I'm sure not many of you remember him since there are few veterans around here; but my good friend "TDDX" (another one of the original bad asses of fakes) has asked me to post his latest masterpiece.
Enjoy.
By the way, he would like everyone to know that VenoMark is a noob.

Last thing I heard he was working at a movie theater. By now I'm sure he's worked his way up to manager.

It's funny how there is another "Liu Kang" also in the background as well as another flaming guy, just as in the front bridge. The moon is blue. There are nice details. Can you spot the portal guard? Wunderbar warken!

It's funny how 99.9% of the MK fan population would have realized those two figures are Hornbuckle and Blaze...

Now what is the funniest is that you're making false assumptions. I most certainly do know those figures. I described them instead to express their connection to the front bridge fighters. Canonically Blaze couldn't be seen in Mortal Kombat II though. In your words: Thanks for thinking it through. ;-[)

I was referring to more characters, thanks for thinking it through.

Adding bonus content such as arenas, costumes, and more goodies wouldn't make MK2011 suddenly turn into Armageddon.

UMK9???
WTF more can you possibly fit in MK9 before it's just another damn MK Armageddon? We already have Quan Chi and Kenshi in the game.
I would only add in the missing stages from MK1-UMK3. That's all. But it can be done with DLC. Not another game.

No shadows is the "trademark" style for some of us (old) fakers to poke fun at the fact that MK2 glitches and removes them in the game.
I have never, ever put shadows in my fakes and never, ever will.
But you're right... with the amount of detail this particular fake has, it looks a little awkward without them.

From your standpoint, it was. It's not necessary to start arguing in a fan submission thread unless it's about criticism regarding the submission which in this case is not. And it's not like I was insulting. Peace out, bro.

I like it. The subtle nuances and effects are well implemented without being overwhelming.
This seems oddly familiar, like I've seen this before...years ago. I could be wrong, but around the time I used to half-ass "mentor" TDDX in sprite editing, he had a Scorpion sprite quite similar to the one in this fake.
Meh, it doesn't really matter I guess.
If it was five years ago, I would sit here and break this fake down, pixel by pixel and give thorough feedback, but it's not. I'll just say this, the editing/detailing is impressive. But what sticks out to me is the minor lighting issues.
Don't get me wrong, the fact that the editing on the sprites takes account for the light source of Scorpion's flaming skull, all but Scorpion's pants. The detail of the reflecting light off of the pants does not make the same warm range of colors that the rest of the sprite's lighting. Yes, I realize that me pointing this out seems incredible nitpicky to the lengths of being asinine, but TDDX might appreciate that insight--maybe.
Actually, to be honest, this is one of the best fakes I've seen in a long, long time in terms of pure sprite editing. The details of the editing is very, very well done, I will not deny that. It's almost perfect, aside from minor lighting errors and other minute details that I would have changed or added.
It's just a shame the sprite editing / fake making community is such a small group and not as competitive anymore. It's also a shame that I don't have the drive anymore to really try to make anything myself. I never enough time anymore and almost complete lack of interest, which is the common fate for most of the people who have come and gone through this community.
Perhaps, someday, I will make a one-shot fake... but I'm not holding my breath.
