I was looking forward to more than just 4 entries!

#3 and #4 are way too wide for this website's outdated 800 x 600 resolution design .

Can we get this kontest posted on the main page so others can see and vote. Gee, shanksh, that'd be shweet if ya did.

This coming from a loser who didn't even partake in thhe kontest and posted a very shitty looking 3D rip-off fake in another thread? No wonder everyone in the fake pic community talks so bad about u. If ur gonna talk crap without even a propper critique u should at leat be good urself but ur NOT.

Alright, folks; let's get the voting started. Although it may take a day or so for this thing to gather any noticeable momentum, once votes start pouring in it should be only a matter of time before this thing retains a high level of interest.



I too am sorely disappointed in the number of entrants that failed to come through, especially considering the number of deadline extensions that were awarded to us. You all should be ashamed, because a lot of users were expecting this thing to involve competition on a much larger scale. Your absence is unacceptable.



I can't see any of the site operators posting this on the front page being a realistic possibility, if only for the reason that it's unrelated to what's typically reported. I think it may also have something to do with trying to retain a look of professionalism.

At any rate, all the voters have to do is click each entry and it'll bring you to the full size image. I'm just hoping that MKOnline's archaic (and notoriously problematic) code doesn't affect voters' opinions, because it's clear that the entrants put a lot of time and effort into their entries.

Seeing as how you failed to come through on your preemptive and laughably unrealistic guaranteed victory, you continue to build on your reputation as an irrelevant and untalented wannabe. How about providing a critique to explain your disinterest in each of the images? You can't even accomplish something as simple as that because of your apparent abhorrence for all those who have provided something that you never could--quality artwork. Haters are gonna hate, and UltimateRyu has faultlessly exemplified this fact. That is all.

I guess I just expected more from the so called vets. Throw out your long winded self praise and yawn inducing critiques and there's little substance. I really want to see some fakes that inspire. Those with such great ideas and originality that they spread rumors about what could be in the next Mortal Kombat game. This is rare and prestigious FPK - if you're gonna submit an entry make sure it breaks new ground.

How many times are we gonna see Ermac imaple with a generic background object? How many times are we gonna see opponents explode with generic projectiles? What about powers that don't fit the character? Shinnok is not Ermac. And I swear I've seen that custom bridge in at least 2 other fakes. Where's the genius that MK is known for?

The spark may have been lost as of recent but just remember you have the power to re-ignite it!!

We're going to see Ermac impale opponents with generic background objects until Ermac no longer uses telekinesis. Want to see another generic telekinetic limb rip? Shut up.

Generic projectiles from Sonya? Looks like her ring toss to me, you idiot. How many times are we going to see opponents explode? Gee? I don't know? It's been in Mortal Kombat since MKII. Why the fuck would it ever stop? At least the body explosion doesn't have generic body parts like the lazy MK Creators put in.

Shinnok isn't Ermac, you're right. He's better (more powerful) than Ermac. He has an amulet which grants him God-like powers you dumb fuck. If he feels like bending over and farting out a mist that burns off skin then so be it. If he wants to levitate Raiden with some silly yellow mist from the ground in his MK4 ending, I'm sure he can manage Jax. After all, he could kill Reptile with a "mere thought."

Notice how the only thing you could whine about in the 4th fake was the arena. That's your way of bowing down to the awesomeness of those sprites on the D-L. Too much pride? I don't know how considering your talent (rather, the lack of).

You bash these fakes like your fakes have these awesome, mind-blowing original ideas but they don't. If that was your attempt at a good critique, you probably only impressed yourself. I've seen Saizero give better criticism and that's saying a lot.

Let me guess, you submitted either the Ermac or Shinnok fake.

well its not as many as i was expecting to see but none the less some interesting stuff,i did consider entering this 4 a moment but decide not to,anyway this is my honest opinion on what is presented,let the judging commence

the concept of the blast ripping him in pieces is pretty decent but the sprites are not anything new,the stage isn't bad could do with a bit more touches

the sprite of ermac from sub mk3 is a decent sprite,the concepts been done before,but still is a solid attempt,would like to seen something new with the sonya sprite same as fake 1,the stage is not bad but not great overall a bit better then fake 1

shinnok sprite is not bad the effects on his hands are cool,but the sprite itself you can tell its a scaled down vs bust,i really like the gore that was added to jax very cool how you layered meats face on it and added some nice guts/gore on the split,the figure in the chair is a nice touch as well,but the stage otherwise just seems kinda plan

the sprites are very well done in this one like the detail in the vindicare sprite,it does seem a bit confusing on whats going on though,he is impaled on a spear no?would liked to seen the placement of the sprites more centered on the page as well as the edge cropped a bit to feel more like a screenshot,the stage is a bit dark to really judge whats going on in it,.overall nice job

the kahn maskless looks pretty cool as well as the graphic on the spine,its a bit odd to see kano in the image makes it kinda look strange.the throne looks cool,the stage seems a bit plan other then that seems a bit to green not bad job,but would been nice to see raiden or kano maybe in something different

But my vote goes for fake 1: Overall I like that this image looks like it could have actually come from the game. The effect for the explosion looks cool and very appropiate for Sonya. Sub Zero's exploding body looks good and dynamic. I love what you did with the background too. Simple but sleek. At first I thought it was just the regular MK3 stage, but looking more in detail I noticed how you chaned it. Very cool that I didnt even notice how different it was at first sight. Only thing I dont like is that the blood on Sub Zero's severed leg looks like its resting on a flat surface, which confuses the eye. If its landing on the street behind the leg should be smaller.
But the overall fake is sharp and nice.

The others are nice, but 1 is my favorite.

I refreshed my page too many times and am still seeing 5 fakes despite a promise of a big turned out. Heh, I recall holding two contests couple years ago which were far more successful, but it is what it is.

To be honest, i'm not disappointed at all. I thought it was an honor having my fake go up against BlackSaibot and VenoMark who haven't lost their touch at all. And then there's the other fake, which isn't spectacular, but the lighting detail is sharp. It's rare seeing an unmasked Kahn fake so very nice job. Awesome job folks.

Maybe I should host the next contest? Give it a month, anything goes. Knock on Fedegita's door this time. One thing i'm proud is how this contest brought OG's out even though they didn't participate. Hopefully the next one ya'll will .

I figured this one would've had a bigger turnout as well, but you can only expect so much in an industry that was on the brink of flat-lining. With that said, I am impressed with the quality of the submissions, especially considering the lengthy period of inactivity through which this industry was suffering. This contest was held, as I mentioned before, with the intent to jump-start an idle art form.

On another note, I consent to your request to be the host the next time around and, unless unforeseen circumstances prevent me from doing so, I can all but guarantee my participation. Though, "anything goes" could prove to be a bit of a problematic clause. Animations should be prohibited, as that is an entirely separate medium and tends to lend an unfair advantage that handicaps those who are producing stills. Aside from that stipulation, "anything goes" is rather fitting.

Anyway, back to voting!

Fake 4 gets my vote, the quality and work put in seems the most impressive to me. They are all great entries however, would like to see more of these contests.

I vote for fake number 1.

Fake 1 gets my vote.

The contest i'm proposing will be strictly fake pic only and not animation since that's too time consuming. I'd suggest everybody start brainstorming already. And get on the phone with the OG's.

Btw, why isn't this thread not on the front website so more votes can be cast?
