Not bad, not bad at all. I like his purple eyes, and the shading is quite gewd.

4/5 dragons.

Yeah, the pose needs a few changes and the image is a little muddy but overall it looks good.

I'd make a practice sketch to get the pose right next time, then do the final drawing.

It looks to me like you did the coloring in maybe photoshop with a soft air brush.

It looks kind of flat though, so you might want to do a few practice paints to learn how to make it look more 3D.

Make something simple like a ball, an arm, an eye, etc...

But make it look good without using pencil lines. You can start with pencil lines, but when you are done, they should be removed and the image should be able to stand up without them.

Experiment with a hard brush set to a low opacity, instead of the soft air brush.

Blend it in using the smudge tool or the soft air brush.

This same idea can be done with traditional mediums like pencil, colored pencil or whatever....

It'll make your coloring better with time.

It is like unto a thing of awesome, glazed in purple, cross-dressed up into a storm, but back before sunrise to wipe the pink lippy and panda eyes away.

I give it six inch heels out of seven, with a serve of Bill Nighy swagger on the side.

Hey, Bleed - thank you for your advice! I appreciate it, as I've never been too good with (or too fond of) coloring. I did use Photoshop, and the paintbrush tool with varying opacity. I then changed the curves and the brightness/contrast/saturation.

I'll try to practice like you said, because I agree when you say it looks muddy - I'd call it "fuzzy", myself. Maybe it was just something I did with the curves or levels, but I doubt it.

Thank you for the help!

Mick: Tch'aww. How thweet!

That Bobby Chiu one is really cool, but I think he has a pen-tablet. That would be helpful. I'll continue looking over these and I'll practice. Thanks again!

Yeah, the Wacom Tablet is great.

It's a lot better to work with than a mouse.

A small one is all you need, it costs around $100. That's what I have and IMO it's indispensable.

If you don't have the extra cash for it, Christmas is around the corner.

As an avid Rain fan i simply adore this. The regal, handsome young look is the kind i envisioned my purple loverboy to look like. Like a huskier, more asianised Prince of Persia. The pose bugs me a tad, but it definitely doesn't detract from the quality of work here. If Rain had come back in MKDA looking like this he would've been a fan-favourite without a doubt.
Someone PLEASE touch up the colouring to make him look more 3D smile

Thanks, guys.

Fedegita: Yeah, um, thanks. Sure, it would be cool if someone else re-colored it; after Christmas if I get a wacom (! Go Bleed!) I will, but just so you know, the face is not a big deal. It was the coloring I was trying to do. I mean, thanks, glad you. . .enjoy him.

I have to say that I honestly love this piece, from every aspect. I've always loved the soft air brushing, with or without the sketch behind it. I tend to like the sketch lines there, more than without, as it adds... a charismatic charm.

This intimidates me, but in a completely different manner than the reptile pic. *slides a virtual notebook over her stalled color job* :P

Awesome work, Catig ^_^
