I would be making MKA sprites right now if I thought MKA was gonna be good. I remember me making the first batch of MKD sprites (which I still have), MK just doesn't do it for me anymore, no more interest. I only come here to see what others do. Give my advice who are worthy for it or just give a score if I'm lazy and they can learn on their own. Yea, I agree with you.

I've seen some of the standards these days, and I'm not liking it that much. You basically have to make your own sprites, which I don't have the time for anymore. I like making fakes so they look like a secret part of the actual MK game. Not totally edit it to the point it looks like a new game or whatever.

Anyway, BS, I like your style, but some of your fakes, mostly the oldest aren't up to the standards now. This I can understand because that was a while back and the standards have been risen by various creators.
PS. - It's times like these that make me wish I could actually start and finish a fake...heh.

If you do a "scene", they complain about missing life bars, and shit. If you do a "screen shot", they complain about the lack of editing or originality. Some people are too uptight, and others praise shit. I only do this for fun. Either you like it or not. I don't care about the damn ratings. I'm thankful to those that do like my work.
Mixed sprites? WTF, ever hear of MK Trilogy? If I wanna use MKII Kang in an MK4 setting, I fucking will.
No shadows? Play MAT2. If you don't like that, then it's noon in all my fakes.
Don't like my pulseblades? Maybe I wanted a colored pole. I can't edit fucking blur/swish whatever effects in paint, and I don't want to.
I'm still learning. When I get Photoshop from my friend, then maybe I'll add shadows... maybe.

HAHAHA wow. You two practically read my mind.
Yeah I never cared about putting shadows in my fakes. I've never done it once nor will I ever do it. It's just what I do in my fakes. I leave out the shadows. I use mixed sprites because I think certain characters looked like SHIT in MK3/UMK3. And not every character has the exact same sprite/body positionst hat you need so you have to adjust. blah blah blah.

Wait...a who? I'm confused...
But I still say that if someones going to make a FAKE then it should be a FAKE, if you wanna make a scene or whatever, call it what it is, a comic without word bubbles.

... Good god. Some people are just ridiculously n00bly sometimes. MK fakes predated MK sprite comics by a large extent, I believe. So, in fact, MK sprite comics are just MK fakes with word bubbles =/.
Anyway, a fake is a fake, a comic is a comic. It doesn't matter what the content of the fake is, at least not anymore. A piece of artwork here involving sprites should be considered a fake (which includes animations, palette swaps, etc.) unless otherwise noted.

Actually Sprite Comics in general have been around much longer than attempts to create fake screenshots, fake characters and fake gameplay footage (hence the name 'fakes'.) And I wasn't refering to 'fakes' as being comics, only in the creation of 'scenes.' In other words, things which are MK sprites (or any other game sprites) being pasted onto a background and made to look like they are doing anything other than being featured in gameplay.
For example (please forgive the crappiness that follows, I spent 5 minutes on these):
-Scorpion is seen with SubZero against a common background, Sub is firing ice at Scorpion. [Fake]

Scorpion in a store with a sign saying 'No Ninja Allowed' in the background and Sub in a folded paper hat. A cash register is firing missiles at him. [Not Fake]

Oh and its difficult for you to make a commanding statement about what you think when you end your sentence with 'I believe', which leads you to admit that you are possibly wrong (which you are.)
And I still don't get why fakes are called 'artwork.'

No I wasn't here during the forging of MKOs view of fakes as artwork, or of fakes as being anything using a sprite in it (which would include comics wouldn't it?) But I have been making fakes for many years, albeit most were in a different form then the screenshots and flash animations that are touted as being the pinnacle of talent here. Ever spent years full-blown immersive fan-created game? Tis a bitch to say the least.

In what you "believe" and what is "right" here are totally different. We don't create fakes to make a recreation of what we see. Its to make it what we we don't see. Comics could of been made before fakes in other parts of the net, but around here fakes were here first. Another reason why you don't "get" fakes are called 'artwork' is because you haven't been around when it was beginning when the people who were noobs then (because it was new to us) make a serious effort to make things perfect. You can't understand with the fakes you see nowadays. There aren't that many people now with that talent, and you'll most likely not see any anytime soon. I can dwell more on this but I don't feel like it. Too early in the morning.

I say “I believe..so and so...” because I am not going to just take my memory and consider it fact. There is a margin of error, but at least I don’t force it down your thought like I could/should. You should actually learn some of the history of the artwork, standards, and principles before forcing people to change their outlook on something, just to justify your opinion.
By the way, dude, if you can give me proof that MK sprite comics predated MK sprite fakes, I will believe you. Until then, I will believe MK fakes did predate MK sprite comics (there I go with my “I believe” stuff).
Another thing... I don’t see any text bubbles in your “scene” that you called “not fake”. Wait, isn’t this a scene? *gasp* IT IS! It’s a motherf---ing fake then.

Bet your fat ass that MK Fakes came before MK Komiks. I remember browsing the web back in 1998-ish and I stumbled upon Fred's MK fakes... in fact I think him and a few comrads were the first fakers that I can ever recall. I didn't see MK Komics until MK5.ORG got really popular (it had to have been sometime in 2001-ish)

I have no incentive to make them myself. No competition around here. Plus, I have no real drive to make fakes anymore. If I make another fake it will because of some outside force or me just getting lucky with getting ideas or the drive again.

Not paying attention are we? In my earlier post I said that something which is not an attempt at fake screenshots, gameplay footage, or in-game graphics, should not be considered a FAKE. It doesn't matter if there are no text bubbles, etc. Because I wasn't attempting to mimic gameplay, its not a literal fake.
Oh and I'm not forcing anyone to change their outlook. If I wanted to force anyone to do anything, I'd track them down and hold a gun to their head. Am I doing that? Not as far as you know.
And aren't you, by saying that what I believe is wrong, forcing your opinion 'down my thought(wtf)?' A little hypocritical aren't we?
And do you really need to censor 'fucking'? Aren't you still saying and meaning the same thing?
So I tend to censor my posts to keep the forums a little cleaner than they are. So fuck yourself, fag.... Oops. Heh.
Seriously dude, you really need to let go of your arguement because no one seems to be agreeing with. Whatever, I leave this thread now. Have fun.

The constant picking at, critiquing, and tearing apart every little detail of a fake or scene is ridiculous. It’s a fake not a work of art. They are supposed to be for fun. This is why I stopped posting mine up.

Alright, I'm aware that the images have been removed for...whatever reason, but I've taken the liberty of saving several that have had my artistic capacity utilized to some extent. Of the following images, a large percentage of each has been generated either through my hand directly, or through my tutelage. For the reason that blacksaibot took the liberty of denying me credit, I'll point out what it is that I have done, and, if necessary (should anyone feel the need for it), I'll provide any and all proof I have to verify my claims. Here goes...
More a minor detail, the idea for the text notifying viewers of the entrance of a new combatant, was wholly my idea. It's not as significant as what had been my astute eye for detail. I know that this image isn't fantastic by any means, but I can only say so much to provide aid in his steady improvement.
The initial tone of the Quan Chi sprite was of a much, much brighter gray. The Sheeva sprite was, as alleged by blacksaibot, produced by one of his friends, so he even denied accredit that friend for the generation of that sprite. I can't recall every detail that I had introduced because it's been quite some time since I've seen this image, but I'm more than certain that if I went back and scanned the conversation that transpired during this image's production, I could pick out several palpable objects and minor details--significant in their own right--that required my hand.
Should the above image not be seen in full, as I presume will be the case, click on it, and it should redirect you to a scaled version. PhotoBucket is being a bitch and I don't care enough to upload to another host, so you'll have to deal with viewing the image in its shrunken state.
At any rate, a lot of major details in this one were created by me. The blue plumes of flame sprouting from each of the victims' eyes and mouth, in addition to the fire running along Sub-Zero's right arm, were done in whole by me. The idea of someone taking Shao Kahn's seat and leaving his helmet behind was mine, though it was intended (and he told me that this would be the case) that Venom, my creation, was supposed to be seated there. The blood leaking from Sub-Zero's fire-spitting eye is mine, as are the blood surrounding and including the gaping hole left behind by the fire in the third segment of the collage. All of the skeletal arm and the bicep above it were either created or modified by me. The original version of the hand looked like a spider's web, and the bone looked metallic.
In images I just didn't feel like wasting time in uploading, each BlackSaibot sprite he created had some of my work put into it. Bloodwork was initially done by me until I offered him my tutelage in that category.
This is just a preview of how high the level of my commitment to his improvement was, and how he unwisely declined to credit me for what I had done. I'll place anything on the fact that he won't push out anything even remotely equal to or above the quality of these anytime in the future.
His unannounced retirement hasn't occurred because he's become bored with this, and certainly not because he can't be inspired. It's because he can't impress anyone without my help.
Oh yeah, and his whole obsession with the oldschool look was suggested to him by me due to the sole fact that he couldn't expand upon his editing skills any further than these images have shown, as is the cartoonish look Sub-Zedox gives his sprites.
In an expression of my high level of gratitude to the multiple compliments my work in these images has received, I thank you all. It is most appreciated, I assure you.
Have a nice night.

For the reason that blacksaibot took the liberty of denying me credit, I'll point out what it is that I have done, and, if necessary (should anyone feel the need for it), I'll provide any and all proof I have to verify my claims. More a minor detail, the idea for the text notifying viewers of the entrance of a new combatant, was wholly my idea. It's not as significant as what had been my astute eye for detail. I know that this image isn't fantastic by any means, but I can only say so much to provide aid in his steady improvement.

And he's the one who said "I seek out too much entertainment from people they don't know over the internet." Well thanks for being a hypocrite.

woah.
what an outburst.
well, even though i hate art theft, i'd still like to see the fakes, and right now it's just a ton of broken links on the white squaree sporting the photobucket logo.

In a sense, yes, I did. The thing is, he was never very good. His oldest creations bordered on a level below first-timers, even in comparison to the fakes we see here on a semi-daily basis. If you glance at the fake before his improvement, you can see how far he had leapt in order to get to where most consider him one of the top three best fake picture artists to date. No one can improve at the level he did without someone handing out explicit criticism (which, obviously, was me) and lending him a hand, and in excessive amounts, I should add.
On another note, I didn't do this to ruin his reputation. He did that himself when he claimed, and on several occasions, that he improved wholly on his own efforts. I don't take kindly to people, no matter what environment be the basis, snatching away what I had done to help them become one of the elite. He just kept digging himself deeper and deeper...
I could go on, but I won't. He's done for the time being, and I doubt that he'll be furthering this short-lived feud anytime in the future.
