As in, what types/genres of games do you enjoy?
Fighting games seem like an obvious one, but what else do y'all play?
I like fighting games and RPGs best. I like Western and JRPGs, and I prefer JRPGs for the most part. I know it's passe to love Final Fantasy, but I bought FF1 on the day it came out way back when... I'm a fan
I also love action, platformers, survival horror, strategy, etc.
(GoW, Mario, Zelda, RE, Castlevania, FF Tactics)
I hate sports games,
and I *HATE* shooters or any game based on war (certain RPGs and Strategy games excepted).
What about you?

Actually I don't think I would fall into any specific category when it comes to this. I just play games that I can enjoy without having my bloodpressure go through the roof like some gamers have in call of duty. I would guess I'm just an all around type of gamer.

First off, Welcome To MKO.
Second, I too am a sucker for fighting games and RPGs. I don't really play anything else.
If I do play in another genre, it would be either Survival Horror, Strategy, or Simulation (i.e. The Sims

Fighters are the only game I get really into. Everything else with me is pretty casual. I'll play anything that'll hold my attention for more than five minutes

I mainly play fighting games, but I also play action/adventure games as well. Every once in a while, I play some puzzle games, RPG's (The last one I played was "Final Fantasy 12", and it sucked) and survival/horror games. I'm not really into shooter games all that much.

Survival horror first and foremost. If Resident Evil and Silent Hill had a love child, I would probably try to marry it.
Love me some RPGs though, too, Western and Japanese.
Truth be told, I'm not really into fighting games much except for MK, and specifically the older MK games. I kinda stopped playing fighters entirely during Midway's MKDA - MKA creative drought.

I like all games really, fighting games of course being #1, specifically MK, and the Gears of War series has pretty much top priority as well. But yeah, fighting, adventure, action, shooters, racing games (good ones). My only thing that I actually hate is that I'm an extreme completionist, so whatever I'm playing I tend to get max Gamer Score, even DLC, out of every game.

I've gotten away from a lot of other fighting games. Pretty much just MK, and Soul Calibur. I bought both Virtua Fighter 5, and Tekken 6, and haven't even touched them. I refuse to buy into the new Super Street Fighter 4 after buying Street Fighter 4.
Aside from those I've been really into FPS. Halo & COD mostly. 3rd person shooters Gears of War, and tactical shooters like Rainbow Six, and Ghost Recon. Action adventure games Batman Arkham Asylum, and God of War. it really takes a special kind of RPG to get me to play it. I haven't really touched an RPG since Oblivion, and probably won't until Skyrim comes out. Before that the last RPG I've probably played all the way through was Final Fantasy X. I tried getting into FF 7: Crisis Core, but it just didn't hold my interest. Also mini arcade and retro games stuff like Braid, Shadow Complex, Limbo, Castle Crashers.

I like fighters that aren't overly complicated to play. I like shooters though I'm not great at them, especially with the TV I have here in college I can hardly see anything. Action-Adventure games are also entertaining to me. The only games I guess that I'm not REALLY into are RPGs, though I have played and beaten several, including some of the Final Fantasy games, Chrono Trigger, etc.

I've been here for a few months though- you even commented on my picture in the picture thread
I blame my low visit count.
I'm logged in at home, at work, and occasionally on my phone,
and it seems to see that as one *very long* visit.
For a while, I intentionally tried to keep my visits at 1,
but I gave up on that. It's still not accurate-
my number of visits is well over a hundred by most standards
If it listed the number of posts instead of visits, I wouldn't look like such a noob.
That's cool we have very similar tastes- needless to say, I very much approve!

Sweet. :)
Sorry for assuming you were a noob. I'm like the self-appointed MKO Noob Greeter, or whatever. lol It's just something I do to make the new folks feel at home.
All in all, it's nice to finally come across someone who actually has the same gaming interests as me.

-Love and am very competitive at fighting games
-Ridiculously good at shooters even though they aren't my favs
-Have a serious love for Survival horror (Classic RE and SH)
-Huge Hockey sports game fan. Mastered EA's NHL game to no end.
I am a unique breed to say the least. More driven by the single player aspect of a game. But I strive to to be the best out of anybody (a multi-player trait). I once sat on Killzone2 for 3 days straight to get the top 1% trophy just because I had to platinum the game. My OCD. so far ive racked up 8 platinums, 1 trophy away from MVC3 platinum and soon to have quite a few more.

I will play anything ranging from Horror games to Viva Pinata.
- I am really good at shooters (best at cod out of the people I know)
- If I put enough into a specific fighter I can be amazing at those. Mortal Kombat (2011) will be one of those games
- I have unlocked every medal in Viva Pinata (pathetic I know, but that game is so addicting)

Shit, i'm still working on them. I got the game the day it came out.

Were pretty easy for me, I think the most time I spent on one was about 7-8 minutes. SkiLLz! Anyway, the MK vs DC Kombo Challenges were far harder then anything in SF4, SSF4, or MvsC3.
Strategy games (Panzer General, Sid Meyer's everything basically, Command & Conquer games),
RPGs (Baldurs Gate trilogy discounting the atrocious console stuff, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, Mass Effect, Fallout 1-2),
Simulations (good old Eurofighter 2000),
And Duke Nukem and Doom.
No console stuff. Then again, most of the time I play two or three hours weekly so to call me a gamer is a misnomer.

Dude, I love NHL 11. That game is the best. Which team you a fan of?
And back on topic...the only fighters I really play are MK, MvC3, and the Soul Series. Never got into Tekken, DoA, or SF much. My main games are platformers and RPGs, but I love party games. My shooters are limited to Halo (and I'm probably still okay at Counterstrike) and sports games don't go beyond hockey.
NIntendo will always hold a soft spot in my heart, though.

I play a lot of shooters, which ironically if you'd asked me 3 years ago, I would've called all shooter games obsolete. I have come to realize how awesome the genre is, a little late to the party. I've played all the major ones, just recently beat Crysis 2, what an amazing game that was. I usually don't go multiplayer, I can't stand people online. I'm more of a single player casual yet competitive, though I do try my best. I keep all my games so that when I beat them I'll go back again to play through when I have some free time.
I'm also a huge fan of fighting games and some action-adventure. My main games are MK and Ninja Gaiden.
I'm also a huge fan of fighting games and some action-adventure. My main games are MK and Ninja Gaiden.
I like RPGs, JRPGs, fighters, beat 'em ups, sports games, and open world criminal sandbox games.
I'm also addicted to character creation, so if a game has a character creation component (and they don't drop the fucking ball like Mortal Kombat Armageddon), I will like it even more.
I don't play shooters much, don't like racing games, am ambivalent towards platformers (some are great, some are...rage-inducing).
In terms of my skill levels, I'm average, maybe slightly above average in some venues. I will never be a "pro gamer". My XboxLive Gamertag lists me as "Casual" which is fairly accurate at this point in my life.
I'm the sort of gamer who heavily researches the games he plays so as to find no surprises. Some people don't like spoilers. I don't like surprises.

I'm a fan of huge, open world sandbox games. As a result, I've always been a whore for Rockstar/Bethesda games. My favorite genres are probably real time RPGs and Action/adventure. However, I really just love a good story. I'm not as hardcore of a gamer as I was a few years back, but I really get in to anything except sports or racing games.

Yeah right what? I kind of misworded that I guess, wasn't "pretty easy" for me, I guess I was just trying to say they were easier then the MK vs DC ones.
