How the heck do you figure it makes any sense? I mean, like ya said, it's parts of HIS home world! Now, I could see that maybe it would make more sense to have meteor rocks that are radioactive, but not part of his planet, have some negative affect on him, but his own home world? It's retarded at best.

Makes me curious, they never explained Superman's absense in it's entirety in "Superman Returns" so, it makes me wonder if it'll play out in the next movie? What/Who, if anything, did he find when he went out into space, why did he take so long to return?

Well, they never really did go into the "how long did it take" Superman to reach earth. So, figure about 5 years space travel time at a somewhat decent speed I guess.

But anyway, well the reason it makes sense to me is because it's PART of his homeworld. Think of it as this, say you're shipped to a more primative planet compared to earth. You're stronger, have no weaknesses however you encounter fire or ice from earth which say doesn't exist on this planet you're on but that ovbviously WILL and can hurt you since it does. Or even a radioactive rock from earth, absolutely harmless to this other race of the planet you're on but it can HURT you since it would as if you were on earth.Same case with Superman and kryptonite. On Krypton they have no powers because of the red sun, no yellow sun.

Kryptonite is indeed apart of his homeworld, but it's not like it's a piece of glass from krypton, it's indeed a radioactive rock man therefore it hurts Superman/Clark/Kal-El

5 years?! What about the whole "faster than..." crap? Why the hell would it still take him so long? See, this is what I hate the Superman mythology! About all of it makes little or no sense to me what so ever! Even with the movies and Smallville! The whole Kryptonite thing will always be retarded to me, if you are suppossed to be all powerful/indistuctible and whatever, why give him such a stupid weakness? It's like if the Hulk, which was made by radiation, was all of a sudden weakened by it! I don't know, I guess I just prefer to have my super heroes weakness free, cause ain't that what makes them "Super" to begin with? My question is this, if Kryptonite wasn't made radioactive as a result of coming to Earth, then would it still harm him, and why does it bother him really bad sometimes, yet, in Superman Returns, hardly affected him? Too many questions, not enough answers! Guess I'd better hunt down some comics! wink confused tongue wink smile glasses

Well, every hero has a weakness, if they didn't it would be kind of lame don't you think?

Hell, most people that hate supes hate him because they feel he's "godly" like and TOO powerful therefore we have kryptonite.

I don't think it's dumb, I mean so what if it's a rock. I thought it was retarded when Magneto wears this metal helmet and a little piece of metal protects him from Pro X's insanely powerful telepathy? right.... lol

At least with supes, the rock IS radioactive. I don't think if it were not it would hurt him but it is radioactive which they clearly state in the superman mythology a million times over the years.

Now, in Superman Returns, I wouldn't exactly say it hardly effected him.

I mean it didn't effect him the same way it does in Smallville, but you have to remember he's still young and not quite as powerful as he is once he's fully superman, he's still more of superboy then superman. Hell he hasn't even learned to fly yet in smallville, yet supergirl WILL fly yet she's younger.

Anyway, he only almost died after tossing lex's kryptonite island into space if you don't remember lol...I'd say that effected him. Put him in a coma for a few days before he recovered.

Still, regardless of who thinks his weakness is lame or not he's still the best and #1 comic book icon in the history of comics!grin

Ehh, pfftt the Avengers would get raped by the JLA in the end ha, ha, ha

They actually did that match up online sometime along the line, JL won.

Marvel does have some interesting guys, but personally Supes alone could take out most of them lol and that's not even the whole JL.

I do like Spider-man, wolvy and some of the X-Men everyone else is kind of lame to me....I'm an oldschool, classic guy DC forever!smile

Well, whatever would happen, you know that whoever would draw such a comic/story, couldn't be biased towards one brand over the other, like you and I are, so we could never do a "Marvel/DC War Story", but I think in the end, there would be alot of casulties on both sides, cause you've got to factor in that one side would know some of the strengths and weaknesses of their opponents, to use against them.

Yeah, that's true. I know they did that idea while ago this idea and JL won but I do know/remember that there were a lot of fatalities on both sides.

There's also other factors like different teams, there's a few different Avenger Groups however the JL has TONS of different groups lol.

From the classic 7 JL to JLA to JLU and JSA etc...

I'm sure you know this that's why I'm breaking them down lol. Every JL though obviously has Supes and Bats.

Hey you know the other day I saw a comic of Superman/Batman vs. Alien/Predator swear to god lol.

Those were a great read, thanks for sharing!

Any way, MKFLegend, did you read in the Smallville Magazine with Jimmy and Chloe on the cover, the article mentioning that the guy who played Green Arrow, likely won't be back to Smallville, cause he's getting his own new CW pilot, and it's not anything to do with Smallville? Just thought I'd pass it along, only reeason I got the mag was for the articles on the WWE guest-stars on Smallville last season.

I read differently though. You see his CW pilot never worked out with Aquaman, and in TV guide it said that the producers of Smallville said to expect the same actors back to play their parts in season 7 sometimes with the JL, though this time they will come back separately to help clark and vice versa.

Expect to see Martian Manhunter back also.

I've read every smallville mag out so far, I'll have to recheck that but I know the aquaman pilot was canned by the same actor playing GA a year ago, that's why he got the gig as GA on Smallville.

It mentioned the Aquaman pilot, but I specifically read about another pilot:

"Justin Hartly In New Movie and Series Pilot" from #21

Justin Hartly was unable to return in the Smallville Season Six finale as Greeen Arrow, because early this year he started filming a new series pilot for The CW Network. The Untitled Maggie Friedman project referred to in some places as Spellbound, features Hartly as Danny, the good looking friend of the lead character, who happens to be a life coach. At press time it was unkown if The CW had decided to go forward with this as a series.

So that's what I read, maybe you missed that?! confused Sounds like he might not be back as Green Arrow. BTW, why the hell would he have been in the Aquaman series? He wasn't Aquaman.

Ohh yeah I remember that article now, well honestly I think he'll come back. He made a name for himself on Smallville BIGTIME.

I remember reading about his new movie, but I'm sure he'll be back on Smallville at some point. He'll probably be on the show less but he's a badass Green Arrow, I honestly don't believe they'll go with anyone else or just not bring him back at all if he doens't in fact come back but I think he will down the road again.

Now, for the Aquaman gig, originally back in 2006 prior to his Smallville GA debut he auditioned and played Aquaman for a new CW Aquaman series made by the same guys that do Smallville, Justin Hartley was originally Aquaman, I rememeber reading at the time rumors had it that the guy who played him on Smallville was originally going to play the part, but I guess they didn't want him for the show exclusive for some reason, so they found Hartley. He acted the one pilot episode out and the show turned out to be a bomb(horrible) it canned sadly, so the producers of the show being the same of Smallville got the idea hey. This guy is a good actor, let's put him on Smallville as Green Arrow and the rest is history man.

wink
P.S. Sarah, thanks for the links btw sorry I forgot to address you and show my gratitude earlier.

Ok, that explains the whole Aquaman thing! It's good that he was cast as GA, he made a better GA, than he would've made an Aquaman. As for his return to Smallville, don't get me wrong, I'd like for him to return to, but not many actors go for double time, on two shows.

It's possible though, in two issues before the smallville mag issue we're talking about it was one about the entire JL. They interviewed all of them and the actor that played the Flash said he was doing a few things, immediately after Smallville I think he said on Veronica mars he played a killer and around the same time he came back to Smallville in the Justice episode, he was also doing work for Law and Order.

So it's very possible, hard to do? Yes I'm sure but possible. Green Arrow is awesome.

Oh, I think it's possible to do two shows, just ask Drew Carrey?! grin Question isn't if it's possible, it's if he wants to do two shows.

Well, you know Smallville gives him the green light, why would you pass up on more exposure/money? I'd take it if I were him. Unless one show is in Europe and the other in Mexico, I'd take it.

They film Smallville in Canada but the writing is done in L.A., most if not all the actors are also american. It also depends where he lives also ya know?

So true, and if this "New Project" of his doesn't get off the ground, then he's still got Smallville

Ok, big update according to kypton.com since I linked a rumor to that site from dccomics.com Smallville thread, I checked it out and must say that that site has a lot of stuff on Smallville. Actor Justin Hartlely supposedly will do double work as that site says. Should be interesting.

You should check it out MKgeek.
