Evolving into is a bit of a misnomer. It suggests a guided effort. Evolution doesn't work like that. It's a reactive force. Something happens, genetic quirk survives better and takes advantage of the new environment.

Its made for people, regardless of age. Its a pretty deep competitive RPG, has an alright story, and there's tons of content in every game. Its just fun IMO.
