The other old crappy one.

Click here for the older, crappier version.

I don't know why I made this. Mostly bored I guess. Tell me what you think.

By the way, there're no lifebars because just like in Liu's dragon fatality, they hide above the screen.
So... Smoke ejects smoke out of that tube thing around his opponent, making them suffocate and die. smile

LOL. That was my first reaction... oh well. The smoke, like stated above, looks like a huge blob of smudging. You could have fixed that by making it a little more transparent and even applying some kind of foggy texture to it. Also, the Reptile head looks a little too... ugly for my tastes, I think you should have used a more human like head (think MK4) instead of the MKDAish head. For Smoke, well, good idea, just too little work done to be any good. Just FYI for those who reads this, the whole blowhorn thing with Smoke is getting overused.

Serious or not, tis not a very nicely executed fake, sorry man. 3/10 for trying.

The way the "smoke" is going and the pose of reptile makes it look more like hes getting sucked in. I dont really like the idea of ninja Smoke's head on robot Smoke's body.

Thanks for the input. I'm fixing the smoke and completely redoing the rushed Reptile. smile

I like how you edited Reptile! I like the different look of the costume and the skin is a nice addition. The smoke effects are weird. The edit you did on Smoke stinks.

First of all, there is no "wall of smoke", and their isn't any smoke. It looks more like steam, which probably would've worked out better as a fatality so that Reptile's scales could be peeling off. Get rid of that gay trumpet sticking out of Smoke's midsection, because it looks terrible. And it doesn't even look like the "smoke" is being expelled from the blowhorn, more like it's being sucked in. Don't use the smudge tool so much, and add a few gaps in the smoke, as well as a handful of plumes breaking off the main blob of smoke.

Where's the fatality? All I see is Reptile standing there, leaning to the right a little. Nothing's happening. So, the smoke is toxic, eh? Then why isn't there any sign of Reptile suffering from its toxicity? Wouldn't he, like, be coughing or something? The idea isn't so bad, but the way in which you exected it just makes me want to bash your face in with a sledgehammer. Your editing talent is obvious; you far exceed a lot of the others here, but don't rush things.

If I could make a suggestion for what will hopefully be a third update on this shitjob, I'd say use a sprite of UMK3 Ermac...ah fuck it, I'll post a sprite with my own custom post here in a bit. Use it as a base for Reptile, and you better, because I'm taking time out of my cramped and uneventful weekend to do this.

He's supposed to be coughing, but you'll have to add some blood either seeping from his mask, or remove the mask completely and have blood being spat out. It's not the best custom pose I've done, but I never plan on using, so...yeah. There ya' go.

To be honest I find your FIRST version a lot better and interesting.

The smoke in your first try looks very cool, the second one looks too simple when compared. And I liked how you made reptiles head with Lius dragon.

Great picture! I rate the first one with a 4/5 because that’s the one I like more.

Well, if you're using Photoshop, then I can't help you, because all that that program's capable of is cheap filters and pre-rendered effects. Take a look at UltimateRyu's fake pictures, for example. Seldom does he create his own effects, and I can understand that, because he, like many others here, doesn't have the talent to generate his own effects. When he does, they turn out blotchy and almost always repetitive, in that he copies and pastes the same one or two parts of a self-produced effect and multiplies it. This isn't a jab at the guy or anything, because our feud has ended; he's probably the only active user of whom I can use as an apparent example.

Now, if you're using PaintShop Pro, I can give you some idea of what to do. Firstly, you're going to have create an actual wall of smoke, not a blob of misshapen and overly-blurred grays and white. In creating this wall (which should be about sixteen pixels wide and about ten pixels taller than the victimized sprite; also, I recommend that you have a "wall" on each side of Reptile, as to give some impression that he is unable to escape), select the airbrush tool and set its opacity at 5% and the size at 2 (hardness: 0; density: 39). Use one of the lighter grays, and just start out by making the base of the wall of smoke (should be around 50% darker than the original shade of gray). Then, you basically have to mess around; give "corners" some highlighting, darken a few areas two make it look like there are gaps/holes (should not exceed seven pixels in size) in the smoke. I can't be any more descriptive than that at the moment, but you basically have to go and mess around in PSP with the airbrush tool. Oh, and add a few smoke rings and whisps of smoke drifting off of and away from the smoke, in whichever direction you may prefer (for realism, they should all be drifting off in the same direction, as with the effect of wind and whatnot, unless there is a change of direction, they should all be moving in the same...direction...yeah). Anyway, here's a quick sample:

It may not work for a few minutes because I have yet to upload it, but I thought it better to go ahead and just insert the code beforehand to prevent from coming back just to edit the post, where MKOnline's fantastic forum coding would certainly go and fuck up something it has no business doing in the first place. I love this place's coding. BEST EVAR. =/

If you're not using PSP, then I just wasted about twenty minutes of my life for nothing, and that would suck royally.

Zomg. No comments? sad

*OBVIOUS BUMP*

Buuut. While I bump, let me just say... If you look at how the pictures progress at the top of the page, you can really see how much I've improved over only the past couple days. wink

Thanks, VenoMark.

Well, even with the inadvertant overlooking of my mini tutorial, you still managed to improve greatly. Now, keeping the same cloud of smoke in this image, try to create your own blood effects--preferably some spewing from Reptile's open mouth (at least, I think that his mouth is open). Blood is probably the easiest to manipulate, as it's just filling a few random pixels with red and highlighting or shading them to your liking.

If I were you, I'd re-post the newest image in a new thread entirely as to avoid users overlooking it because of laziness and whatnot. This is basically a new fake as opposed to the others, but I understand your decision to just edit your original post to avoid spamming the forums. Though, with improvement like this, it shouldn't matter.

I get what you're saying, but I'm not going to open another thread. I don't feel the need to draw more attention to my coming back. tongue

However, I will do the blood thing in a little while.

Though, you like the new smoke? grin
