No offense to that website, but i'm pretty sure the art here would blow theirs out of the water. Look at Stryker, it's more making fun of MK then involving it.

This could be very awesome if some of the people on MKO put their art on that.

I think it'd be cool if we did that. I would've participated in that, but I couldn't decide what character I wanted and the remaining characters were claimed.

Hello everyone, i saw that i had some visitors from MKO today and figured out someone would have made a thread about the little project i started

I am the guy who founded game art hq 4 months ago and i am a big MK fan since 1992


Its a very big goal but i try to make my site something like a "overclocked remix" for video game related fan art.

This means video game fan art which is chosen, aka you dont see every crap there..as a example visit the Character gallery of only Mileena http://www.game-art-hq.com/mileena-fanarts/ already to get a glimpse about what the site is about

The site is for everything from MK to fucking Pokemon but since i am myself a fighting game player well..you see there is a focus on those on ga-hq.

I believe around 10-15 MKO members are among the 80 people which heard about the MK Tribute project and claimed a character.

This project was the first big one i ever started, and its main feature is - i think - that it has 80 characters and every one is drawn by a different person.

The Baraka one was drawn by a woman which works for cartoon network btw. I believe she did a great job..while its a unusual Baraka portrait i think we can all agree that there are more than enough serious Baraka fan arts already and half of them showing him in the same boring pose.

Human Cyrax gets drawn by ScorpionBlaze aka Jax007 which many of you know from his MK related fana rt showed here and at other places

Raiden gets drawn by Esau13 which should also ring a bell to fan art friends among you. Shao Kahn got drawn by salvation-series. a friend of mine who is maybe known by some of you for his MKOrigins mk redesign project started years ago http://www.game-art-hq.com/mortal-kombat-origins-series-fanart-gallery/

The Project started on september 12..it was surprising for me as well how big the interest for my project was

As mentioned..its biggest feature is maybe that everyone of the characters gets drawn by a different person..this means we have amateur looking entries but also progessional looking entries like those for Shinnok, Smoke or Bo Rai Cho

I myself still like the damn Nimbus Terrafaux one though..it was quite funny to dig out these characters which were once a april joke or cancelled.

Somewhen next year there will be a second round for this including Aqua and ..of course Pedro....no MK Tribute project would ever be complete without Pedro or?

The MK Tribute Project was just the first big one..this weekend i started a second one in form of a fighting game bosses tribute which includes 35 fighting game bosses and as a little joke the three producers, Ono, Boon and Harada

Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn are among the bosses, both are getting drawn by 2 artists already, but up to 4 artists/fan arts are the goal for this project. everyone from here who wants to participate is welcome so.

This is not a collection, it is a project started 3 weeks ago and with 80 artists involved which claimed and submitted their entries for this project

Nah..the 80 characters are just all the playable ones but there are still over 30 missing from the MK Universe..if not even over 50

At the start i wanted to include really everyone ever mentioned in any MK but i thought its better tos tart with "only" 80

I know MKO since a long time, visited the forum often before a new MK game was released and saw some of the fan arts uploaded here as well.

But what you people here is organisation and a big support with more than one or a few forum threads

The fan art section http://www.mortalkombatonline.com/content/fansub/index.cds at MKO shows a visitor nothing but some dragon logo ratings and names of artists..visitors which arent a part of the community and dont know any of the artists dont know where they can find a scorpion fan art if they are searching one..they have to click trough the names..click on those with the most dragon logos since they hope that means the submissions are very good but they dont see if there are fanfictions, kung laos white bunny friendship`or a scorpion fan art.

MKO isnt the only MK community with a fan art forum section, but the others arent better..you dont have anything sorted anywhere..isntead there are hundreds of forumthreads, often made for just one fan art..for those they are alright i guess but for kommunity projects? ...

With ga-hq i formed a platform which brings artists and their works from multiple communities together, if someone searches for scorpion fan arts..

I could get so many artists together because i made blogposts at deviantart where i am adminsitrating the biggest Mk related group there and also another fighting game related group with over 2000 members..and nearly all of thema re from me personally invited artists in both groups.

aka i spend months of time to build up communities of fans and artists and i used these communities to make the project known to many of them.

The fan art forum here on MKO is nice and everything but for a project of this scale you need a big community including many talented people ..you need someone who is willing to organize it all and able to set up rules and answers any questions of the artists

Last but not least this project might also work as a reference for some of the artists for their portfolio

While i didnt advertise the project a lot beside at deviantart, my own site game-art hq and a bit at trmk and kamidogu (some of the artists participating found out about the project there) the project page gets already over 300 views at a day mostly trough google..each entry profile gets 15-30 views at a day. I bet that will rise up to 50+ views per entry next year so it benefits the artists a bit as well i guess




Emerald will definitive be in the next round of the project..i think it will start in februar or march..1-3 months before "ultimate"MK9 for vita gets released

It will most likely include 80 characters again with a mix of new characters like Emerald, King Gorbak, Pedro etc and other versions of the characters aka old shang tsung as example or MK Shaolin Monks MKA Reptile.

Your lineart is on a good way, but colors wouldnt hurt

Your submissions are scanned or? i would recommend you to use photoshop etc. after scanning to make your pictures sharper and "cleaner" looking for better end results

If you are referring to my artwork, majority of the time I'm taking a picture of them becuase of technical difficulties. Though now that it's finally up and running, I might be submitting a lot more stuff than usual. But due to school, there's not enough time for me to actually get focused on a picture for something as cool as your project.

Though MKRebirth and all that constantly updates their note sections about it so I haven't really missed a beat with it... despite that I'm not submitting a whole lot of stuff on DA anyways.
