Im sure everyone elts gets these feelings. and i for one hate them. when you get angery at your work or seeing the achivments of those around you and not being able to compete or follow at there level of skill. or perhaps you feel like your in a slump and it won't go away no matter what the hell you do. Id like ot hear your feed back if youv experenced any thing like or this at all..

Right now im in a slump and iv restarted several picks serveral times. 5th version of the frost picture anyone. lol. eh, I don't know really how to word it and im looking for a possibly solution to get out of this cursed slump any advice would be welcome.... (mostly rambling)

Blah... This may sound stupid but, I've been trying to draw an Image of Scorpion since MK2 (about when I was the age of 7 or 8). I've still not achieved that goal, but my friend, however has. He's so good, sometimes when I took at his art work compared to mine, I feel so jealous, frustrated and angry at myself. Since I can not compete or catch up to him.

But when it comes to graphic stuff on the computer... hehe, that's a new story. I own him smile.

I've never been mad at other people's works, just my own.
I've restarted many a pic before, my infamous Kenshi pic is just one of those that I've not sorted out and finished yet.
Started to be that way with my MKDA Scorpion pic, but I've overcome the obstacle in that and it's progressing nicely...just not the time to devote to do it that I want, due to work and all.

I know how you feel. I go through that sometimes. Mostly when I'm uninspired. Like right now, there's a flood of lovely art, and I want to contribute, but I haven't felt like drawing much and my RAM is too low to use my scanner. So, yeah, I'll probably have a fair stack by the time my new Comp is in my possesion though.

I've had a recent bout of inspiration.

i admit that when i see unbelievably awesome artwork, i get a bit jealous. but i dont get angry or discouraged or anything. instead i hold it to myself to reach or surpass that level of ability. for me, being in the company of those who are more capable than me at ANYTHING motivates me beyond comparison to just about everything else. i am VERY competitive. i see art in comic books and i work on everything aspect of my work to be able to compare my work to theirs and say, "see, mine is just as good". but like they say, you're your own worst critic. when you make a piece, point out the aspects of it that you would like to improve, and work on them in consecutive works. dont just keep redoing the same thing over and over again. the creative visual mind works like this, if you become too well aquainted with an image, every time you try to create it, no matter how you try to change it, it will turn out pretty much the same. that is why no work can ever be your masterpiece (like i said on a previous post). each piece you do is preperation for the next and at the same time the culmination of everything you've learned on all of your previous works. to get really good, you have to study your own work, and point out what you do wrong. you also should study the works of others as being what you can aspire to and take cues from their works, their techniques for achieving different effects.

dude, relax. all you need to do to be a good driver is be alert and always plan for the worst possible situation. constantly check your mirrors and blind spots, and when you're near anyone else on the road, assume they are the worst driver in the world and that they have no clue that you're near them. alert, defensive driving is the key to avoiding accidents, even those that wouldn't be ruled as being your fault.

I've been in a slump since before MKDA came out. I haven't touched my sketchbook for six months because I've given up trying.
I get jealous that other people can always draw WeTF they want, and no matter how "unhappy" they are with it, however much they don't like it, they always Finish it and show it off, and I've never understood how they could do that.
I hate my drawing style, I hate my inability to draw shit anymore, and I've gotten so fed up with myself I was inches away from setting my sketchbooks on fire. I had to let my friend (who lives an hour away) babysit the POS because I didn't trust myself enough with it, and it's been up there since the end of July.

Fuck. Drawing.

That is exactly how I feel. I haven't drawn anything realor finished anything in forever and a day. But my slump is a culmination of things so I'm working on the overall pie, not just one piece. Ugh, too much, too much, too much...

I could usually get a drawing done in a day, and I'd tweak it and refine it for weeks to come. Then finally I'd scan it into Photoshop where it could take anywhere from a day to three motnhs to get painted. One drawing took a day from drawing to painting.... I was pretty impressed with it, too.

Yeah, usually it doesn't take me very long to finish a piece. Refining, etc., might take a while. The Rayden pic only took about a day. But like I said, I have yet to draw something that is an actual example of my current skill level. At least, I don't believe I have. No color, not enough principles of design. Not enough experience shown for a person that has been drawing since she was 5.

i usually take forever to draw stuff. my second goro took about 3 weeks of on and off drawing, and i finally finished it in one 4 hour stabb at it starting at midnight a few nights ago. i typically start a drawing, and then i get bored with it, even though the finished sketch (seen in my mind's eye) is freakin awesome. like right now, i have a mech drawing unfinished (7 months), a centaurian archer drawing unfinished (4 months), a gryphon warrior sketch undone (forever), and an angel sketch (mind numbingly sweet, 3 months) all not finished, sitting in my sketch book, waiting for me to come back to them. and what makes it worse, is that every night, i get dozens of awesome ideas of characters and cool gadgets to draw, but i never get the time because i dont draw fast enough. if i could draw as fast as someone like suit, i think i would try makin a GIF animation using a bunch of scetches. that would be sweet. but, it'll have to wait.

Man I know how that is more ideas than there is water in teh ociean. ( spelling? ) I never seem to get ahead but further behind.. But now I'm starting to see some focus to the blurry image, possibly some hope to get out of this slump. me it depends on the work im doing. CG hand drawn photoshop. anywhere from a few hourst to a few months. depends on the intrest and mind im guessing. Its a riddle to me, one that probly can't be solved. who knows... Do any others here try to draw with a mouse? or use a artist tablet?

I used to trace with a mouse. I'd reoutline the pencil lines and then fill it in with color. Two years ago I got a tablet and I couldn't be happier. :3

I hoping to get a tablet, this mousing is getting tedious and annoying.
