MK9 AND MK vs DCU 2 are pretty compatible. The only thing that WB needs is send MK vs DCU material to other team diferent of MKTeam.

Why must we have Mortal Kombat in our DC Universe?
Or why must we have DC Universe in our Mortal Kombat?
While I assume MK Vs DCU2 will happen in the future why cant we have 2 separate fighting games?
MK one year, DCU the other. With two different teams working on similar engines.

Excellent!
I'm expecting the next MK game at the end of 2010,
any sooner would be cool but I like the 2 year gap between each game.
MK 4 EVA!!

MK 4 EVA!!
I honestly think more time should be put into this game.
Maybe the release date should be set for in 2011, or 2012.

I totally agree I would rather have had a DC Universe fighting game alone.

They better fucking make a new, bloody MK.

Too little too late.
MK is down with the twillight of the first decade of the 21st. century. Unless the premises change comlpetely. But that requires apocalyptic measurements of innovations which will not happen.

Better than Street Fighter, which has been using the same core gameplay since SFII, but because new installments are released rather infrequently, it gives time to build hype so people don't complain saying "WTF this is the same shit voer and over, just different graphics!"

Sure you have played SF3? Or SF4 for that matter?
I played Third Strike and SFIV, I dunno, to me, it's still the same, sure there are minor features, but the took away the just impact, a great feature, and the focus punch is just the guard break from the 3D SF, and it's not even that vital IMO. It's just always felt the same
I doubt WB would spend 33 million on midway and then just let them carry on as they have, that'd be why they are in this position.
I imagine that they will let development carry on as is but will have a big part of deciding what games get made and really push with the advertising.
WB aren't going to keep throwing money at a studio that doesn't make money, they can obviously see more potential out of midways franchises and thats why they have purchased them.
Lets not forget that WB also own the studio that make F.E.A.R and Condemned so i doubt they are worried about toning down the violence, and before it anyones mentions mk/dc that was only because it featured the dc characters that the violence was toned down.

WB is enormous. At least now we know production of MK games won't be hindered by financial problems.
This is good news.
But of course, when the hell are we getting a new MK game? I feel like we're months away from an official announcement.
God I still hope they're making MK9 AND SM 2.

"MK9 is over a year away. Probably too early to start talking details. Sorry."
So I guess all we do is wait

How could WB "win" a bid if there was no auction for Midway? Didn't they simply just buy them out? That seems like a better news title
