Actually, before the reboot, Starfire went to therapy at Donna's request and turned out to be hiding a lot of emotions, she was acting cheerful even though she was really sad and lonely. I got a little teary-eyed reading it lol. Respecting the past and living it are two different things. one more page, and I'll stop posting reference lol. I just love Rocafort's art style, he draws her sooo beautifully

I read that. She was being counseled by Vixen. She never hid her emotions. That whole time leading up to that point she was clearly stressed and hurting, as was most of her team. She just blew up at Vixen with the whole snarky, "I'm royalty! I'm above all this." style that I mentioned she shows to heroes that she's not that close to.

But I definitely saw her struggling with her emotions prior to that. Nothing was hidden.

As for that picture, her words don't seem to reflect her actions... at least from what I've seen. She can say, "yea, these things I keep don't define me and I live in the moment." But what has she done as far as living in the moment besides fucking her two friends?

All I've heard is that she denies her feelings for her partners because she doesn't want to be hurt again and she keeps things from the past to preserve memories. It's not as if she seems stuck in the past, it's just that she doesn't come off in any way as the free spirit that dialogue suggests.

Obviously I can't assess her character properly without having read the books. I can only go by what I've seen/heard. All it really seems to me is that she's just a more emotionally stifled version of her previous self. For me, however, her emotional overdrive personality was one of the main draws for her character.

She was trying to convince her therapist that she was happy and nothing was wrong with her, then ultimately broke down and started crying, revealing that she was in fact not happy. She was hiding her emotions to make everyone else happy.

BUT yes, I think it would be best to judge for yourself and read Redhood. As for Raven, I will start reading Teen Titans again now that she's in it. I could not get interested in that series, I don't know why. hopefully her addition will change that.

No kidding, and then they take him off and put Timothy Green II on the title. As much as I love this book, I don't know how much more of this man's drawings I can take. I mean, just look at this:

From left to right: Rocafort - Timothy Green II - Pascal Alixe (yes, there's someone who does Starfire even more injustice *cough* than Timothy Green II).

I am very hopeful for the new creative team to provide better art than what we're getting now, although I'm afraid it will be very hard to come close to Rocafort. And I'm not just talking about the way he draws Starfire. Just take a look at this.

My boy, she blew a fuckin' hole in the wall of her room and freely admitted she did it because she was angry. She openly told Donna that she was glad Dick left because he didn't love her anymore.

Even in therapy she wasn't hiding anything. She openly admitted, again, during therapy, that she was advised to make up some bogus story to get Vixen off her back, but she chose not to. She talked openly about her confusion regarding her emotions and when the hard questions came up, she screamed that she was royalty and incinerated a decorative plant!

She was invited to join the Justice League and turned it down, once again, openly admitting that she was not in any mental state to be part of a team.

I dunno about you man, but I've had girls clearly portray to me that they were upset in far more subtle ways that blowing up walls in my house.

This is funny. That last shot is totally what she'd look like in Injustice. Why can't NRS make pretty females?

Not hating on the character, I just hate how NetherRealm made her the fucking Ermac of the game. Looks like I'm gonna be turtling and throwing again >_>

We've seen all of 2 minutes of gameplay for her guys. Yes, Raven is telekinetic, like Ermac, so aesthetically, her gameplay may LOOK similar at first glance, but you won't be able to tell until your play her.

There are a millions things that can alter the way characters play which you can't know just by looking at some choreographed gamplay. For all we know, her projectiles have ass recovery and her best options are rushdown teleport mix-ups.

Saying Raven is the "Ermac" of this game is like saying Green Arrow is the "Hawkeye" of Injustice. Yes, they are aesthetically similar, but gameplay goes deeper than visuals.

She looks more like a mix of Ermac and Quan Chi (runes) to me.

The whole "you can't judge it without playing it" does not work on this subject. The hardcore proof is there, clearly.
She can combo into a telekinected pop up into another combo into a telekinected finish, just like Ermac can in Mortal Kombat.

Unless I missed it due to the fast paced fighting, in the video, she hasn't done a telekinected pop up without doing a combo first. And I hope this is the only way.
I would prefer if players have to work for it, instead of trying so hard to start a TK pop-up all damn day throughout the match. It got real frustrating fighting Ermac try-hards.

That's just his combo starter, though. It's not what defined Ermac. What defined him was his safe offensive options, high damage, and his restrictive mobility.

The very fact that Raven has an offensive teleport takes her out of the "Ermac" category.

confused

Why would anyone want to make Ermac worse? If you took away his raw tele-slam, he no longer has a combo-starting whiff punish. That seems incredibly unfair. Ermac has enough problems as is.

No it doesn't. She would be out of the Ermac category if she didn't have TK like pop ups. Now it just sounds like she's an agile Ermac.

Taking it away will not make Ermac worse. Ermac does ridiculous damage as it is if you know what to use, even after his laughable nerfs, I dunno where the "Ermac has enough problems as it is" is coming from. The last thing you want to do anyway is use a special as a combo starter, imo. It would prevent players from spamming such an easy freebie combo and encourage to combo into it instead. I rather get beat by an Ermac player who actually fights me than one who only beaten me because they spam tele-slam into combos.

Out of all the Ermac matches I've been in, no one tries to fight me or combo into it, they just sit there and wait for you to move and go for tele-slams. And there's nothing worse than a turtler Ermac, I really don't want to see a repeat in this game.

If telekinetic moves = Ermac, then sure. She's an Ermac.

WeaponTheory Wrote:

Damage is nothing special. Sindel is ranked in the bottom 12, and her meterless jump-in BnB gives her 42%. Cyrax has a one-meter 100% combo; Smoke has a two-meter 100%. Jax's BnB does less than 20%, and he's a top 12 character.

High-damage combos are only worthwhile if your character can set them up or if the risk/reward is in your favor. In a footsies battle, Ermac has to rely on TKP and jump-in green blasts, but that only works on so many characters (and even when it does work, he can't miss a beat).

WeaponTheory Wrote:

He can't armor out of pressure, he gets pushed into the corner easily, and his damage comes from dangerous 50/50 setups. He's not a BAD character, but I can easily name 15 characters that are far better.

Easy freebie combo? If he guesses wrong and his tele-slam gets blocked, he gets blown up for it.

Turtling is a viable strategy. Why play offense if you're character wasn't built for that style? If your struggling against tele-slam, just block-cancel your dashes to advance and rush him down.

If any move of Ermac's is spammable than it's his tele-push, not tele-slam. Slam is extremely punishable on block and its reach is not impressive at all, so either block and punish hard when up close or hit him with a projectile/teleport/rune/soul-steal or any other distance covering move when out of the reach.

I can't remember ever playing a decent Ermac player that "spammed" his tele-slam.

This thread has derailed so hard.

Tara is Raven's voice actress, but there were alterations. I wonder what she sounded like without the effects.

You guys never played against a rushdown Ermac? THAT shit was scary. Zoning Ermac was so easy to take down in comparison. Anyways, Raven has telekinesis powers too, I don't understand what's the big deal.
