Were you anywhere near the MK 2011 forums? Every time any new piece of information was released, it was met with replies about how terrible it is and how bad the MK team is.

I gotta stop you right there... Yes, I was around, and no, that did not happen... at all. It makes me wonder whether you were around.

Everytime a piece of news was released, it received universal critical acclaim on this site. I know that for a fact because I got so sick of hearing about how "perfect" and "awesome" this game was turning out to be that I even made a post about it. And whenever I stated my honest opinion about something I thought looked shitty, everyone acted like "WTF! What's wrong with you?" I was one of the few people on here going against the flow.

Anyway, that doesn't change the fact that what makes "X-Men" a top dog in the comics and on TV can't or shouldn't be used to make a record-breaking movie. This below-half-a-billion crap is a disgrace and embarrassment to the title and its legion of fans.

Most are appalled by how unfaithful the films are to the comics.

Given the many different series that exist within the X-Men franchise, I am surprised that anyone would make such a fuss about the films' supposed lack of accuracy.

The only real error was with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, as despite the many variations of X-Men, the continuity of the characters' biographies and personal development always remained (excluding alternate universes).

Uh not sure what you're talking about there... The movies are so different I don't know where to start.

But to be clear I do love X-Men 1 and X-Men 2. Like I said before, a comic book movie doesn't have to be faithful to be good.

Age of X

Age of Apocalypse

Ultimate Comics: X

Mutant X

X-Men 2099

Days of Future Past

Ultimate X-Men

All of these are X-Men comic series, and they each follow an alternate storyline, the latter being the root of today's biggest X-Men comic empire.

You rant about how the film series doesn't cater to the comics, while your comics don't even cater to themselves. Ironically, that's what separates X-Men from everything else. It's many variations. It's many universes. It's many stories.

If you truly find the film series to be distasteful, you are not a true fan, for you denounce what makes X-Men so unique.

As is X-Men: 1602, which complete differs from all other X-Men series (Hell, Phoenix is disguised as a guy in this one).

The films are not as different as you and QueenSindel make them out to be.

Actually, I think Phoenix 1602 was just pretending to be a guy, but I could be wrong.

You may be right about that.

I'll edit my post. Thanks.

No problem, I only knew that because I just happened to read Marvel 1602 sometime in the last year at the library, lol.

Oh that's the dumbest post I've read all day. Alternate timelines are not alternate universes. Days of Future Past, for example, had everything to do with the main/present X-Men. It's still a part of the main series. I've got a hunch you already knew that...

Ultimate X-Men, however, is a different ballgame, completely unrelated to the main series, and the X-films were not based on that, were they?

Despite the various changes the team might undergo (costumes, team members, enemies, locations, etc.) the iconic image of the X-Men has remained largely the same since it blew up across other media in the 90's.
So making an X-Men movie about "whatever the hell you want" (as you imply), especially if it discards key points that have kept the series popular, is not a smart idea.

They should be the biggest-selling Marvel movie series, and they're far from. They beat every other title in the comics and on TV, so why haven't they pulled that off in the film industry as well? Because obviously someone is doing something wrong.

You act as if the films have no ties to the comics whatsoever, which they do, greatly.

In fact, X-Men: The Last is based around the series Gifted, which comes from the Astonishing X-Men storyline, one of the storylines you claim the films have no connection to.

I'm starting to wonder just how big of a fan you really are, and furthermore, how much you actually know about X-Men.

And just for the record, I never implied that the films are based on whatever the hell [they] wanted. I stated the film series has its own alternate storyline.

You really need to stop dreading over what isn't, and embrace what is. The films are great and you know it. You're just bent up because they don't mirror the original comics.

Newflash, QueenSindel: No adaption will ever mirror the original.

I'll still see it, the X-fan in me must. But I think this series needs a complete reboot rather than a prequel. I want to see Rogue actually fight SOMETHING!! EDIT: and when I say something, I mean another mutant. lord knows her worst enemies in the movie series are seatbelts. She just can't work them!

I'm upset that Jean isn't a main character but I'll probably go see anyway. I'm enjoy the X-Men movies. X2 is my favorite.

Or bring in Psylocke in a good way for once. I hope they don't mess up Mystique, because RRS did a decent job so far.

I was kind of finished with the X-Men movies after the third one. Origins did nothing to peak my interest.
