Rising Phoenix could really be anything. Even a CG short film helping to explain the new mythology behind Assassin Creed 4‘s modern-day hero character would be welcome, since the developers are changing up the rules of their series a bit.
What stands out quite prominently in the image is the pair of lit insignia strongly resembling the corporate logo of Abstergo Industries, the modern-day Knights Templar. In fact, the logo is that of the Erudito Collective, a group organized specifically to oppose Abstergo (we don’t get how rotating a group’s logo 50 degrees embodies rebellion either, but what do we know?).
With Erudito’s past efforts to expose Abstergo and contact Desmond directly in mind – and the use of a ‘rising pheonix’ in its name – we’d bet that this project has something to do with Desmond Miles specifically. We’ve been asking how Desmond would fit into Assassin’s Creed 4‘s story for a while now, so we’ll have to wait and see if Erudito may provide an answer.
What are your theories on Rising Phoenix? Sound off here, but try to keep spoilers out of it. source http://gamerant.com/assassins-creed-rising-phoenix/
