Nice edit job, but the same goes as for some of MaxDam's fakes: The anti-aliased/semi-transparent light effects seem out of place in the 2D, pixelated whole. Still, impressive work.

However, I don't see the point of having fire on Kano's body. Part of Shang Tsung's arm looks deformed, and his chest looks weird. I also don't see why the blue on Shang's health bar is on the right instead of the left.

Anyhow, I also love the extra detail to the stage as well, e.g. the gap in the bridge.

It's a triple fatality because Shang Tsung burns Kano, rips the upper part of his body off and takes his soul at the same time.

Thanks for the compliments. I put the fire on him, as if the fireballs that he throws, set kano on fire, then shang tsung magically rips kano apart, and his soul spills out.

Did you guys notice the skull in the green energy?

Um, I don't know why shang tsung looks deformed, the only thing I really changed on him is his right hand, It was a fist, and I changed it to an open hand.

Also I put some cuts and bruises on shang, and some blood stains on his clothes.

So If he looks deformed, I don't see it sorry.

I don't think the low quality characters, with the high quality fireballs, looks bad.

Have you played Marvel vs SNK? the fireballs in that game are 3D, and are smooth. It still looks good to me.


The life bar, I made it so it depletes from the outside, towards the timer. Why, personal preference. Also it is not set in stone, that it can only work one way.

I hang out on Professional 3D sites like CGTalk now days, because that is what I'm going to do for a living. 3D modeling, and animation for video games. By the way, I finished collage with my Bachelors degree last Tuesday.

I'm working on a concept drawing of Mileena, I have the pencils done. I still have to Ink, and color it.

Here it is so far. I'm having a tough time with the lower body though, It doesn't look right.

It's a pity I don't have any money, Bleed, otherwise I'd try to commission you to draw up my MK6 characters

I'm guessing ya used one of snes9X's special filters to get the sprites the 'smudges look'- I use that emulator from time to time, so I can identify Kreed's SuperSal/Eagle outputs when I see them ;)

I was going to question the use of lighting Kano on fire, but then I read your reply.
However, after being burnt and severed in half, I dun think Kano's soul would be of much use to Shang 8)

But really, some great filter and effects work here. Love the blood and the green haze. I know I've said before that a 'true' MK fake would have its effect's un-antialiased since thats simply how in-game sprites work. But, the green clouds would look a tad odd if they were un-blurred. Meh, if there's anti-alising already on the sprites, mine as well blur the effects as well- makes the edit more consistent.

I can't really make out these 'bruises' on the Kano sprite, as the emulators' output filter seems to mask the normal smudginess of the sprites with the edited wounds. It is in my view though, that if Kano was burned seriously, he should have more and pronounced scars from 1st degree burns..

I did notice the flotaing skull admist the green clouds when I first looked at the edit. Nice touch really- could maybe make the skull more egregious by outlining its shape a tad.
Nice editing on Shang as well- took his left hand and mirroed/rotated it it seems 8P

As for the lifebars- so they're depleting ala Tekken/VF/SC/DOA..fine with me 8)

Oh, and OT but..that Mileena sketch....freakin AMAZING! I won't comment in depth since you may be posting it later- but BS degree in art? Heh, I can tell 8)
But if you're still in the sketch phase, the only small thing I would alter is to rework her flowing shash a bit. The lines on it look a bit too heavy and angular in comparison to the rest of the sketch.
