Damn, that's cool.

You have a great talent for this stuff.

That slide show in your sig is nice too.
How did you do that?

Hey man, what's up Bleed?Well, I appreciate your comments.I'm glad you like the Kung Lao one.

hehe

As for the slideshow, well photobucket just went through some upgrades. And I believe that was one of them, so I tried what I thought I could do and they let you slideshow up to 10 images. So, I chose the best shots of my MK sculptures so far and put in in there.

You like it?A lot of people are pming me saying it's cool, how did I do that lol. It's something new I think in photobucket.com.

Or relatively new anyway.

BTW, I'm a HUGE fan of your work as well Bleed.I live the detail in your drawings.I used to draw a while back but just lost it lol.I can't draw. So, this is what I do.Sometimes I'll draw a concept of what I'm going to sculpt. That's the only time I draw now lol.

But yeah, dude I remember that one you did with Scorpion and his flaming skull, that was insane man lol.I'm thinking of sculpting Scorpion with a skull for head similar to his alternate MK:DA outfit.

Also, for the dude that asked how do I pose him in different poses? hehe, not easy. You see the clay I use is non-hardening, meaning I can still bend it and is often flexible. Then I sometimes spray a hardening solution on it that hardens it.smile

Cool, I'm going to make Smoke next.
How long do these take you on average?

I took a sculpture class in my art academy, and it took a very long time.

We were working from models though, trying to make the sculpture look photorealistic.

Not easy

Seeing you make these makes me want to get back in to that. smile

These sculpts and this in especially (perhaps my favourite so far) are amazing! It's a really really huge shame you cant get better pictures taken from them. Do you keep them assembled after you make them cos if you ever get a better camera it would be nice to see all your works done with bettem shots. Perhaps all together in the one photo too tongue
I'd say that last pose is my favourite too. Can't wait to see Smoke, are you keeping it to the primary MKD costume or going for his classic UMK3 look?
lol i didnt know your name was Pete grin

Yeah I was wondering....I would like to try making a sculpture once. So I have a few questions....

I know you use different colors of clay, but i was wondering houw you make them stick together, so they wont fall of.

In school we also used clay, and I would make body parts but they kept falling of, I could never make them stick, so how do you do it? Do you use a frame or something?

Yeah man lol, I hear ya dude.It is very, very difficult to sculpt from a photo or pic. That's what I do, try my best to get every detail in there so that it looks like it came from a photo or a concept.

When I used to draw and paint back in high school, that IMO takes patience as well but if I had to compare it to sculpting, I would say that sculpting easily wins the contest as far as patience and being time consuming.

To answer your question though Bleed, it depends on who or what I'm sculpting, but average per sculpture(the MK ones per se) at least minimum of 4 to 5 hours. Some like the Cyrax on in my siggy and avy took me 4 days to complete because he has SO much detail it's insane lol.

The Sektor one took me 4 and half hours to make. The Kund Lao took me about 5 and a half hours to make.

The Goro one, 2 days to make.I destroyed that one because I was pissed that he didn't come out as good as I wanted him plus, I need the flesh clay lol.

And my new Smoke one took me about 4 and a half.

So, I guess average time to make these are 4 to 5 hours minimum. Some can take days though.

Well, I'm sure you'll check him out.I made the oldschool Smoke with a Kustom mask for a different look. My webcam I adjusted a bit so the Smoke one you can see the detail a little bit better then the previous ones on here.I hope you like man. Yeah, the names Pete if you guys want to call me that or you can just call me M.K.F. what ever. lol I sometimes destroy them, not all the time.I still have my Sektor, Cyrax, Kung Lao.The Goro one I destroyed, he was so big he was falling apart plus I needed the flesh color on him lol.

Well, I make the individual pieces stick and stay together by pressing firmly on the clay on clay. This techniques are also known as scolding, scoring and bonding. There are other names for different things but these are the main ones. You have to use tools a lot because often your fingers are too large and will get in the way to apply detail in places your fingers CAN'T get too.Like for example: under an armpit or a mask or something like that that requires the need of a tool. It also helps if you have the tools personally IMO.You can go to your local Micheals or what ever Art supplies store near you and buy the tools.Go into the sculpting section and find the tools that look like surgical tools lol. They should be in a bag.Cost anywhere from 10-14 bucks depeding on the tool package. I also use NON-Hardening clay so I can always go back and make a few minor changes with details, poses, props etc. The type of clay I use is used by professional artists of all ages and for the following reasons.Sculpting, Animators and Claymation. It's the BEST clay to use.Professional Modelling Clay non-hardening. However, I CAN make it hard if I wish because I have this solution that is exclusively for this type of clay. You spray it on your sculpture and let it STAY outside like in your yard or something for an hour or so, because the fumes smell bad so it's highly recommended personally. It hardens it permanently for the most part, depending on how much you spray, but it hardens it. It's also recommended that you keep it in room temperature and NOT in a spot too hot or too cold. smile
