Not soon enough
Just out fo curiosity will you be releasing them all at once, or in two or three batches?

I dunno, come to think of it, batches might be more fun, it means less of a wait and it lets people spend more time looking over each character rather than missing the details because they saw a giant crowd all at once.

0
Yes I agree it might be better. Especially since theres more this time around. (Also Kitana should be in your first batch
lol).

Hey man. I came back to this thread to see the updated detail. I noticed that you even have it down to Scorpion wearing a wedding ring. Nice touch...
Keep up the great work, cant wait to see the rest of your work on the remaining games.

Thank you very much.
In case you're interested, I've started on MK2 and given it its own thread, so you can follow my progress here:

they are ok. idk if you were trying to be original, but they def arent (except the alts). other than that, you can draw well.

No, the primaries are supposed to be updates of the costumes that already exist, not anything completely original, because I believe in sticking to canon pretty closely.
If I were doing designs for some sort of fan fic sequel game instead of a remake of the old ones, I'd make an effort to design costumes that look completely new and unique.

Very impressive. I prefer the line art myself; much more elegant. The coloration is great, it's just a personal preference.

Yeah, I actually prefer the line art myself as well, in terms of "as a piece of art".
But since the idea was more about designing costumes in the end, the full color version is the main event.

I like your alternates better than the main. I like your attention to detail like goro holding wat I'm guessing is the champion belt for mortal kombat. I like how scorpion and sub look especially the alternates sub looks more advanced which makes sense the lin kuei do have cyborg ninja. Overall pretty good.

Your Johnny Cage is a pretty good mix of Pesina and Alexander. I like it.
Chris Alexander is the only spot-on Johnny Cage in terms of looks in my opinion (Pesina is definitely the better martial artist though). That said, yours is excellent and the new MK9 model is very good (it basically IS Alexander, albeit with a tattoo and slightly broader shoulders) as well. I absolutely could not stand MK:DA-MK:A Johnny's massive size and stupid hair.

As a testament to my constantly unsatisfied nature and need to George Lucas my work, I went back and changed Ermac to incorporate Jax007's patchwork mantle idea, which I really liked.
Originally, Ermac was the blandest of the ninjas in the piece, and that was partially deliberate because I was trying to make him look like "the Warrior Shrine ninja statue"...but I was never really satisfied with that idea. This looks much better IMO.

With all due respect for JAX007's art, I think your version of Ermac looks alot better and seems more fitting into the design.
Good work.
Good work.

So I made a minor change to a couple primary costumes that I thought I should update you guys about.
The first is that I added dogtags around Sonya's neck. The second is that I changed Nimbus's facial hair to a "Lemmy beard", because as I was looking at the old EGM pics of him again, I noticed that's what his beard seemed to look like. I also like it 'cause it makes him look more unique and less like Jax.
I left it a goatee in the alt just for variety, though. That Nimbus already has a 'fro, after all.

Everything about this is awesome.

It's a shame that I rarely come to this side of the forums. I really like the work you did Razor, and I'm really digging the concept for Sub-Zero's alternate costume. It goes well with this idea that I have that the Lin Kuei would catch up with the times and have some of the members be involved in the Chinese military, hence having that high-tech gear. Sonya's alternate costume is great too, and I wish that she would look more like that in the games. I'm also glad that you went for a Shaolin monk look for Liu Kang's alternate, because that's what he is. It's sort of a mistake for Liu Kang to not have a Shaolin look to his costumes, and he kind of has too much of that Bruce Lee thing going on even though it's known that his character is based off of him.

Odd. I was trying to edit the first post because I made some small changes, but I keep getting a "403 error, permission denied" page. Is there something wrong with the board right now? I can like any edit other posts...but not the first one for some bizarre reason.

0
That wouldn't make any sense unless not being able to change old threads is something very, very recently added to the board's code, because I was still able to edit the thread not too long ago...and I can't edit the first post in the MK2 cast thread either now but that thread is like a full year younger than this one is.
So if this is something newly added, then it definitely needs to be rescinded, at least on the fan submissions board, because the ability to edit and update the first post to include your latest piece of work is kind of a very important thing here.

I've probably said it before, at which point I'll say it again: I really, really wish you worked at NRS. You are an awesome artist. :D

Upon further research, I'm finding that even a few posts that are only one month old are giving me the forbidden screen when I try to edit them. I'm assuming it's like this for everybody, or at least not just me, but nobody else has probably had reason to encounter this weird glitch. It's totally random seeming too. I can't edit several posts I made on April 7th...but I can edit ones from April 11th just fine...and I can edit posts from as far back as 2009...except for the damned first post! I can edit the second and third and fourth post I made in this thread, but not the first.
I guess this has something to do with the recent site downtime a couple weeks ago where MKO switched over to a new server or whatever it was, like there are still some bugs to be ironed out?
