I think the only time a movie has ever scared me was when I was a little tiny kid and I saw Jurassic Park. It was the raptors that did it.

My pick would also be "The Exorcist", and I don't see how a movie based on something real (except with a boy, not a girl) couldn't be considered scary.

It all depends on how old we were when we saw the movie I guess.

But from what I can think of and since being a teenager atleast. It would probably be Hellraiser 4

Yeah, much like some other people here, I've been watching slasher and horror movies since I was a kid. None of them were really scary. The only movie that scared me in any sort of way was The Core, with its perpetual defying of physics.

That's because it's impossible to make a unique, and scary movie these days. Plus people are much harder to scare these days.

I thought The Ring was pretty scary, and yeah so was Stephen King's It when I saw it too.

For me it's more of scary scenes rather than scary whole movies, i have yet to come across a movie that has scared me through out, tho i guess the blair witch has come close only cos i have been camping in wooded areas and hearing strange sounds does give ya the creeps big time so it kinda remined me of that, The Ring does have its moments , the Japanese version not the remake, when the women comes out the well then through the guys TV, damn good scene,

Personally, I didn't think "Ringu" was better than "The Ring", but it DID have a few parts that were better (read: scarier or creepier) than the American version (also, some parts that weren't even in The Ring, for example when they hear the audio part of the video.

Another thing I gotta add is that I didn't like "Ringu 2" that much, and if "The Ring's" sequel is gonna be based that much on it, I'm not sure if I'll rush to see it.
The Ring was a good scary movie. It was extremely suspensful, and I love that. It's like you follow the story as it's told. It's amazing. Panic Room was good. It wasn't scary, but it was a good thriller. Identity was yet another good scary movie, but it didn't live up to The Ring. The Exorcist gave me psychological problems for weeks! I don't know. Something about evil children, animals, and toys scare me. lol.

Its a tie between The Exorcist and The Omen. Try watching them by yourself on DVD late at night with all the lights off. You just don't get the same feel afterwards with a slasher flick.

Yeah i have to agree about the sequal i have that also and it goes to much in to the history of her and why she's down the well rather than her coming out of it and scaring the crap out of people which is what i'm more interested in, i haven't seen the remake as i thought it was just a complete copy of the Japenese version and wouldn't be any different or better is it worth checking it out?.

If by "remake" you're talking about "The Ring" (starring Naomi Watts), yeah, I consider it better than "Ringu", so I'd definitely suggest you check it out.

Movies these days aren't scary at all. The only time I got scared during a movie was when I was like three and saw the beginning scene of "scream".

havent seen too many scary movies but the bit in the 6th Sense when the kid walks into the hallway out of nowhere and says "Hey ill show you where my dad keeps his gun" and he turns around and theres a massive bullet hole in the back of his head. Scared me quite a bit, i get really paranoid after watching things like that.

And when i was about 4, Who Framed Rodger Rabbit scared the bajeebus out of me! Especially when the bad guy gets flattened by the steam roller and he walks around like some kind of paper man.
