The team stated that they started working on this game even around the shipping of MK9. Ed stated more than once that, he would love to see multiple projects being worked on at the same time a strategy that WB's gaming studios such as Monolith are known for.

The game uses a modified MK9's engine, hence the better graphics. As for th new MK, I think that unless Rocksteady comes up with an adventure mk game for next year, NRS would make their next game for next gen.

right, I'd agree that MK10 probably won't be out until next gen, hopefully in 2014 and not 2015. they can clearly use Injustice as a way to test out new ideas for MK10. I would just sincerely hope that at least some kind of new MK title, like an adventure game, could come out in the meantime, and that they're also currently working on MK10 in at least some stage of development. one thing that could provide people with hope is that the new MK movie was supposed to be released in coordination with a new videogame in 2013, although I won't be surprised if that doesn't actually happen.

I would say MK10 will come out late 2014 or early 2015. Either way I think it is going to be on a next gen console. I also noticed that injustice will be for the Wii U. I'm glad nintendo fans aren't getting screwed over this time and maybe MK10 will be out for those consoles.

My real concern is support for MK9. At the very least they should fix the hit boxes, and the input bug.

here is the original LA Times article. both the president of Warner home ent. and the president of New Line stated, according to the article, that they hoped the new movie would be released in conjunction with a new MK game. Kevin Tancharoen has also posted on Twitter on May 29 the hashtag #mortalkombat2013, which would lead me to think the movie is still on schedule for a 2013 release.

Have something against the site covering NRS' games ? The only reason I am giving attention to Injustice is that it is made by NRS.

I think they did it because it's pretty big for NRS to be working on something other than MK. And it also brings more traffic to the site.
