What would the world be like if we lost multiplayer? Not DLC or anything like that, but just lost the ability to play online? Would you be happy? or Mad?

Personally I'd be a bit happier. All these damn games nowadays like to focus on multiplayer and no campaign. Remember when all games back then had a badass single player and that alone was enough to give us a great time. Now we need multiplayer to satisfy our game lust (Or at least most people) I kinda hate it. I rather have a great single player game than some mainstream multiplayer game (Battlefield for an example)

What about you?

I would be indifferent about the matter. I enjoy my fair share of online games but at the same time I like single player games much more. Online has lots of issues anyway like trolls, lag, rage quitting, and all around assholes who take games way too seriously. In the end I would be happier without multiplayer.

I only play multiplayer games. So I'd be disappointed.

Let me count the number of times I've played online games in my life....maybe 3 times total and I'm 24 years old. I really don't like online gaming, never have, probably never will. I prefer single player games (God of War, Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry, inFamous, Castlevania) or games with local multiplayer (Smash Bros, Little Big Planet, New Super Mario Bros Wii). So, if online multiplayer went away I honestly wouldn't even notice or care. There's just something about online gaming that I don't like. I'd prefer to just sit and play either by myself or with people at my house. Even the FPS games, I look for the ones with good single player since I refuse to play them online. Games like Killzone, Crysis, and Resistance have great campaigns that I found very enjoyable. Won't even go online on them, I tried it a few times with Crysis and Resistance, and once again I hated the online experience. I wish more games focused on their campaign modes and less on multiplayer. It's also annoying that people freak out if a game doesn't include online multiplayer. When Batman Arkham Asylum was announced people freaked out because it was single player only, same thing with Bioshock and even Mass Effect 2. So, taking it away I wouldn't care one bit, as long as they leave offline/co-op multiplayer alone.

I'd rather have both, there is zero reason for any game to NOT have a great single player offline component AND a great local and online multiplayer component. The total package is where it's at because for me, I sometimes wanna play by myself, other times I wanna play with people.

The more options, the more replay value etc.

Shooters have long since abandoned this pursuit of having the total package of a great single player in favor of multiplayer only, total package is better than having one or the other to me.

Maybe you should've specified online or offline, because the only game I really play that is online is Team Fortress 2, and the only other multiplayer game that is really grabbing my interest is Twisted Metal, but that's going to have online and offline multiplayer, and hopefully I'll have my PS3 set up on PSN by the time that comes out.

If it's both on and offline, then well... I don't know what I'll do

Technically if the sun has a powerful discharge of solar energy, we'll all be back in the dark ages. The world of Iphones and twitter will be no more. Muwahahaha.

Ahem. Seriously though if someone takes away online gaming before I get to play SW:TOR heads will roll.

Most shooters just focus on multiplayer much like COD. But to me COD Black Ops actually had a great story. Instead of Modern Warfare which story sucked monkeyeggs. Plus Black Ops had the best customization in any COD. So Black Ops and MK are the only games I play online. But next friday they will be shelved for a while... Thanks to Skyrim.

Single player games are cool and all but I love me some online games.

Online Co-Op in Saints Row is most of the fun right there!

I really love a good campaign in a game. When I get a game, even a mainstream multiplayer one, I always play the campaign first. Most of my favorite games have excellent campaigns. However, I really like multiplayer and being able to play with people around the world. Some times I wanna have that interaction with other gamers. It's also really nice to play with my friends when I'm not at there house. I hate though when game developers work so hard on the multiplayer and end up making a shitty campaign or single player. But if we lost multiplayer it would sorta suck for those times I wanted to get some online experience. Online is also nice when you want some continued game play after beating the campaign for the millionth time.

Considering the fact that it wouldn't be in Mass Effect 3, I'd be a fuckton happier.

Considering the fact that it let me get to know some of you guys, I'd be hella sad.

Mixed reaction.

Online is a must but games should focus on both online and offline.

Online rocks, it's the only use i have for Street Fighter, Killzone and Resident Evil.

Love me some single player only too though, like the Arkham games.

QFT. No reason a game can't have both.
