That pic almost blew me away. VERY nice coloring and details. I "luv" the blood on the victim and on Reptile. Good job. I feel like putting this pic as my wallpaper.

Ewww! That looks disgusting! I love it smile.

It would of been nice to see some better blood coloring along with some fancy effects, since I know you're very talented in such things.

The background could of been a lot better too. You should of made it almost identical like Reptile's lair, the MK4 stage. With a little more coloring, this art could of gone a long way grin.
Great job though!

It looks good IMO, but it looks like the beginning stages of coloring. Base colors.

I'm not putting you down, just giving you some ideas. OK smile

You need to add some strong highlights and shadows to make the picture look more alive, and less sketchy.

Also you need to go in to deep detail.
Make Reptiles scales a little more visible.
Render wrinkles, color the teeth individually.

Add some different colors to the skin tones, like reds and maybe greens reflect the colors of the stage on their bodies.

Also make the light source easily visible.

Some parts of the metal could be pure white, and have some glow to it, like there are pure black areas. You could have a reflection of the characters on the arm guards too.

It's good, but It needs more detail work.

I did a little tweaking to it in Photoshop, so you can see what I have in mind.

I used the air brush, with black and white then on 4 layers set to "Overlay".

I did the highlights and darks, then set the layer opacity down, then did the same thing again, and set the opacity down.......Every time on a different layer.

The more you do this, the more the picture will be refined.

Thanks for the feedback, Bleed. It's really a huge difference... Well, what can I say. I'm still learning. smile I guess your image shows more of what I was going for, but I do have a tendency to be a bit on the careful side when it comes to big contrasts. I also have decent theoretical knowledge about lightsources, shadows and stuff like that, but I find actually putting that knowledge to good use to be pretty hard...

As far as the background go, it looks as simple as it does for two reasons: First of all, it wasn't very detailed in the original drawing, and secondly I didn't want it to be the center of attention anyway. I think it's perfectly sufficient in complementing the main subject of the drawing; Reptile and his victim.
EDIT: Of course by that I don't mean there's not room for improvement. I just try to give explanations, not excuses. Thanks for the feedback. smile

The background is fine the way it is.

I like it dark like that for exactly the reason you made it that way.

I was just talking about the characters themselves. smile

About the strong contrast, you don't need to be too careful with it, because you can delete it in 2 seconds if you don't like it.

It's good to experiment, but do it on a separate layer, just in case wink

Heh, that's true. And for the record, the background comment was mostly aimed at NoobSaibot.

Man, this is great. I love it. The background looks too plain. But great job. You should've add some extra colors, but anyway, it looks great.
5/5 Dragon Points.

Peace.

Ditto to all Bleed said.

Additional, you also don't want to forget about shadows. The lightsource indicates an overhead light slightly in front. This would cause shadows to fall between reptiles fingers, on the victims shoulder area, where his clothes overlap skin, and even darker below his neck. You've got a little shading there just needs more. That's a short list.

If you shaded it like Bleed did it would indicate an even stronger lightsource which would call for even darker shadows.

I would take the shading a little further as well depending on the lightsource. With yours it may not be necessary because it isn't very intense. With Bleed's it would be strong enough to light the individual scales on his arms, the little round ones. They have a texture so you need to take them into account.

I think the darker lightsource works well for this, it gives the pic a much more menacing feel to it. Not everything has to be super shiny. The main thing is to use the same effect on every element in the pic. It also simulates the fatality effect, darkening the scene.

Last would be the blood itself. Remember it is a viscous substance, like water or ketchup. That means it is very shiny and it sticks to everything. It's definately fresh so it wouldn't have dried yet. The blood right now looks like someone spray painted the two of them. Of course if you used the airbrush tool that might be accurate. wink The shading effects used on the other subjects should match there as well. That can be used to great extent by giving the blood a shape and form instead of a big mass.

It's tough shading a pic like this because it was drawn so incredibly well. I think you did very well but the more work you put into it the better it will be. It's always tempting to do big strokes that cover alot of canvas but you've got to go back and fill in the details.

Take it easy
