Speak for yourself, I consider it one of the best by far, and it established major characters and events that hold up to this day.

Point is, super heroes don't need their arch nemesis in every incarnation.

As far as the Joker in this game, I too think he has no place here. He's a psychotic murderer who will stab, shoot and explode whoever he feels like, but he's not a fighter. His mind is his weapon more than anything, and this is a fighting game, not chess. I think it's silly enough for Harley Quinn to fight, but at least she was always kind of established as a martial artist/gymnast.

It doesn't mean Joker shouldn't be in the game, I just wouldn't have made him a playable character. I would make him one of the launching points of the story, showing his death at Superman's hands in the opening sequence of the story mode, and that's it. Harley's out for revenge and trains harder than ever, and Joker becomes a historic symbol and crucial element of the game's story - without being a fighter.

I accepted the fact that he would probably be in this game, but they should have used him as DLC instead of the initial roster. You're right, though, the Joker is not a fighter and really shouldn't be in this game.

And it wasn't just the boxing glove move that I didn't like about the Joker in MKvsDC. I just thought he was overall a bad fighter. It's as if they embraced the fact that the Joker is not a fighter, but decided to put him in anyway and just gave him combos you can laugh at.

In the comics joker's hand to hand skills depended on the writer of the comic. sometimes it takes one punch and other times he could hold his own against Batman. He is descibed by DC to be an average fighter, but is able to withstand punishiment because of his mental state and is known to be very agile to compensate this. He seems like a dirty fighter and is probably one of the versions of the joker that can fight. That could be one of the reasons they added him. .

I'm not sure what stories you've read, but I have never seen Joker hold his own against Batman.
Unless he's already been stabbed in the arm after narrowly escaping an explosion while breathing gas and psychologically affected by the death of friends, all the while fighting off thugs and dogs and THEN attacked from behind by the Joker.

That is exaclty how he holds his own. He is a dirty fighter and will cheat to gain the upper hand, but Batman always beats him in the end.

....right. I know. That's the point, this is a 1 on 1 fighting game, not a situation where the Joker can stab Batman in the back while he's busy defusing a bomb.
Lets not even get into the Joker vs. Superman conversation.

The enviroment attacks in the game are kind of what the joker uses to cheat or gain an advantage against an opponent. Seems like this game is in his ball park., But one on one, I agree he doesn't fair well.

While I'm not a huge Joker fan I'm sure he'l make a decent edition to the roster.

His unpredictability makes him a good fighter, I think him and Havik would be good friends if they ever met.

Except it's totally not. Because in a game where Joker can throw people into the scenery, they can do the same to him. And being someone who's not close to peak physical condition, being tossed against the penny in the Batcave by Superman would probably break every bone in his body. He just has no place in this game, no matter how you try and justify it,

Again the jokers fighting skill depends on the artist or writer of the story. Since he has been included I surmise that this joker is one that can fight, but then again who knows what choice the writers picked on whether he is a fighter in this or not. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how they explain everything in story mode, especially with the joker being a big player in it as revealed by Hector.

I wouldn't say that. Right now he is arguably the third most popular character in comics behind Batman and Superman. You have to have him in, even if it doesn't make sense

Exactly. That's why they put Freddy Krueger in MK9, because he's popular. I think I even read somewhere that, out of all the DLC for MK, Freddy's was the one that sold the most. So yeah, if they have to choose between a character that 'makes sense' and a character that's popular (and more than likely increases sales), they're going with the popular one.

Although I'm not sure if there's anyone who's going to buy this game just for Joker alone.

But let's be fair. Joker is so iconic within the DC Universe, it would make less sense if he wasn't in the game. wink

IMO, Joker's like Magneto to the X-men; same with Lex Luthor's like Dr. Doom, without either it's practically naked. That's just how I see it, I LOVED his gameplay in MKvsDCU and pray he gets his punching glove move back along with some jumping teeth/acid flower.

The joker is nowhere near like Magneto in any sense, neither storywise or aesthetics.

Magneto is a villain by perception to both characters and readers alike. Joker has always been written as an embodiment of evil and will always be a villain.

Magneto represents the tails end to a coin. He is the other side of the mutant struggle. His purpose isn't to be hated or feared, like the Joker, but acknowledged as a leader who chose his own path for the same cause, much like Malcolm X during the Civil Rights Movement, and he too was viewed by some as a villain.

Even in terms of position in series can the two not be compared. Magneto is an icon of Marvel villainy and has a cult following for his heroism. The Joker, no matter how popular, is still just another Batman villain.

Joker vs Superman is no less rediculous than Superman vs Batman, Green Arrow, Nightwing, Catwoman, Harley Quinn and I'm sure many characters yet to be revealed.

This Issue comes up in pretty much every fighting game ever, people should get over it.

It's a video game. That is why Joker could fight anyone in this game.

That said, I was really hoping they wouldn't use Joker, but oh well. I am pretty excited for Green Arrow and Green Lantern though. Can't wait to see what GL can do.

You mean "no more ridiculous", but you're wrong. Joker fighting Superman is definitely more ridiculous than Batman fighting Superman.

Iconic, just like classic, doesn't mean it is good though. ;)
