Whose your favorite comic book characters?? Whether it be a DC, Marvel, etc, etc, and why?
Mine?
Well on the Heroes side....:
Marvel: The Hulk - I've always been a Hulk fan ever since i was a child, just having all that massive POWER, knowing that the only things that can stop you is your girlfriend or REALLY REALLY REALLY Over-The-Top Military weapons. Hulk will always be my favorite :D.
DC: Batman - WHAT????? If you are a genius, Billionare, Fluent in multiple martial arts, and actually being feared by SUPERMAN?????? You are actually the MOST BADASS person to ever set foot on the universe. Point. Blank. Period.
And on the villains side....:
Marvel: Deadpool - The dude has a much more superior healing factor than Hulk and Wolverine put together, and on top of that, he is just fucking insane, he's so unpredictable which makes him the best villain in my opinion in marvel....
DC: The Joker - *Looks at my User name* Why so serious? The Joker is seriously the ONLY villain in DC that actually grabs my attention, just like Deadpool, he's insane. but he is one smart-ass motherfucker, he plans out everything he does, and it usually gives Batman a
face, which gives him a Extra-fucking-cool-point lol.
Btw, you dont need to name multiple ones, like i just did.... if you have only one that you like, just post that one characters. :D

Bane - Not only is he a hulking monolith of muscles, he's also extremely smart. That's a badass combination. Can't wait to see him in TDKR. Fuck the Batman and Robin version though.
Mr. Freeze - His story is great. Unlike most villains back stories, Freeze is just a scientist who lost his wife. It's pretty sad and he's just one of those villains who you sympathize. Fuck the Batman and Robin version though.
MODOK - He's a giant head in a floating chair thing.

DC
Batman's an ever-favorite, of course. Azrael (Jean Paul Valley, the second Batman) is also a huge favorite of mine. He was the most badass Batman ever, not afraid to get down and dirty while wearing a badass Bat suit.
The Question (the original, male one) is also a fantastic character and easily one of my favorites.
On the villains side, the Scarecrow and Mad Hatter are my favorites. I like how they don't actually have superhuman powers, they're just mad men with a great story to them.
MARVEL
Cyclops. Nuff f'n said, Wolverine blows.

My favorite comic book character of all time is Spawn. What's cooler than being a dead guy sent from hell with Satanic powers (later godly powers) who uses guns and other weapons to kill his enemies and fights demons sent from hell? Not much.
Second favorite would be Deadpool. I like Deadpool because he reminds me of Spawn. He has a disfigured face (cancer cells whereas Spawn is burnt) and they both have similar looks (red and black) and both use guns, and both have healing powers. Deadpool is kind of like Spawn without a cape, and his sense of humor always makes me laugh in the comic books, especially when he's arguing with his own thoughts like if it's a real person.
Third favorite is Iron Man. I've always been a fan of robotics and cyborgs. Movies like Terminator and Predator are some of my favorite films of all time due to the advanced weaponry and futuristic robotics displayed in them. Those same principles apply to why I like Iron Man so much. His suit is so packed full of weapons and gadgets that it's hard to resist enjoying Iron Man comics.
Fourth favorite is Black Cat. Black Cat became a favorite of mine after picking up an issue of Spider-Man that had her in it. Strong, sexy, and totally kick ass, Black Cat is my favorite female character ever to appear in comic books. She stands toe to toe with the men she encounters, and usually surpasses them in terms of agility and strength. One bad ass chick.
Those round out my favorite characters. Other characters I enjoy include:
Venom
Carnage
Alucard (Hellsing manga)
Ghost Rider
War Machine
Blade
Captain America
Batman (probably the only DC character I like)
Dr Strange
Colossus from the X-Men
For the most part I lean towards the darker characters.

Death. Neil Gaiman's death takes mortal form every year to not to become detached from mortals. Who would have thought that the stereotypical goth chick would turn out to be a sunny, albeit acidous nice person who just happens to be End incarnate? Come to think of it, the whole Sandman mythos.

On the one hand, that's a good point, on the other hand, maybe it's more palatable if the lists are streamlined into summarizing statements like the characters I've seen in movies, the characters I've seen in cartoons, the characters I've seen in memes, or my personal favourite, the characters who represent the most garish rhythms of the nineties. I'm being a little bit cynical about the depth of choices, but I can relate to the difficulty of putting all eggs in a single basket -- and I think it's in inherent to the medium.
Personally, I'm generally a fan of the whole.
There are a lot of characters I like a lot, but my favourite character in comics is the universe itself, and the ability I have to marshall control of time, to come in and out of the fantastic lives of characters and read about their exploits based on mood, interest, or a great story. I think this has ultimately become the forgotten virtue of corporate superhero comics, which are now somewhat hobbled by the popularized misperception that it's somehow difficult to read twenty-two pages of English with pictures if you haven't studied seventy years of history.
Almost all of the characters on everyone's lists have been characters to enjoy extended cycles through comics and other mediums, so it stands to reason that they share some affection for the whole as well, even if it's a bit more selective and less familiar. So, sure, Batman's got a library of great stories and has a lot of dimensions to make him great -- but there's a very natural virtue in spreading the favourites wider, and appreciating how Batman interacts with other.

1) Catwoman
This vampy, whip wielding cat burglar has always, since childhood, been an iconic figure to me. She's a woman who's naughty, impulsive, alluring and intelligent but as the years have gone on she's also developed a conscience and actually helps Batman from time to time. Everything from her sass to her costume just intrigues me, and it's safe to say I love Catwoman. One of the main reasons I play Arkham City is just to jump around Gotham as her.
2) Poison Ivy
She holds no regard for humanity and only cares for the natural world, and it's like the further into this mentality she falls the more plant-like she herself becomes. She's seductive, dangerous, wears some leaves to cover her modesty and treats her minions and foes like toys to toss away. How can you not love that?
3) Batman
The single most badass hero in all of comic book history. There's just no way you can describe how cool this man is, everything from his suit to his gadgets just scream "bad ass motherfucker". And the fact he doesn't need to kill to acchieve his goals make him even cooler.
