Welcome To MKO's Kreate A Karakter Tournament 4th Edition.
As of now, you'll should know who i am, and alongside with ~Crow~ have managed to grow the tournament to it's 4th season. Thank you for your support.
This thread will be made sticky soon and should be easily found near both tournaments. Thought i'd do this before the tournament ended, not like last time, where people were given the rules at a later point.
If you're interested in registering your character, or your username if you don't have a character made yet, and think you'll be making one, please pm myself(Brodeur) or ~Crow~ regarding your status and willing to participate in the 4th tournament. Thank you, I will update the list of pre-registered users here in this thread, thank you.
At a later point, we will be needing judges, so we won't worry about that for now, cause they might not stick around if we ask right now. But if any of you judges are willing to stay as judges or decide on leaving, please say so. Thanks.
So, here they are; The Rules:
Edit: I'm considering giving dragon points once i talk to Crow about it for extra fan art for your character. I will update later on about that, just in case i forget, you're always welcome to ask us again.
Character Rules
Entering A Character
If you wish to participate, you will need a Character Concept. To find out more on what your character will need in its design, you can find it in Character Concept. To enter your character, you will need to be satisfied with your character concept and then after that, you will need to pre-register or register your character to Brodeur and ~Crow. You can find out more in the Pre-Registration Section. If there are slots still left open for characters, yours will most likely get in. If there's any concerns with your character making it into the Registration, please feel free to pm us.
Updating Characters
This rule has been modified for now. You will be given 3 chances to modify or update your character. This means, you can send updates to ~Crow via pm to a maximum of 3 times. So make sure you use them wisely. This has been made due to many missing criteria and information and running around searching for them. So this will make our work a little easier, hopefully. There will be a deadline as of when you can't update your character anymore, even if you don't use up your 3 chances, you won't get to update it.
Character Concept
This is where you will find out on what your character will need in its design. If there's any additional information you think you could add on that is not listed here, feel free in doing so, it could be a contribution in giving out a new idea or an idea that was left out. Thank You.

Once again, describe the outfits just like you would to the primary outfit.
ARTWORK
Character Artwork:
You can create artwork for your character to give it a better display rather than just text. It's not necessary, but it sure helps to have one. Any kind of art is welcome, including drawing, crayon, chalk, markers, felt, ink, digital, 3d, Heromachine, pastel, etc. But, "REMEMBER! IT MUST BE YOUR OWN WORK, OR YOU NEED PERMISSION FROM THE CREATOR BEFORE SENDING IT TO US " Thank You.
Character Secondary/Multiple Artwork:
You can if you wish to have multiple artworks for your character, and if you do so, I'll do my best to try to get them all up. Once again, make sure it's your own or permission required before entering.
Weapon Artwork:
You can also design artwork for your weapon by itself to showcase in a new section i'm trying to build up, called the Weapon Confiscation. All characters' weapon artworks will go in here.
Arena Artwork:
You can also design artwork for your character's arena/level. Once again same rule implies as above.
Character Arena:
A Level or arena your character hosts his/her battle or a place of residence. Please be detailed when creating the arena.
Arena Weapon:
A Weapon that is placed for emergency usage when unknown or known battles take place. Try to match both weapon and arena if you can to the same style.

This is a special suicide move to end a life of a character before the opponent commits a fatality. I have modified this as well to make it a maximum of 2 hara-kiris.
Contestant rules
Contestants are allowed to vote in the thread and cannot vote for their own character. Also, contestants aren't allowed to become judges once the tournament begins and the concepts have been registered. Contestants are allowed to have only One concept per tournament.
Judge Rules
Judges:
Judges are people from the MKO community forums who are willing to give their time to the tournament. Their job is to make sure any uncleared rules are clear to participants/judges/hosts or passerbys. If there's any concerns they see or know about, they are free to address them to us same goes to any participant. Judges also play a vital role as to placing votes and creating characters as well which will be discussed below. Also, Judges cannot drop down their rank and become a participant.
Becoming A Judge:
In order to become a judge, you either are one from the previous tournament unless you drop out, otherwise you can create a short application form stating who you are and how long you've been with mko(mk5) and what you've done in the past that could help us. After taking a look at all applicants, Crow and myself will decide amongst the applicants to see who would be good candidates, then we will announce the judges in the thread at a later time.
Voting Rules:
Voting is a method of fighting or gathering of votes tallied by participants and judges to decide who wins or loses. Votes are categorized into two different categories;Judge and User Votes. Judge votes count up more and make up the voting definition, while user votes count as one judge vote which could make the difference sometimes in a match.
Judge/User Voting Pre-Eliminary Tournament:
How To Vote:
It's simple, if you're a participant or just a regular user on mko, you can still vote(anyone can vote! as long as you're a user on mko) All you have to do is take a look at the character concepts during the pre-eliminary rounds, and decide for yourself which concept is better and then place your votes for the matches that are taking place in the tournament thread. If you're a judge, you would do as normaly you would place your vote by pm to Crow, and just in case the pm doesn't go through, post in the tournament thread stating your vote has been sent to us. Thank You.
Tournament Voting:
Judges would do the same as before and if fight scenes are implemented in as we couldn't do in the 3rd edition, then user votings would still be the same except it'd be based on the matches and creativity of the fight.
Kast of Karakters:
The total amount of karakters this tournament will contain will be once again 32 characters. Even though it may not seem as much, but it sure is! To keep up with the amount of info they possess and the updating, etc. Characters will be placed amongst different worlds, if we can, we'll try to accommodate them to their respective origins. More on this will be included in the World Rules section.
World Rules:
In this tournament there will be 4 worlds. The names of the worlds will/might be given at some point in the future. The worlds will each have 8 characters equally distributed while trying to maintain their status accordingly such as the evil alignment resides in the outworld world, etc. Each world will have pre-eliminary battles against themselves individually. Characters will fight against each other in their own world to gain a record. Each world will be guarded by a judge, to look over and also the judge will have a sub-boss character created as a final fight for the champion of the world. Throughout the world, characters can entertain or harass or create havoc through the story thread where they interact with other characters. Characters can't cross worlds yet until the worlds merge together after the pre-eliminary tournament.
Story Rules:
The story will be held in the story thread which will be created separately from the tourmanent thread as usual which also must be credited and special thanks to TomTaz for inventing the thread. The Story thread consists of contestants and judges only. If you aren't any of those, you can still drop by and give feedback if you wish. Story creators will be rewarded with dragon points by ~Crow~. Stories can be anything from scenes such as fight scenes, meetings, mini-battles, dreams, first-person, 3rd person, omniscient point of views etc. However, stories aren't allowed to contain death to a contestant's character unless they require the permission to do so by the characters' creator.
Pre-Eliminary Tournament Rules:
What is the Pre-Tournament?
The Pre-Tournament is a mini tournament that takes place before the actual tournament where characters' defeat doesn't mean their existence in the tournament is endangered. Also, this mini-tournament sets up a record system which will explain in the Records Section that will allow setup for the actual tournament.
When does the Pre-Tournament Begin?
The tournament will begin once Brodeur and ~Crow~ officially announce all characters registered alongside their final updates and the tournament site ready to go as well with the judges as well and contestants and participants awaiting.
How long is the Pre-Tournament?
The Pre-Tournament will have 8 matches per character. This doesn't mean that the tournament will only be 8 rounds. Each round will contain 4 matchups and depending on that, the pre-tournament will most likely last somewhere, estimately, around 20-30 rounds. We will clarify this once the testing phase of the 3rd tournament finalizes. Thank you for your patience.
Sub-Bosses
What are Sub-Bosses?
Sub-Bosses are secondary bosses, who are tougher than regular characters but not as tough as the main boss him/herself.
Sub-Boss Description:
Sub-Bosses are usually designed from the basic character concept ideas, and not necessarily all of the sections needed to be filled in.
What's the Sub-Bosses' Role?
The Sub-Bosses role is to maintain a defense for the boss, which will eventually penetrate due to tournament progression. The sub-bosses will fight against characters individually in each world and also after the actual tournament itself.
How many Sub-Bosses are there?
There are 4 Sub-Bosses according to the 4 judges that guard each world.
Can Sub-Bosses take part in the story section?
Yes, Sub-Bosses can. Although they cannot fight or be a part of any action.
Sub-Boss Battle: Pre-Eliminary Battle
The seeds the characters currently have will be useful, as it indicates what they will need to do in order to defeat their world's sub-boss. As we all know, MK sub-bosses have always been superior to regular characters in fighting. I will attempt to reflect this in the tournament as well.
A character's seed determines how many votes the character will need to defeat the sub-boss. If a 1 seed is facing a boss, all the character must do is simply get more votes than the sub-boss character does. If an 8 seed battles a sub-boss, they must defeat the sub-boss with a near flawless victory in order to win. For example, let's say an 8 seed vs. a sub-boss battle ends and the results are 5-3 in favor of the 8 seed character. The sub-boss is still the winner in this situation.
This is done to show how the lower seeds have less "life" remaining, and how the top seeds are stronger characters because they have been defeated less... thus have more energy remaining. Here's a breakdown of the system for all seeds-
1 seeds vs. Sub-bosses- Defeat the sub-boss with any amount of votes. A tie will result in the win of the 1 seed.
2 seeds vs. Sub-bosses- Defeat the sub-boss with any amount of votes. A tie will result in the win of the Sub-boss.
3 seeds vs. Sub-bosses- Defeat the sub-boss by two total votes (minimum)
4 seeds vs. Sub-bosses- Defeat the sub-boss by three total votes (minimum).
5 seeds vs. Sub-bosses- Defeat the sub-boss by four total votes (minimum).
6 seeds vs. Sub-bosses- Defeat the sub-boss by five total votes (minimum).
7 seeds vs. Sub-bosses- Defeat the sub-boss by six total votes (minimum).
8 seeds vs. Sub-bosses- Defeat the sub-boss by seven total votes (minimum).
----------
In this round... in order to get more votes overall, Judge votes will be considered equal to fan votes. The rounds will also last a bit longer in order to get more votes as well.
Note: The creator of the sub-boss cannot vote in the sub-boss battle their sub-boss is involved in, nor can the creator of the character in that battle.
Records
What are Records?
Records are based on a characters' wins, losses, or ties in each individual world.
What are Records for?
Records are for setting up the main bracket in the actual tournament. More on the actual tournament can be found in the Tournament Section.
Types of Records
There are 2 types of records. Pre-Eliminary Records which determine the tournament setup and the Tournament Records which are just there for statistics and quick viewing to see how each character fared after meeting up with the world.
How do Records exactly play a part in the standings?
Records determine 1st place in a world to 8th place. First off, the character with the most wins will be clearly at the top and with the most losses at the bottom. If any characters are tied with wins being equal, then as normally we'd check the two characters' statistics to see who has the least losses, and if they're a tie, then we'd move on to the ties, and if they're same, we'd move on to the flawless victories, and if they're a tie once again, we'd move on to judges' votes and just in case they're a tie, but it shouldn't be, so just in case, we'd go to medal statistics which can be found out more in the Medals Section.
Medal Rules
What are Medals?
Medals are mini-symbol awards that are given to each character based on how well they did in each fight.
Medal Types
FXXW-Fatalitized Victory
KOW-Knockout or Flawless Victory
3/4W- 75% victory
1/2W- Half 50% victory
1/4W- 25% victory
FXXL-Fatalized
KOL-Knockout or Flawless Loss
3/4L- 75% Loss
1/2L- Half 50% Loss
1/4L- 25% Loss
What do Medals do?
Medals determine matches sometimes in case there are ties in all possibilities even judge votes. After those processes, we take a look at medal statistics. Then we determine according to fatality victories and then flawless victories, then 75, then 50, and then 25 % victories and then alternate orders for losses, being 25,50,75% losses and then flawless loss, and then fatality loss.
Tournament Rules
What is the Tournament?
The tournament is the actual tournament that works as a bracket system where fighters are placed according to their world statistics and gets mixed and matched with characters from other worlds where they face each other in a do or a die situation to face the sub-bosses once again at the bosses' arena and then for the final battle where the final four will take on the final boss and themselves.
How is this tournament different than the Pre-Tournament?
It's pretty much the same except this time if you lose your character is out of the tournament and the matches have been distributed appropriately placing 1st place from World A against 8th place from World B and 1st place from World C against 8th place from World D etc. 2nd vs 7th; 3rd vs 6th; and 4th vs 5th respectively. After a character reaches the final four, they automatically receive dragon points and a gift to the hall of fame, more can be found out in the Awards Section and the Hall of Fame Section.
What about Fight Scenes as matches? Since that was my original layout for certain matches, eg; pre-torunament and boss fights, we had some experience in finding out that it would definitely take time and would slow down the tournament and many people would lose interest. So, unfortunately there won't be any fight scenes replacing matches.
Souls of the Forgotten(The Krypt)
What is the Souls of the Forgotten?
This section contains any feedback judges give for fallen characters and standing characters. The feedback is given mostly on every fight possible. This way the creator of the character can take the feedback if he/she wishes and could use it to improve on his/her character for the future. Hint* there'll probably be a tournament for fallen characters. If a judge didn't give any feedback, beside their name will be a N/A heading stating none available feedback. Since characters' souls will be sent to the krypt during the actual tournament, this section will be active during that timeframe as well.
What if If I do not want my character to receive feedback?
If you do not want your character to receieve feedback due to whatever reasons you may have, please feel free in contacting Brodeur or ~Crow~ about it and we'll make sure neither the judges or ourselves will allow that to happen.
Are there Resurrections?
Since the 1st tournament, one of our fellow mko(in that time mk5) users created the resurrections for the tournament, and continued on with the 2nd and didn't make it to the 3rd where we felt it wasn't appropriate at all. Since we are taking the main format of the 3rd edition once again, with some minor changes, there won't be any resurrections.
Hall of Fame Section
What is the Hall of Fame?
The Hall of Fame is a place where high class characters sit because of their great concepts and earned rankings to the final four in the tournament. The hall of fame also just doesn't place them there, it also like the 3rd tournament is looking for an artist, or maybe our regular mko artist/member jax007 might be willing to contribute some of his time in supplying us with superior artwork for the final four characters.(this might be changed to only the God of the Tournament; the final character standing.)
Hall of Fame Awards
Besides being placed and getting artwork, characters/MKO users are awarded with dragon points. The final confirmation will be determined by ~Crow~. Thank you for your patience.
Pre-Registration Rules
4th Tournament Registration
Character Concepts can be registered once ~Crow~ begins pre-registration. Please register your concepts to ~Crow~ by PM, and once you do so, remember, you can only update it 3 times. If you want to know whether your character is registered, check the site in the pre-registration section of this site for the 4th edition.
5th Tournament Pre-Registration
This section will be active towards the end of the current tournament due to users leaving the site and not being there for the tournament after all slots for the 4th edition is filled out. Once again same rules apply for pre-registration. (Future Rules, might be altered for adjustments due to lack of users or concepts, character entries might be changed to 16, etc.)
Dragon Point Award Rules
Entry into tournament - 2 points
Top seed in your world - 2 points
2nd seed in your world - 1 point
Defeating a Sub-boss - 1 point
Advancing to the final 4 in elimination tournament - 3 points
Winning the elimination tournament - 5 points
Writing fight scenes in storyline thread - 1 point per fight scene

Top seed in your world - 2 points
2nd seed in your world - 1 point
Defeating a Sub-boss - 1 point
Advancing to the final 4 in elimination tournament - 3 points

Announcement to be made, sadly.
I thought ~Crow~ was going to make the update, but i guess i will.
Unfortunately, one of our mko members,..sighs..needs to be removed from the pre-registration list, not cause they said so, but because we had to. It figures out that Immortal-Champion, is now known to be not a duplicate, but not a triplet, but i believe a quadruplet, in creating accounts. We have verified this according through ~Crow~ and the user has been banned from mko. Thus, has been banned/removed from the mko karakter tournaments. For those of you'll who know, Immortal-Champion is well known as Black-Rose, or RedRose, or that other username dissing himself..sighs. Even though he may put himself to wrong doings, i'm fine with the guy, and have nothing against him. But hey, rules are rules, and if i was the artist being ripped off, duh, i'd be pissed. Well, the pre-registration list has been updated now and brought back to 18 character slots remaining. Good luck,
Peace
