This is a re-design for Akuma but I think he looks different enough to be a new fighter.

I'm practicing my digital painting skills with this one. I'm taking my time, little by little almost every day. I'm using Photoshop 7.0

I'm trying to get the technique down so I can do something like a Boris Vallejo painting in the future.

I figured some of you might like to check it out. smile

its not finished, is it?
cause the top half looks awsome but the bottom seems a bit flat? if its not finished im hoping to see it when it is cause at the moment it looks very cool. 8/10 also what happened with your motaro, ive not been on the site for a while so i lost track of the thread. it was looking near completion when i last saw it.
Yeah, it's not finished. I'm just working on small areas here and there.

The last part I worked on was the face on his waist guard.

I haven't done anything with the lower body yet, but all in due time.

I stopped working on Motaro for now I just got tired of him and wanted to work on something else. I'll get back to him eventually.

It's nice, but I really hate the red hair and the "horns".

Are you still in the gameart challenge?

I hadn't seen a post by you in a while.
You hate the hair and horns?

Hmmm, I thought that was one of the coolest looking things about him. Like a demonic lion Akuma. Also reminds me of the Chinese dragon. Even though Akuma is Japanese.

This doesn't even have to be Akuma, it could be a new guy.

I'm slacking on that contest, do you know the due date for it off the top of your head?

The picture is coming out very interesting so far. The guy looks cool but I do have to say that I can't accept him as being Akuma. Guess I feel that no changes were really necessary for him as a character, but that doesn't take away from the concept itself though. Very cool.
I made this for a contest. The idea of the contest is to take a fighter and redesign him. I was going to keep him looking more like the original Akuma but people were telling me that he still looked too much like him. I made a sketch of the new design I'm doing and everybody liked it much better.

That's why he looks so different.

I think it's Feb. 28, still alot of time. Have you seen Richard the Lionheart? That is one awesome piece of work for the poly limit.
He's going way too high poly with it.

I think he's going to use normals mapping from the high poly model for a low poly version so it still looks highly detailed.

Too bad I don't know how to do that. If I did I'd do it too.

I thought he was under the limit, hmm that would explain the detail.

My understanding of normal maps is high detail (16, 32-bit) images used like a bump map except it actually displaces the geometry. I'd love to try them but LightWave doesn't natively support it yet.
