Stats #1- Big Numbers
Current Total Submissions: 903
The highest overall rating for user's art is 4.5/5 dragons, 1 user(s) currently have this rating: JAX007
Most current submissions: The_Suit: 41
Current users having a submission with a 5/5 rating: Venezuela: 1, slickgreekgeo: 2
Alot of this can be easily found at the Fan Art page, located from the drop-down tab for "Fan Submission". That page runs a bit slow for me, so I decided to add this here.
Note: This particular group of stats won't be changed on a daily basis (excluding the totals), because I want to give everyone a change to vote. So I encourage all of you to actually take the small amount of time it takes to open that voting window, and rate the submission. Putting how many points you give it in your critique isn't enough, because those don't show up in the stats. So, again, it doesn't take much to actually rate a submission, so please do so.

Stats 2- Character Totals
Okay, this section is so that people will know which characters would be 'fresh' or interesting to make concepts for. Here's the list, but first, a few guidelines I used while collecting this information:
Artwork Included: These are the sorts of things that I counted on my list, the most important thing to remember about this is that I did not include drawings/fakes concerning two or more characters. With that, here are the things I included: Concept sketches, parody fanart, individual sprite edits, renders, character drawings, MK characters with sub-character(non MK character), multiple character concepts on one submission (no interaction between characters), original wallpapers (one character), abstract (one character).
Artwork Not Included: The reason I didn't include fakes in this is because fakes always deal with at least two characters. The idea of this is for people to know how many times a single character artwork has been posted. So, here are the things I excluded: Fakes, group pictures, fight scene drawings, original character sketches, colorings of already submitted items.
Note: ONLY submissions to MK5.org were included.
Scorpion- 67
Sub-Zero- 59
Reptile- 30

I revised this last night and this morning, so I am fairly confident these figures are correct. This still leaves five characters without any piece submitted for them, so perhaps it would be interesting to see concepts and such for those characters. I will update this page with the arrival of new fan art.

Stats #3: Totals- Styles- 3 basic groups
The last part of these statistics deals with the basic overall category a submission fits in. In the past, there have been discussions that there have been too many of one thing, and not enough of the other. I decided that this page would not be complete without showing the true numbers behind the talk. Keep in mind, once again only submissions to MK5.org have been counted. First, let's look at these basic 3 categories I have mentioned:
Category 1: Hand Drawings- This category represents actual drawn art obviously, ranging from MK characters, to creative new character concepts. Includes hand colorings as well.
Category 2: Fakes- Originally just simple copy/paste jokes, these pieces have turned into true artworks. Created to 'fool' the audience into thinking it was a screenshot from an actual MK game, they became so popular to even have a MK site dedicated to hosting sprites and other pieces needed to create them. Editiing these have taken fakes to a new level, one that I believe classifies them as true art.
Category 3: Digital Art- Usually the forgotten category, digital art isn't as common. Whether they are actual created renders, or take current renders and make new designs with them, the artists behind making these usually have great skill in computers.
Now that the basic categories have been explained, I will list some subcategories to better explain what is grouped within these categories, including an example of each:
Character Drawings & Sketches: One of the common subcategories, this is simply where an artist takes an existing character and shows him/her. They are drawn in the style of an existing MK game, without huge or radical changes. Include in: Category 1
Example:
Jade: by Metadream.
Character Concepts: Another fairly common type of submission. Its an artist's take on the character in a future MK game, usually complete with a revamped look and new attire. Included in: Category 1
Example:
Baraka :by JAX007
Original Character Concepts: Usually a nice thing to see, it gives a look into the mind of the artist. These are characters that have not appeared in any MK, but rather are made up characters created by the artist. Included in: Category 1.
Example:
Kain :by The_Suit.
Colorings: This is simply when another artists decides to color an already submitted piece. This actually isn't as simple to put into a specific category though, since different artists color in different ways. Some use hand coloring utensils like pencils, others use strictly computer programs, and the best results usually come from a combination of both. If both were used, I counted this is category 1, if only I detected heavy gradients, I placed it in category 3.
Example of what was placed in Category 1:
Scorpion : drawn by JAX007, colored by AcjBizar.
Example of what was placed in Category 3:
Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero :Drawn by The_Suit, colored by kombatangel.
Group Drawings: Simple, just like some of the above subcategories, only there is more than one character on the page. Included in: Category 1
Example:
MK6 Characters :Sandspider
Batlle Scenes: Almost the same as the above category, but an interaction is taking place between the characters, most often a fight. Included in: Category 1
Example:
Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero :Taken from the popular series by, The_Suit.
Sculptures: Very rare, I had forgotten about these clay models when I came upon them. I decided to include them in Category 1, simply because both talents involved working with your hands. Included in: Category 1.
Example:
Scorpion : model by Venezuela.
Fakes: The standard fake usually involves at least one character, performing a fatality or some other action on another character. There may be editing, or not, either way they were included. Included in: Category 2. Note: 2 of ScottyC14's submissions were excluded because he obviously attempted to steal them from MaxDam and FatSatan.
Example:
Quan Chi Leg Beat :MaxDam.
Custom Backgrouds: A background is important to a fake, and a custom one makes it stand out even more. I include both 2D and 3D backgrounds, since techinically they both fit best in the world of fakes. Included in: Category 2.
Example:
BG : by Zombie.
Sprite Edits: Another important part of a fake, these are the actual characters. Submitted alone, they still definitely qualify as fakes. Included in: Category 2.
Example:
Li Mei :DanHibikiFan.
Render Edits: Originally, I planned to include these in Category 3, but later changed by mind to include them in Category 2 instead. Its still the same idea, fool the audience. Included in: Category 2.
Example:
Noob Saibot :limpjammin.
Splashes: These are basically collages of character pics and/or renders. Included in: Category 3
Example:
Shang Tsung :MuRdOiNk
Wallpapers: Nearly the same as the above, but designed to fit the screensize of most computers. Usually renders, background, and texts are included, via computer. However, I did find some actual drawn wallpapers submitted, allowing those to be included away from the others. Included in: Category 3 (mostly) Category 1 (few).
Example:
Kenshi Wallpaper :turkish_legend.
Banners: These are much like the previous as well, only they are smaller and designed to be used as banners or signatures. Included in: Category 3.
Example:
Banner : by of17x.
Renders: Possibly the best work in Category 3, created renders are renders for character that either don't exist, or renders for current MK characters. Included in: Category 3.
Example:
Smoke : 3DArts.
Alright, now that you see how this system works, here are the numbers for each of the categories:
Category 1: 544
Category 2: 264
Category 3: 93
-2 omitted.

WyattHarris.com Dig it
Two things:
1. Does this cover everything time wise? I assume so since you are using the index and not the forum.
2. There's probably a reason those six don't have any pictures done.
Thanks Crow

It's a tough decision on the second matter, I'll probably go back and check this particular submission again. The problem is, I'd have to not only give a tally to Bo' Rai Cho, but also one to Kung Lao. I may include Bleed's submission under circumstance though, I'll have to judge it on whether or not it is a fight scene or two concepts. I included things like JAX007's multiple concepts on one page, simply because they weren't in a fight scenario. But things like The_Suit's Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero series were left off obviously. I'll review this matter again.

1337...there is no 1337 none of us can be 1337 because we are all the same, we are all human. The sooner we realize that, the better off we'll be.
The basic 'numbers' are first.
The character totals are second.
The large 'categories' totals are third.
This was done for easier reading of the stats, instead of having to scroll down past my original post to see all the stats, now they are all located in one post.
