For me the only creepy part was the scene where the dude gets his eyes gouged out.

Event Horizon had the potential to be really scary, but the story decended into something else that raised questions that weren't entirely answered. I will say that it was freaky as hell!

Eh! That scene was tame compared to the guy hanging from his intestines. I was like, "DAMN! He got messed up really bad." Or.... is there a Director's Cut version that you've seen that shows more?

That's it, I'm never going to the bathroom during a movie ever again! Now I gotta go out and rent it just to see that.

krsx66 Wrote: That movie could have been so much better. Since it is implied that the event horizon went to a kind of 'hell' it could have been MUCH scarier. I did like the scene where they filtered the former crew's log, and they were all fuc*ed up and mutilating each other / themselves. But Lawerence Fishburn went with the Jurrasic Park guy back to that universe / hell at the end. I would have loved to have seen more of wherever they went. |
The Flaw of Event Horizon
Since it is said that the Event Horizon had gone to hell, there was not a mention of how this was since, a quantum singularity (in theory) leads to where space and time can no longer be measured, Yet, this is a theoretical assertion that employed the concept of hell. That grabbed my attention, but it wasn'r fully explained and all that was happening throughout the ship didn't reflect it.
Not only does it tread on quantium dynamics, it incoorperates hell as an story component, yet it was saf far into the movie when it came out, there wasn't enought time for it to come to pass for the audience to digest.
Another problem is how past traumatic events haunted most of the crew. Okay, interesting, but it didn't have anything to do with the 'Hell' theory. There was an inference of guilt in Fishburne's character, but it was scant.
LoganMK Wrote: heh heh no way, I saw enough sick crap for me. You know quite frankly I don't know how that movie didn't get an NC-17 rating Dang someone posted before this, I meant Event Horizon |
A lot of scenes probably were cut to give it an R Rating. Does someone have it on DVD or is there a Director's Cut?

Yeah, they should have scrapped the whole 'it knows your secrets' idea, and put their full effort into explaining about how the ship went to hell. That was by far the best part of the movie and was, as you said, hardly explained in the way it should have been. That factor (about the Event Horizon going to hell) was very interesting to me, and I was disappointed that it was not explored in further detail. The possibilities were endless...

My sister has it on DVD, but I dont remember a guy hanging from his intestines. Unless that was in the 'filtered crew log scene' I dont remember it, so there may be a director's cut. Can someone tell me what scene that was?

Its been a while, but I can try. It was the ugly European guy and it was in the infirmiry. If I'm correct I think he was trying to work on "baby bear" after he put himself in space without a suit.
ghostdragon Wrote: The first Nightmare on Elm Street and Hellraiser. GD |
yeah hellraiser is..... disturbing
my brother saw ringu 2 (japanese movie that inspired the ring) and he was scared. so I watched the ring and I think its more thriller with a horror sauce but you will sleep at night. the only thing that scared the shit outta me is when my friend got to the toilet and he paused just at the time they were showing the girl in the door and I was straing at that for a while like whoah.... and after five minutes the dvd player of my friend (fiouh! I didn't rent it in tape) skips one screen so when you see the head move and its still on pause....
The one that scared the hell out of me most is freddy. I was like five and someone I now hate was baysitting me. I absolutely wanted to watch a movie but she was saying that the movie was not for me. I insisted so much she had no options but to let me see it. the first scene was enough to freak the hell out of me (I was five so... I was really freaked out)and have me be alone in a ball for the rest of the movie. After that, I did the most brutal dreams I never did in my whole life. I always did the same same dream. I woke up the hall door would slam (I am in my room freaked out) I hear someone runnning up the stairs at an unconceavable speed and than open door slowly and jump on me and kill me. I did the same dream over and over again and when I would woke up I was also freaked cause I would wake up in my bed the same way I did in my dreams. I remember one night fredy was gone and I rushed to see my mom she turned around slowly to reveal my father killed and her... freddy. I went to see a psychologist and he had me colouring what I saw in my dreams. You can imagine te reaction of my mom when she knew her boy was dreaming of somebody with a chainsaw killing him ( the weapon changed from dream to dream). That is why I hat that babysitter for having me watch freddy at five.
