A background would take too much away from him. He looks nice. He looks a little influenced by Solid Snake ;) But that's ok! He looks awesome! But maybe clean up your lines next time. They're all sketchy and stuff.
I like it too, but I agree, clean the lines up, Ink them.

And don't lower the quality of the pic so much, when you save it for the web. Right now, the quality is too low.

Dude, you seriously have a thing against JPG Halos. grin
What? I don't have anything against JPG files. All the pictures that I put on this site are JPG files.

I was just letting this artist know that the picture quality could be a lot higher.

The maximum size for a submition to this site is 350k. You can bring it as closet to that as possible. That is what I do, and all the shading on my pics comes out smooth. wink

JPG Halos = the results of High compression.

Silly goose. ^_^
Halos, I never heard of that term.

Thanks for the info.

Yeah I felt that Kenshi himself looked like something out of metal gear which was cool. I was going to give him really long hair at some point but stuck to Snake's hair style and rugged look.

Alright! I'm working on a Kenshi vs Shang tsung pic, give me a couple of days. I've been told to ink my work. I'll send a pic of Sonja right away.

Isn't that a little too much like snake.

I'm picking, it looks good, great on the coloring too.

The halo you guys are reffering to actually looks more like sketch lines the scanner picked up that didn't get erased in PS. The quality seems pretty high from here.

Actually superninja you might want to try this next time.

1. When I scan in a picture I usually delete as much outside "noise" as possible.
2. Convert to greyscale if it isn't already.
3. Under Image/Adjust use Brightness/Contrast or Levels to bring out your lines more and illiminate much of the remaining background noise.

This technique works best if you use basic line drawings and very little shading in the sketch. If one of my pictures is going to be colored on the computer then I draw this way.

Here is an example of one drawn for the computer, Salifu

and one that is not, Scorpion.

Ack! This is so cool it's making me rethink finishing off my own Kenshi FanArt and uploading it now. grin

Great stuff! 4 Stars from me! I think the sketchy look adds to your own unique style, don't eliminate it at all!

Rough sketchy styles are cool, look at the Official Street Fighter 3 character Art and tell me that's not cool Art! smile

And what SPOOn refers to Jpeg Halos as, I refer to as Jpeg Artifacts. Two terms, same thing! wink
RaMeir, I totally agree with you. That is exactly what I do with my pics.

Only that If I still see some smudges that I don't want, I color over them with white, using the air brush tool.

Also I use Photoshop, so I put my drawing on the top layer, then set the layer style to "Multiply" This makes the black stay visible, and the white becomes transparent.

Then I do all the coloring on layers under that. I do every single color shade on a separate layer, so that if I mess up, I can fix the error easily.

easily.

You put your drawing on the top layer? Hmmm, I put mine on the bottom and everything else the same. I wonder if the output is any different. I put mine on the bottom simply because the first tutorial I used said to do it that way.

Wyatt
If I put my pic on the top layer, I don't have to worry about coloring over the lines, because I won't be able to.

If the ink layer is at the bottom, I have to be careful not to go over the black when I color.

So I find my way easy to work with.

I have tried different ways, but this is the way that works best for me.
