So, I thought about what you (and others have said) and you're right it's pointless for me to complain and get frustrated at the sparse response. Maybe I'm pushing my own personal expectations on the site and the community here and that's really not fair. As far as the point of the thread, I honestly was trying to figure out if there's any interest in doing some more complicated activities and right now, there really doesn't seem to be. And you know what, that's fine. You can't fit a square peg in a round hole.
So for now, trying to organize real-time events related to various games just doesn't seem a smart move. I know you've mentioned the IRC kombat and honestly, if I enjoyed that more I'd be more into it. This community seems to enjoy thread games, and creative writing competitions so that's a good place to start.
Also, I hear you on the "just do it" mentality so for now, I'll put the whole "state of the community " thing to bed.
