I call it bitching, and last time I checked, you didn't speak for me. Any person other than XTREEMIST has the right to speak what they think about someone else's art. Justifying by telling some of the users here to lighten up is a cheap way of not trying to hurt the artist's feelings. As a matter of fact, why are you telling us to lighten up? You know damn well there is something wrong with the user's image and you don't want to admit it. So you go and play peacemaker by encouraging the user to keep posting half-assed images that isn’t even close to being remotely funny or original and pass it on as something great. If you think the whole purpose is to give the artists a low self-esteem, then I question how long you been in the community; this is nothing.

I don't care about "hurting myself" by typing a response to your weak insults. I'm not here to boost my confidence by gathering a lot of internet friends. I've got plenty in real life that I don't need to make up for it by joining guilds or whatever it is you do during your free time.

Reactionary posts to well measured criticism is no more art than the old gag rehashed with mediocre quality. That's an awful consolation attempt at an argument with no grounding at all. Artistic reaction is more about intention than inadvertent disappointment. This latest version of the 'pissality' makes no attempt at any kind of commentary, and cannot take credit for anything resulting.

Closer attention to the context of (less deranged) critiques also clearly lays out issues of disappointment on the terms established by the piece. Puerile humor is rarely admirable, but as something that's been done repeatedly over the past ten years, and maintained in the domain by sites like The Kombat Pavilion, it falls more than short.

The popular trend of responsive and unmotivated positivity on internet forums is as much a problem as unfounded criticism. Negative response, particularly with good grounding, should not come as a shock, nor should it be offensive.
