I just noticed something, i don't think that Lana is possessed anymore with her evil ancestor Margaret Thoroxe because if you watch carefully the last episode in season 4(the last episode before nexts weeks premiere) the tattoo disappeared right after she killed Jennaveve(Jason's mom)

So, i'm guessing thats what that means, we will see if i'm right or not.

Hard to say, maybe both are infected with something?!

Yeah, i'm wondering, because why would lex punch clark, in other previews you see them talking like they normally do, or lex might be pissed at clark for holding out on his knowledge of the caves or because Lana pretty much rejected Lex last season and looks like she will go back to clark for the time being.

Heres a description of the Season Premiere form the WB's website:
"Having been transported to the Fortress of Solitude, Clark (Tom Welling) is confronted by Jor-El, who tells him he cannot return to Smallville, instead he must stay and prepare to save the planet. Also, transported to the Fortress, Chloe (Allison Mack) is unable to handle the sub-zero temperature and collapses, begging Clark to use his powers to save her. Jor-El forbids him to leave, but finally acquiesces, telling Clark he must return before sunset or there will be dire consequences. Meanwhile, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) is horrified when she sees two Kryptonian aliens emerge from a spaceship discovered in the remnants of the meteor shower. The two aliens destroy what's left of the town searching for Kal-El. "

As for the two aliens from Krypton, one is Brainiac, but I wonder who/what the other will be. Any connection to the Kryptonians from the movie?

Fucking awsome episode. Klark won't go the whole season without his power, he'll get them back in a few weeks.

Did anyone else recognize the theme music from the old movies poping up during the episode ? Fucking loved that. One of the best things about Smallville is how they throw knocks, and sublte jokes relating to Superman into it.

Can somebody give me a brief description of what happened in the first episode of this new season. I was watching it, but I was switching between that and Survivor.

Yeah abviously Clark find the Fortress of Solitude. After he threw the dimonds shapes stone it flew to the location fo the fortress of Solitude and had it rise up out of the ground. After he entered Jor-El told him that he must prepare to save earth, and that he needs to arm himself with the knowledge of their planet/universe. Cloe also got transported to Antartica and once she got into the fortress of Solitune the cold over came her and colapsed. Clark was trapped in some kind of chamber studying and couldn't really see her, but eventually lost concentraition after hearing Cloe call him. Clark wanted to take to get help, but Jor-El didn't want to let him, told him abiut his weakness because of huiman emotion. But eventually gave in and said Clark could, but he had to be back before the Yellow sun set or there would be dire consiquences.

After rushing Cloe to a haspital they kind of talk about about how long Cloe's known about his power, and what not. On the tv in Cloe's hospital room is the news about what happened in Smallville, and Klark sees his house on tv, and him and Cloe relize he need to go back to help Smallville.

The spachship that was in the crater was carrying Kryptonians who where Deciples of Zod who where looking for Kal-El. The have the same powers as him. Pretty much tore up the place. Nearly killed Lana. Beat up Lex at the caves and took the octagnol key to Clarks ship. Lex runs into Lana, and while he's trying to calm her down she passes out. She reawakens at the Luthor mansion whith Lynal who is scratching something on the floor. As Lana comes down from the loft she was in she finds that Lynal is blind, and he's talking about about the Decip;es of Zod. He he says that their weakness is their planet, while they both relize that Lex has a ton of Kryptone artifacts in his vault.

The 2 Desciples nearly tear up the hospital where Martha, Jonathan, and Lois are, and where nearrly going to kill both Jonathan, and lois until Lana shows up and says she knows where to find Kal-El at the mansion. After they leave Klark finds his way there after checking his house and runing into Lex there where they get into an argument about where Clark was and that lex thought he saw Clark in the caves during the flash of light that transported him and Cloe to antartica. Lex also says he can't find Cloe.

Back at the mansion Lana tries to lure the the Desciples into the vault, but when they relize it's a trap they grab the door and seal it back up. There going to kill Lana for tricking them and throw her against the wall knocking her uncontious. Just before there going to finish her off Klark shows up and stops them. They where looking for him to help them take over the planet so that they can start a new Utopia of Krypton. Clark desclines and says it's not a Utopia if they're killing people. They say that a few people are worth the sacrifice. So Clark says he'll be the sacrifice, because he won't let them take over the planet, and hurt more people. So one of them thows some kind of Kryptonian Ring hehind Clark which opens to some kind of wormhole that tries to suck him in. They say there going to inprison him sommewhere where he can't stop them. After they turn to walk away Clark pulls himself out from being sucking in at pushed both of the Desiples into the wormhole. It them closes up into some kind of prisom cell whith both of the Desciples locked in it, and flies out the window, which reveals a setting yellow sun. Clark is about to rush off back to the Fortress of Solitude, but relizes Lana, and that she need help so he helps her as the sun sets, and he gets a cut in his finger, signaling that Jor-El took his powers. Clark grabs the octagnal key to his ship that is on Lex's desk, and help Lana to the hospital.

Some cheesy scenes whith Clark and Lana at the Hospital, and him at home explaining to his parets about Jor-El taking his powers. It then goes to Cloe's hospital room in antartica where someone walks over her, as she calls out Clark's name, but when she open her eyes relizes it's Lex. Lex askes her why she would think he is Clark, and why Clark would be out there in Antartica with her. She says she must have been dreaming. Lex gets pissed look in his face (the same one he got when he found Cloe in the vault during last season's finale), and Cloe asks what Lex is doing there, and he says to take her home.

Clark goes up the the crator site , and finds it empty. It then goes to a longs underground hallway at the luthor corp plant with 2 gaurds gaurding a room with the spaceship. Some kind of Black oil leaks off of the spaceship, and starts taking shape, kind of like the Fortress odf Solitune, but with Back crystals. They form into the Actor Spike form Buffy & Angel, and then goes to the end credits.

[edit]: After searching for info on Zod since the name sounded so familar {General Zod from Superman II} I came across the image gallery at IGN which has some images form the Superman Returns film, which can be seen here: Superman Return Pics. It includes some images of the actor with the actual Superman suit on, and and a pic of Kevin Spacy as Lex Luthor (which looks pretty kick ass).

I just came across the site http://kryptonsite.com/ which has a bunch of info on the show, movie, and rumors for the upcomming season of Smallville. Including rundowns od the upcomming episodes. Given they wheren't 100% correct on the season premiere episode, they had the principle idea for the most part down. After reading what they have listed as rummors for upcomming episodes the trailer that was shown aff at the end of tonights episode makes a lot more sense. It wasn't take from just the next episode, but the next few epidoses.
Here are some spoilers which are listed over at Krytonsite.com which I feel still stack up in the upcoming season of Smallville, and are pretty legitamit rumors:

Yeah, I noticed that! Loved it! I noticed to that they did that allot last Season and even when Clark met Dr. Swan, and the former Lois Lane. Allot of subtlety in Smallville. That adds to the appeal of the show.

Now for the real Smallville fans, yes i loved the first show of this year, one of the best first season starters in Smallville so far.

You know clark can't lose his powers for very long, give it a few shows then he has to get them back somehow.

Clowe finally came clean with clark as i new she would, that was interesting, did you see her face when he told her he's from another planet lol.

Also, whats up with Lionel, he's got the whole Scorpion look about him lol, and i'm guessing thats Brainiac that emerges Noob-Saibot style at the end of the show.

Also, MKGeek, they did make one reference to Superman in last season at least, the first episode called "Crusade" when clark was Kal-El, when he flew towards lex's plane, you hear the pilot say what is that, "is it a bird, mabey a plane" hehehe, if you bought it on DVD season 4, watch it man, you will find what i'm talking about for sure man.

Anyway Season 5 is looking to be one of the best so far, also did any of you watch the preview for next week??Looks awesome, you see Braniac talking to lex and clark and lex fighting in the mansion along with Lana and clark about to make their own Rated R film lol.
