Gods will truly be among us when Captain Marvel joins the confirmed list of characters for the upcoming DC Entertainment fighting game: Injustice!

Apparent confirmation of the power of Shazam comes as DC launch their Injustice Battle Arena promotional website. The online tournament pits the heroes and villains of Injustice against one another in fan voted tournament competition. Resources for the website are reported to have inadvertently revealed Captain Marvel by way for some industrious prodding by eager fans [thanks to C-Sword for posting].

Pictured above; the icon's icon shares much in common with his most recent comic book incarnation, albeit with the busied design twist that is trademark to NetherRealm Studios.

Originally published by Fawcett Comics -- Captain Marvel was once titan enough to topple the mighty Superman, outselling America's original superhero whilst starring in his own live-action serial adventures. Forced out of print by legal jostling; DC licensed the character in 1972, incorporating the power of Shazam into the pantheon of the DC Universe. Equivalent to Superman in many respects; Captain Marvel has at times carried the publishing rivalrly into the books themselves, famously manipulated into being a mortal counter by Batman and Lex Luthor in Kingdom Come.

Captain Marvel makes his fighting game return from NetherRealm's last tryst with superheroes: Mortal Kombat versus DC Universe. What role will Earth's mightiest mortal have to play in a world where our greatest heroes have become our greatest threat? We'll find out soon enough, as the "big red cheese" joins as a cast including; Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow and many more!

The cast continues to grow ahead of the April release! Marvel and his dark predecessor - Black Adam -have been among the leading story mode speculatory picks prompted by magazine previews. Creative Director Ed Boon has sparked debate about Doctor Fate's status within the game [full story]. Mortal Kombat Online also previously reported confirmation of Aquaman. The lightning coming from his chest is pretty cool. I don't care for the other shit. It would be better if he wasn't wearing the hoody. Like, he can still keep it, but just don't wear it.

I'm sorry to all the fans but I strongly dislike it, it just looks so terribly random and as Razor said in the other thread "goofy". Over the top!

This one, Batman and Green Lantern are my least favorite thus far. I don't know about Grundy, I have a feeling I wouldn't like him in anything so that's more of a character than a costume design problem. :shrugs:

Captain Marvel always had this 50's vibe to him. When I first saw him, he reminded me of a malt-shop owner on steroids. The hood kinda sterilizes that element for me (not that I ever minded it).

I see where people are coming from with the armor, but I still love the costume. He's a lock for my top 3 characters to learn.

It's not even 90's contemporary. There aren't enough thigh mounted ammo pouches. It's just a battle armor variant.

I think at this point, the DCnU "unnecessary zigzag lines all over everything" look will become known as its own era of dumb costume design separate from the '90s. Comic readers in the future will look down on the art of the '10s with disdain.

Though it is the fault of the 90's that this aesthetic exists, since Jim Lee's the one who invented that shit.

That said, the sparking gaps in the armor, like I said in the other thread, make Billy look like a robot. I don't dig that.
