Although I believe censoreship is usually a load of bullshit, entertainment media needs to maintain some values and limit the amounts of sex and violence. Sex/violence on television is just a gimick, anyway. I don't need high budget explosions or over-paid eye candy to enjoy what should be a fucking sitcom in the first place.

But with video games and movies, it's a different story. Instead of bitching and fighting over game content, perhaps parents should just do there job and know what their kids are playing/watching. It's pathetic that mothers want their kids to be exposed to clean entertainment, yet it's of lesser priority to actually spend time with them.

IMO, the media is the biased, corrupt, and blatantly immoral. Yet it's raising our fucking children.

I based my final paper for English Comp II last semester on censorship in music, and it's always a topic I like talking about. Unfotunatly it's like 4:00am here, so I may not be at the top of my game, but here are my views:

As it partains to radio and television I have always been a fan of the idea of allowing uncersored material after a certain time (midnight-6:00am roughly). By that time the only people that should still be up are people who by now should be able to handle foul language, sex, drug use, and graphic violence. But I still stand firmly against the banning of "lurid" music in stores. It's hard enough for a musician to make a buck these days, and to ban their record from a store over the use of words like "fuck & shit" is just messed up. Same goes for other forms of art, or what is loosely considered art these days.


Back in high school I was completly against censorship, but over the years I have come to the realization that it is needed. These days we live in a world where everything in the world is a click away, and young kids growing up do get bombarded with way to much. They don't learn early on the reason why some things are morally wrong, and they grow up reacting to what the've been exposed to. I can't speak for the rest of you, but I am sick of 12-16-year-old kids who who think they are all hard, and what's worse is they get away with it because they are protected by shit like DYFUS (or however you spell out that acronym). So what we are left with is limited parenting for kids who grew up thinking it's cool to not give a shit, and this is where censorship helps. It creates a buffer zone that works, but it does have it's setback.

Lately censorship is out of hand, and all because of a two second boob shot on a cold day in January. Everyone has been walking on egg shells so not to anger the FCC, who have already gone on a rampage trying to take down anything and everything "they" deem offensive. And THAT is my main problem with censorship. A room full of people is not enough to a range to label what is offensive, and what isn't. Everyone has their own scale, and it changes from person to person. And this won't change, because no one is able to come up with a better idea.

I apologize from bouncing from one idea to another. Once again, I'm probably off my game because it's late and I'm tired, I'll give this a once over tomorrow when I'm 100%.
