I figured with the game coming out in a few weeks, and the demo being released recently some of you are probably going to start talking about the game. So I figured I'd create an official thread now for it. So feel free to talk about anything about the game.

To tell you the truth I was really skeptical when I first heard about this game. Usually because these types of games based on comic book never really turn out very good. But after playing the demo last night, I'm extremely impressed with the game. It's a definite buy IMO. I actually think it's going to be the best comic book based game ever! Even better than Neversoft's Spiderman game.

For those that don't know the game is running on the Unreal engine, and let me say the graphics for 1 look pretty incredible. There's a trophy area that has figurines of characters from the Batman Universe that can be unlocked in the full game, the demo has Batman, and Killer Croc already unlocked. What really does the game for me though, is the game mechanics, and how fluid the animation is. I'm actually blown away by how fluid the animations are for a comic book based game. If you take down an enemy just as another 1 of attacking, a quick button press causes batman to go into another takedown right from the downed position, and it just looks so fluid and natural the way he does it.

There's also stealth mechanics, where to can slink around a room by the ceiling and pick off enemies 1 by 1. It's really cool how batman just drops right down grabs the enemy, and pulls him back up. As the number of enemies in the room start to dwindle down the remain enemies start to get even more scared. You can bring up detective mode, which acts like x-ray vision, to point out hidden spots, interactive object, and give you enemy statuses, and their state of mind. They'll start to act more eradicable, and blindly shooting at object, and the ceiling because their so spooked.

I think the game does an impressive job of capturing Batman, and the controls seem really intuitive. Unlike a lot of games. The game seems to easy to control than games like Splinter Cell, and Assassin's Creed.

When you play demo, one thing come to mind. "I'm Batman".

I love stealth in this game (I hate stealth) and how enemy react to stuff.

If this game gets great reviews then I'm going get Collector's Edition because I really wanted the Batarang

I really like what their doing with the character designs, and the new takes their putting on some of the characters (Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, and bane), I'm just curious what other villains are going to be in game. I think so far that's confirmed are Joker, Harley Quinn, Bane, Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, and Zsasz. I'm really hoping Mr. Freeze, and Two Face are in to see Eidos take on the characters.

wow i really like the demo and so glad i downloaded it.I was still not sure how this was gonna turn out and the demo doesnt really mean the full game is gonna be great. But if this demo is anything like the full game im going to be happy.Only thing i didnt like to much was the graphics.I kinda feel they could still be better and were kinda blah at some spots, hopefully this gets touched up before its released or a patch.Im still not getting the collectors edition,I don't have that kind of money to blow anymore on a game. One thing I got from playing the demo was thinking, you know, this story seems like it would have made a great movie.I guess instead of getting madden2010 I am gonna get this instead.

Same here. As much as I would like to get it, the only worth while thing in the collector's edition is the life size batarang. I don't see myself playing the MP all that much so the MP maps aren't a big deal to me, and from the sound of it it sounds like there only giving you 1 of the maps packs, so there will be multiple map packs anyway to choose from. Kind of like how Street Fighter 4 did it with only giving you 1 of the costume packs.

I like the Batman games quite a bit. Batman Begins by EA was great and Now this one. I will be buying this. I have been anticipated for quite awhile. And with great games like Hitman and Kane & Lynch. I was not skeptical or worried Eidos would screw it up.

Rocksteady studios made the game (they created Urban Chaos: Riot Response. Eidos is only publishing the game.

We're getting collectors edition for £60 in uk. Game costs £40 and item like batarang would normaly cost £20 so in uk we're are getting a good deal.

I hated the demo. The game felt way too blocky for me. And why do we need a special thread for this? I don't think that many people are excited about it.

Speaking of awesome crossovers....

Superman Ball Z! Super Krypton! nya nya nya

I'm downloading the demo as we speak. I'm a huge fan of Batman, and this game has been described as a 'gift' to all the Batman fans. Sounds awesome

Love the final room in the demo where you're in the open area facing several guards.

I always love taking them all out except for the last one, then just toying with him. Swooping down, kicking him over, then grappling back up before he knows what hit him, then hearing his "freak out" reactions is awesome.

It's also fun to lead him on with batarang tosses right next to him.

Ah yes, Arkham Asylum. One of my most waited games for the past 2 years. I remember reading about it when it was first announced in Game Informer.

I already have it preordered regardless of playing the demo. I downloaded it and have only played it twice by now, only because I don't have enough time to play it. The game is very detailed, there is a lot to do, the gameplay is stealth + action, both of which are my favorite genres, and best of all you are the detective Batman. Not the corny ass Bale who ruins his image.

Unfortunately there is no blood, at least from what I can tell from the demo, but the game stays true to letting Batman only knocking his enemies unconcious, and not killing them.

The last room is alot of fun. I tried to go under the glass doors and when one of the goons walked by, I got out behind him and knocked him out. Sweet.

I love this game and can't wait for it. Will be on my top games list of all times.

This game is awesome, loved the demo and feel that it'll own comic games for a while.

I agree, most comicbook games or comicbook movie/games usually suck or are "average" at best, but Batman AA the gameplay is smooth, storyline is sick and the graphics, voice acting are excellent if I may say.

Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will really bring this game alive to a level of wow.

Now people should be talking about this game from WB. This game is dark and another reason why I'm glad they got MK.

I'm looking forward to this game, I haven't enjoyed a 3rd person game this much since Psi-Ops. I don't usually play 3rd person games.

You do know his moves, and weapons are up-gradable?! The demo was only a taste of what you can do. Watching the trailer at the end of the demo shows off more of the fighting mechanics which they call dynamic. I noticed how batman punched 1 guy while grabbing his arm then, turns him around and giving him a neck breaker which looked like it be a second move command all together.

Originally, when the game was first announced, I was a skeptic. Comic games usually suck, the team behind the mediocre Urban Chaos was producing the game, etc. Then screen shots leaked out and the game looked amazing. Then videos, and previews became available and I started to get hooked.

The Demo is incredible, and gives you just enough to get you hooked. The main portion I was worried about was the one button fighting mechanic, but, with the counters and free flow(reminds me of Shaolin Monks) it's proven to be surprisingly deep. The real fun though, is the silent predator(stealth) part of the game. Taking out a room full of guys one by one is incredibly fun and addictive(happy to hear they've made challenge rooms based around this).

This game truly makes you feel like Batman, and that's perhaps what's so amazing about the whole experience. Throw in the voice actors from the animated t.v. show(win) and what seems to be a fun story, this game will be kick ass.

I traveled out of town and saw a gamestop advertising a midnight release, I'm hoping the gamestops in my area will be doing the same thing(I get off work at midnight anyway, so it works out great for me).

The 25th is right around the corner. I have a feeling I'm going to fully enjoy this game.

It's also if you guys look on xbox, the most downloaded game currently in the top 5 of late. So the hype for this game is definitely there and increasing.

Batman seems to be owning of late and turning heads, Dark Knight, made big news in the comics, appeared in MK vs. DCU and now Batman AA. I heard the 3rd movie is in the works to. Rumors have it Bale will be back, I know he'll be back for T5 and T6 but not sure yet about Batman. I hope soglasses

I had read there might not be a Batman 3, at least with Nolan directing. I was reading that he is still kind of distraught about Ledger's death, and doesn't know what direction to go with the next movie. Apparently he was setting up the Joker to be the main villain in Batman 3.

I had wrote a paragraph about why it shouldn't be a big deal to let someone fill Ledger's shoes, but i'll just let that issue rest.

Instead, a new trailer for Arkham Asylum has surfaced, focusing on the gadgets we'll be using.

Heck, he could make a third Batman, seriously, the only person I would see take Heath's role is Johnny Depp. Fuck, that man can do anything and is one of the few beleivable actors than can play "fuck up" without doing too much.

The first review is in for the game. Game Informer has given it a 9.5! I found a link to a scan of the review on another forum.
[edit]: I also came across a cast listing of the voice actors for the game, and which characters they voice. Apparently in addition to the villains that are already known the only other villain I noticed making an appearance is the Riddler (weather he's actually in the game, or if it's just a voice over is unknown). But Two Face, and Mr. Freeze aren't listed.
[update]: After reading the review it seems like Game Informer's reason for giving the game a 9.5 instead of a 10 is that they say the final boss battle is a major letdown, and a good idea gone to waste. But they went on to say that Batman: AA is this years Bioshock.
